To tell, it is the novelization version to tell who is pretty much a big monster who remorselessly placed his son on experiments for self-interest, had no remorse when his wife end sup taking a killing blow he tried to inflict on his son, or when he knowingly dooms thousands of people by risking the military bases' Cylotron to go nuclear in order to blow up the base, pretty much heinous enough and keeps easily as PE.

No, in the movie he's a tragic villain who somewhat cared about Bruce, but he's a monster in the novelization. Everything he did by accident in the film was on purpose in the book. He was downright abusive towards Bruce (much like his comic book counterpart), didn't care when he accidentally killed his wife, and later cried crocodile tears to Betty about Edith's death. Even going so far as to smile when she complies.
