Brenner is a tragic character, not it the sense that he was mistreated heavily, but more so in the fact that he lost his life without leaving a single positive impact on anybody. Brenner is EASILY the best villain in the show, and I am standing by that

Yeah he’s almost tragic in a Shakespearean sense. Honestly I’d like to know more about his past, but as it stands, they did a really good job with his character and his death was handled well.

@Fower42, I think that Duffers have expressed interest in expanding the franchise after the fifth season, so maybe some expanded material gets to explore more of Brenner's backstory. My headcanon is that Brenner used to have a wife but they broke up because Brenner was infertile and couldn't have children regardless how much he wanted it, so he decided to have child subjects so they could be his "children". However, he wasn't above abusing them sometimes because how his father roughly raised him.
