Considering his original incarnation is listed, I think, this one should be listed too. Let's discuss Light Yagami's film incarnation.

Character's Traits

He starts out as a generic high-school student, but after finding the titular Death Note he gets down the road from a murderous vigilante into an outright sociopathic murderer, who would murder anyone to preserve himself. His goal remains to become the "God" of the new world.

Heinous Standards

Worst in the story. While at first he murders criminals, he later on murders FBI-agents and his own girlfriend just to get a place in the investigation. He gets called "worse than any Shinigami" (Death Gods). In the sequel, he even attempts to murder his own father to get his goal done.

Moral Event Horizon

Crosses this, when he murders his girlfriend.

Individual Capability

He has a Death Note and he manages to do a lot with it and attempt even more.

Moral Agency

Light doesn't care of the immorality of his actions, he simply wants to become a "God" of his new world.

No Groups

Light is a single person.

No Redeeming Qualities

Pretty much none. He even subverts his occasional care for his own father, being willing to murder him for self-preservation.

No Sympathy

His actions aren't treated with sympathy.

Screen Time

We get to see his victim get killed by the Death Note.

The Worst

When it comes to crimes, Light is among the worst. When it comes to heinousness, Light is very high. Ryuk calls him worse than any Shinigami.

Story Type

"Death Note" is a dark story, but even when it comes to criminals, Light is pretty much the only one to target even close people.

Verdict

He's an even better contender than the Manga!Light. I go with "yes" for him.
