Greetings, Villains Wiki Administrators, Bureaucrats, Users, Moderators, and the Wiki Representative.
This is Nicholas Armstrong, also known as NickySuper9, speaking. I am aware of the rules about no new categories on Villains Wiki but I am also aware that new categories can be added if discussed on the forums and approved my administrators. I would like to propose the category of "Formerly good", which encompasses all villains who started off innocent, or who started off with good intentions and a good heart, only to later become villains. This can include people, animals, robots, and all other types of villains. I understand that the "Fallen Heroes" category applies only to true heroes, but I do not necessarily agree with this, as even the smallest acts of kindness can be considered heroic. If we add a "Formerly good" category, we can clear up contradictions with perspectives, and we can make a more accurate categorizations for characters who started off good people or who started off innocent, but who later turned bad. This way, we can know for sure that Zuko and other villains started off as good people, without having to edit the Fallen Heroes category from Villains Wiki, as this can cause frustrations if there are contradictions in the Fallen Heroes category, due to misconceptions and many other factors. I would also like to propose a more accurate definition of "Fallen Heroes" to this wiki. This is the definition on my wiki:
These are characters who have turned to the dark side (at least slightly), and have lost some or all of their noble traits. In other words, these characters and real life people went from good people to committing sinful, bad, or even rude behaviour, however, they may still be good at heart. Any character who was formerly a good person counts, for example, Cassandra from Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure (a.k.a. Tangled: The Series) and Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender count as a Fallen Heroes because they were good people in the beginning, but fell to the dark side later on, then redeem themselves. Technically, most villains and heroes count as "Fallen Heroes". There are a few exceptions to this Fallen Hero rule, however, these villains/heroes are still considered tragic:
A robot programmed to be bad: If a villain is a robot and is programmed to be bad from the very start, they should go under Tragic instead of Fallen Heroes. People or living things with only slightly bad manners do not count, as they do not do anything truly bad, but are just a little bit inconsiderate such as chewing with their mouth open. They should go under Tragic instead.
People or living things who have depression or are born with it but only do good things, and do not yell, condescend, or overreact, do not count. They should go under Mentally Ill, Remorseful and/or Tragic instead.
Note: People or living things who even occasionally yell, condescend, overreact, or hurt someone's feelings do in fact count. However, if they are possessed/brainwashed into doing it, have clouded judgement for whatever reason, and their envy caused people to use their weaknesses to their advantage and brainwash them, they should also fall under Possessed/Brainwashed or Envious, while also falling under the Fallen Heroes category, to help clarify that their envy or clouded judgement caused them to become Fallen Heroes.
Here are potential benefits of refining the "Fallen Heroes" category and adding a "Formerly Good" category on Villains Wiki:
Benefits of Changing the "Fallen Heroes" Category:
Increased Accuracy: A refined definition can provide a more accurate representation of characters who have turned to the dark side, avoiding misconceptions and contradictions.
Inclusivity: A broader perspective on what constitutes a "Fallen Hero" can include characters with smaller heroic acts, fostering a more inclusive understanding of moral complexity and character development.
Reduced Frustration: By clarifying the criteria for the "Fallen Heroes" category, potential frustrations among users, administrators, and contributors can be minimized, leading to a more harmonious editing environment.
Benefits of Adding a "Formerly Good" Category:
Clearer Categorization: Introducing a specific category for characters who were formerly good provides a clear distinction between those who started as villains and those who turned from a positive background.
Prevention of Misinterpretation: Avoiding potential misinterpretation of characters' backgrounds can contribute to a more precise classification system, reducing the likelihood of vandalism or unintentional errors.
Comprehensive Character Analysis: Users seeking information on characters' moral arcs can benefit from a more comprehensive categorization, allowing for a nuanced understanding of their journeys.
Encourages Discussion: The addition of a new category can spark discussions and collaborations among users, promoting community engagement and a collective effort to improve categorization.
Please do not feel pressured, but please consider this proposal. If anyone agrees, including Administrators, Bureaucrats, Users, Moderators, and the Wiki Representative, please like this proposal.
