Curt Connors has ambitious plans, but they never come to fruition. Transforming himself into the villain Lizard was supposed to lead to life-changing discoveries, but the corrupting influence of the serum has moved him far past those goals. Spider-Man works diligently to reverse the effects. Connors has thus transformed between man and lizard more times than the web-head can count. It's an uphill battle, the scientist's research making it harder to find a cure each time, but boosting the power of the reptile. The transition has never been permanent though, hence the loss of power.
