I thought she was a bland and uninteresting villain, but she comes off mid i guess, given her awesome super powers and being the closest evil out there in Kung Fu Panda like Lord Shen and Kai, except for Tai Lung who is very sympathetic and a scapegoat.

I think The Chameleon is a good villain. She has a cool design, frightening yet awesome powers, and a cool voice and speaks in a way that makes her amusing, intimidating and charismatic. She also serves as a good foil for Po.

However, I also feel her backstory, while interesting, was underdeveloped, and more could have been done with her character arc.

@Shredder 18 Tai Lung was evil. A sympathetic backstory does not whitewash his wrongdoings.

@Dinofelis Yeah maybe if the runtime was more she could have been more fleshed out and given a satisfactory defeat but Universal executives are strict with runtime because of financial reasons.

I think there were other aspects of her character apart from her backstory that made her interesting and a foil to Po. Like her personality is a polar opposite of Po. She had envy and jealousy against kung fu warriors and also exploited Zhen's skills whereas Po despite not liking his duty as spiritual leader, still shares the wisdom of Oogway and Shifu with her. Chameleon and Po also align with "One Often Meets His Destiny On The Road He Avoids To Take It". Po left Valley of Peace to flee change but ended by changing but before that he got the vision of Chameleon and thought she would conquer all of China if Po does not go after her but it is what eventually hands the Staff of Wisdom to her without which she would have been powerless.

Overrated wasted potential.
