One of the best DreamWorks villains. He gets most of the praise for his charisma and memes but I think an underrated aspect is how fits with the movie's themes of life and death. Jack never appreciates the value of a life as told by the cricket. He sees his baker's dozen and all his henchmen as expendable and it parallels how Puss took his 9 lives as granted. In the end Puss reforms himself by willing to protect his last life and gets spared by Death but Jack stays irredeemable by focusing on his obsessions and not valuing the life of the others to the last minute, causing Death to claim him instead.
I love how he’s both comical and evil.
You don’t have to be Pure evil to be a great villain
As much as I love him as a villain, I feel like Chameleon from KFP4 gets a lot of hate because he raised the bar for expectations. While I don't think Chameleon is as good as Jack Horner, I feel like she is great and underrated and I dislike how she gets dismissed just because she isn't as evil as Jack Horner or doesn't kill many characters. Even Jack's backstory is not fleshed out and he has a cliched goal of having all the magic in the world. So if people are fine with Jack's motivation and goal, I don't see why they shouldn't be with Chameleon's. Please don't say "Jack's feats make up for his motivation and goal". Feats and motivations are different aspects.
Chameleon is pretty generic
@Duckw545 No, she isn't. Here are my counter-arguments: -
Her backstory makes her a dark foil to Po. Mantis, Shifu, and Viper were accepted.
She uses external transformations for power and authority while Po embraces internal change to inspire hope and wisdom.
Both are polar opposites as mentors and spiritual leaders.
She makes a lot of strategic decisions.
She challenges Po's adaptability so it makes the common criticism that Chameleon doesn't challenge Po in any way pointless.
So I don't see why she is generic but I respect your opinion.
Chameleon is pretty underrated. I also think she is better written than Kai. Yeah, I said it.
I can see where you are coming from but I prefer Kai due to his theme not his writing that tries to make him threatening but also tries to be funny at the same time.
Fair enough.
I love irredeemable fantasy villains!
