Unlike most media, book aren’t censored. Unless somebody blames a crime on it or bans it, books are free to say whatever they want.

Also, a lack of censorship can also lead to way more creative freedom.

TV is visual media meaning you are limited in what you are allowed to put unlike books, where you can put a lot of stuff in it that wouldn't work on TV. You can put depraved shit on a book while on TV, they have either explained the graphic scene in a different but tone-down way or cut it completely.
