Roman is a tragic villain in my eyes, he is just a lost man who is lashing out at the world because no one ever showed him love, not even his mother, due to circumstances outside of his control.

Maybe if they flesh out in a further film how Maureen rejected him, they could have a flashback showing Maureen to ruthlessly reject him and paint him in a more sympathetic light. After all, while I agree that Roman may have been a living remainder of a trauma, Maureen was too cruel to reject him and tell him to get lost because she preferred Sidney better.

Jill definitely had the dumbest and most petty motive like imagining killing your own mother just for fame

Mrs Loomis is a pretty simple concept of revenge so she's alright
