Clearly they dont understand that the Emperor is the definition of PURE EVIL and does NOT have redeeming qualities like Vader does.

They should pay attention to these things more often.

Vader is not really evil, he’s just broken. He actually hates himself for destroying his life and so the dark side is the only thing he has left. So he just goes on fufilling the only purpose he has.
