So in the previous KFP movies, we see that the messengers bring in the news of their unlawful activities to the main characters. Zeng brings the message of Tai Lung escaping and maybe he or another messenger brings the message of Lord Shen unlawfully taking over Gongmen City and his evil intentions.
But Kai entered the spirit realm out of nowhere. Even when he stole the chi of kung fu masters from villages and provinces, the letters did not explicitly mention that it was Kai. Since Monkey suggested "Maybe they are all at a party." So Kai could have used this opportunity to attack the Jade Palace out of nowhere and defeat Po and the others. But instead Kai sends his jombies and reveals his name and plan to the characters.
Just imagine if he had not done this. If he had just send the jombies (since he would have been able to test their strengths) and when they were defeated, he called them back - The main characters would not have known about him. They would have to look into the scrolls. Imagine reading a 1000 scrolls one at a time ! Po would have been distracted with his Dad. They would probably have not gone to the Panda village because jombies were attacking at places. So Po would have been like "Sorry, Dad, I have to defend the valley from the jombies." His Dad would not have been aware of Chi and would not have been able to lie about Chi. So Kai ruins this opportunity by revealing his name.
