~ "Scarface" Hung whispered a threat to Chung Tin-Ching. |
"Scarface" Hung is the main antagonist in the 1987 Hong Kong prison film Prison on Fire and a cameo character in Prison on Fire II. He is a senior prison officer known as "Scarface" for his brutal management methods.
He was portrayed by Roy Cheung.
Personality[]
"Scarface" Hung is a brutal manager who often beats prisoners to show them the power of the prison. Hung is also a cunning and calculating person because he can get hold of Micky and make him do anything. Hung is also as vindictive as Micky because Chung Tin-Ching and Lo Ka-yiu upset and defied his management, so he went out of his way to persecute them.
Biography[]
Hung's first appearance was when he was watching the canteen, and he may have been watching Lo Ka-yiu since then, when he was jailed for manslaughter.
During yard time, a clash broke out on the playground, instigated by the Big Fool, the leader of a gang. Hung, who is walking by, stops the fight and smashes the Big Fool's head with a single blow. Although this is a common occurrence for Chung Tin-Ching, who has been in prison for a long time, Yiu is seeing Hung's brutal management for the first time.
One night, Hung leads his men in a search for contraband. One day, Hung leads his men in a search for contraband. After the inspection, he sent Yiu and Micky, the leader of another gang, to his office. At the office, he tried to get Yiu to snitch, but a Yiu who was warned of the danger by Ching didn't speak up. Hung turned around and bribed Micky. Hung instead bribed Micky to find the tool that went missing from the shop floor and held the third gang leader, Bill's men, accountable. This led Micky to retaliate against Yiu after he returned to the laundry room, where he had earlier accused him of stealing scissors and even misled Bill into thinking that his men were being punished because of Yiu.
Ching complained to Hung but failed and Yiu was beaten in the toilet by Micky and Bill that night. It also led to Yiu, who was "Betrayed” by his girlfriend in the visiting room and once again got back at Micky in the laundry room, getting angry and even hurting himself. Yiu and Ching were soon questioned by the warden, and Ching indirectly pointed the finger at Hung for bringing Yiu and Micky to the office for questioning and possibly framing Yiu. Micky was transferred to another prison. Yiu and Ching have been given a break, even in time for the annual New Year celebrations. Hung was watching, probably planning his revenge on them. When Micky comes back, the nightmare returns.
Yiu tried to get Hung, a man who resented him, to change his cell. The result was self-evident. During the JPS inspection, Yiu tried to complain to the JPS about Micky's bullying and collusion with Hung. However, it turned out that he was too clumsy as he did not have enough evidence to prove, so much so that the complaint ended in failure. Hung got them to clean the sewers for revenge.
In later days, Bill complained that the price increase in cigarettes was unacceptable. In protest, Bill went on hunger strike. At the start of the action, Hung warned Bill not to do anything stupid. However, Bill's failure upset other leaders, who went on hunger strike. In the beginning, however, Hung pulls Micky to the toilet, threatens him and tells him about the consequences of a hunger strike(Snitch), which allows Micky to eat for the greater good. As a way for Micky not to be targeted, Hung leans in Ching's ear and threatens him so that others will think that Ching is snitching. Knowing his intentions, Ching pushed him away angrily, causing a clash. In the ward, Ching confronted Hung and verbally abused him, marking the beginning of Ching's rage and madness.
Back in his cell, Hung locks the door so Micky can beat up Ching and Yiu. However, Micky's men were controlled by other leaders, and Micky was forced to fight Ching one-on-one and was quickly defeated. When Yiu helps Ching but is beaten, an angry and Mad Ching tries to strangle Micky with his arms and bed frame and let Micky die, even though the guards use water cannons to suppress him. Hung, who saw his plan fail and get into serious trouble, beat Ching, but Yiu saved him from a near-fatal blow. The prisoners rioted, and recovering Ching used the top bunk of the multiple beds as a road and kicked Hung down from it. Instead of giving Hung a chance to recover, Ching showed him his crazy, blood-thirsty laughter and bit off his left ear with his teeth and spat it out. The riot ended with Hung's wailing.
Hung and the others were quickly taken to hospital for treatment. From then on, until the end of Prison on Fire II, his condition is unknown. At the end of Prison on Fire II, Ching sees Hung reinstated at a rally, which makes Ching look sad.
