One of the worse fathers in all of fiction and people say Gendo is bad.

He's okay, serves his purpose but he's pretty much the least interesting character in the show

I like the way he is written. They wanted me to hate him, and I do, D-O.

He is underrated and threatening enough at least, because Mark Hamill nailed that performance out of his character and made him Avatar's most irredeemably evil villain in the franchise.

He is a decent villain, but his limited screentime and his full evilness would lead people to prefer Azula.
