Pamela Voorhees

Friday the 13th is one of the most iconic slasher movie franchises in Hollywood history. It produced the legendary Jason, a monstrous serial killer who regularly murders innocent teenagers at Camp Crystal Lake. While Pamela Vorhees usually appears as a decapitated head in a shrine designed by her son, her macabre character is the primary antagonist in the first film. Despite her narrative relevance, the franchise drastically reduced her role in subsequent installments. Jason is certainly a terrifying villain, but he's nothing more than a hack-and-slash automaton. His mother, on the other hand, is relatively nuanced and well-rounded. Pamela Vorhees might return, though, given all the reboots and prequels currently in production.
