Great !! Another her "backstory does not make sense". I mean China is a huge country and variations are bound to exist now aren't they ? Not everyone gets the same treatment and at first Shifu did turn away Mantis in Secrets of Scroll which is canon. I mean people are not using their brains to realize that narrow minded Kung Fu masters blinded by prejudice do exist even if it is not shown on-screen. There are enough canon evidences to justify the existence of unaccepting kung fu masters. In Secrets of Furious Five Crane was mocked by the masters tor his skinny legs. Also it has been confirmed by a senior animation intern that the Five had developed their styles after Chameleon was rejected who is reasonably older than them. If you think about even Shifu is pretty narrow minded. He turned away the Furious Five and accepted them only after they defeated Boar. He is the closest student to the impartial Oogway but never even for one second believes in Po until Oogway ascends. I have even more points to prove it makes sense.

Ok. I respect your opinion. I still think the backstory should have been more fleshed out.

There are several other pros about Chameleon that people are just not willing to see. But highlighting them is futile. No one really considers them and some just say that I am looking too much into the script but no one says this when a well received movie is analyzed.

@MarioD0607 Okay. Yeah it could have been more fleshed out but I still liked the way it was narrated. Chameleon had clear expressions of resentment and also her actions convey her backstory. She finds pleasure in showing her authority to the crime lords because in her youth she had been dictated by people of high status. Also she mocks Tai Lung after stealing her kung fu showing that she felt pleasure in stealing the skills of kung fu masters as she had deep rooted jealousy against both people of high status and kung fu warriors.

It’s fine if you like her. She’s not even particularly bad.

Just because other people don’t like her that much doesn’t mean you have to get stressed, unless someone is actively attacking you.

Fine (decent I guess). I think her design and powers are cool.

Okay. But even other than that there are a lot of positives about her.

On an additional note, I think and some others also consider her backstory to be better than Kai's. Kai had a backstory that was interesting in concept but poorly executed. I know he was evil before he even met Oogway but still he carried him for days without anything in return and then after seeing chi, he gets corrupted and turns on his brother. There is not enough time given for his transition from a selfless friend to a chi hungry villain. This conflict is not much developed. Then I am upset how people treat Chameleon's backstory as a joke even when it IS realistic and relatable. I am getting tired of cliched backstories like "society killed my parents so I became evil". They are just overused to the point where they are not compelling or unique anymore. So found Chameleon's backstory unique and refreshing.

Chelsea is objectively worse imo
