She's alright, but if i wrote her i will make her more of a threat and more tragic?
…since that’s how the other 3 villains in the trilogy goes. but then, it’s good to have dreamworks to take some liberties and make a near pure evil villain.
Make her character a little more developed and making her quite sympathetic. But I was surprised to see her as someone much more cruel than Shen and Kai
Honestly, she should've just been a pure evil villain in Kung Fu Panda. Maybe give her a better tragedy, but one that doesn't really excuse her actions. Have her commit more terrible deeds. Make her relationship with Zhen more establishing and toxic, as Chameleon is manipulating her to be just like her. And just make her more creepy than she was in the film.
That's the idea of how I would rewrite the Chameleon. It ain't the best, but it would've been better.
While most of you want a tragic backstory, I tend to disagree with you all. I think her backstory was pretty good. Allow me explain: -
1) Most of her criticism is that Mantis was small but still learned kung fu. Secrets of Scroll explains how Mantis became a master. Plus in Secrets of Five, we see Crane getting mocked by the other masters for his skinny legs. It is only after he succeeds the test that they take him seriously.
2) "I was rejected from every training hall, I went to. They said I was too small, too lowly." Emphazize on "lowly". In real life, reptiles are looked down upon as scary monsters. In the KFP universe, also the lizards and crocodiles are discriminated and they are just thugs and lowlifes. So for Chameleon, prejudices and racism played a vital role. Her status as a lowly reptilian runt.
She has also recieved criticism for not killing the bear crime boss but just pushing him downstairs but I allow to me explain why I liked she did not kill him off. I am a disliker of the cliche that the villain kills his or her own crime Partner or minion or innocent civilian. It is boring, repetitive and does not carry any emotional weightage. It was refreshing to see a villain who forgave the partners. I loved the dialogue "I forgive you, for the impudence and the back stabbing and the BLATANT DISRESPECT you have Shown Me !! I forgive. But I never forget. You might as well say that I have the memory .... of an Elephant !!" This also makes her pragmatic. Killing off innocents kind of seems pointless.
The changes I would have made: -
1) I would included a flashback scene where Chameleon is rejected from a kung fu academy but not because of her size or status, but because she wanted to misuse kung fu to gain power and respect. However, Chameleon is blinded by the fact that they discriminated her.
2) I would have made the climax a little longer.
@WillieFiveNights , @StrawHatDogBoy and others.
@Anuj Chatterjee I see
I don’t really know what I would change. I remember people initially hating Kai, but liking him more as the movie aged, so I suppose time will tell if something needs to be changed.
I know how to fix her and that stupid ass movie!
Pull a men in black and erase everyones memory of megamind 2 and kung fu panda 4.
Delete both of those shit movies!
Enjoy.
@Jamalis98 if only it was that simple.
That's the opposite of fixing it. It says how to fix it not how to erase it from existence you goof.
What do you think?
