Ōchi Fukuchi, formerly known as Gen'ichirō Fukuchi, is a major antagonist of the Bungo Stray Dogs franchise, serving as the main antagonist of the Decay of the Angel Saga.
Fukuchi is the captain of the Grade-A military squad, the Hunting Dogs. However, in reality, he's truly the leader of the terrorist organization, the Decay of the Angel, acting under the alias of Kamui. He was the “true" master mind behind the global terrorism plot and the Armed Detective Agency's frame-up (until it was revealed that Fyodor Dostoyevsky manipulated him into doing all of it), all part of his plan to end all wars and bring peace to the world. He is the best friend of Yukichi Fukuzawa.
He is voiced by Akio Ōtsuka in Japanese (who also voiced Yujiro Hanma from Baki, All for One from My Hero Academia, and Dimple from Mob Psycho 100) and David Vincent in English (who also voiced Sakunosuke Oda from the same anime, Gilgamesh from the Fate series, and Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez from Bleach).
Appearance[]
Fukuchi is a tall, middle-aged man with vibrant purple eyes and light gray hair on his head. He has a light, spiky hair with two strands falling in front of his forehead, along with an upwards mustache. On the left side of his hair, On the left side of his forehead, his hairline forms a lightning bolt shape. On the right side of his face, he has three distinct healed scars that almost resemble claw marks.
Fukuchi wears a standard Hunting Dog uniform. Unlike his subordinates, he isn't seen wearing the hat that accompanies the uniform and he also has his sleeves rolled up and wears white half palm gloves.
Personality[]
On the surface, Fukuchi is a man with an eccentric, silly and boastful personality. He takes pride in the Hunting Dogs unit's skills and reputation and is shown have a lot of enthusiasm in the thought of "hunting down" criminals. He also has a vulgar and shameless side to him, usually saying immature comments and/or doing disgusting things like vomiting from drinking too much liquor. Despite this immature side of him, he can be a charismatic, charming leader who was able to heavily influence people of any nation to the point where they're admired by him and even ask him for his autograph.
As the Decay of the Angel leader however, his personality is much darker and more serious compared to his fake one as the Hunting Dogs captain. As Kamui, Fukuchi still retains some of his laid-back personality, however, he expresses bitterness in getting older admitting his drinking was a form of relieving his stress and he loathes that his hair is getting thinner. He also admits that he's relieved he doesn't have to keep up his fake facade after the final step of his plans commences. In this personality, Fukuchi behaves more like a ruthless fighter as he challenged Atsushi to a fight with the intention of killing him, though he doesn't find any joy out of killing and hurting his enemies and he still retains some form of honor like when he allowed Atsushi a fair chance between running or fighting instead of killing him on the spot.
Despite his personality as Kamui, Fukuchi true goal was for world peace and was willing to get blood on his hands and play the role of a villain in order to achieve it. Fukuzawa figured that Fukuchi hated him because he didn't join him on the battlefield during the Great War, but that was never truly the case and Fukuchi still saw Fukuzawa as a friend, he was also the first person to show up at the ceremony of the Armed Detective Agency's founding years after the departed.
In the end, Fukuchi understood that even if he were to get rid of war, he would become a corrupt dictator that would turn out to be the enemy of the world and he orchestrated his own demise to put a stop to the terrorism, entrusting his best friend to be the leader of the Army of Mankind.
Abilities[]
Mirror Lion: Fukuchi's ability, Mirror lion allows him to increase the power of any weapon he holds 100 folds. This also goes for any form of material within his reach like his Hunting Dogs katana, a piece of stone, a ship's handrail, and even a person's fist. For instance, he can launch a sword attack with a twofold force having the lightness of a feather and the cutting ability of a heat beam to the point that its sword swing is almost unnoticeable even for Atsushi's supernatural tiger senses.
Espionage: Fukuchi is a tremendously skilled actor and is able to fake personalities to the point where someone who's very observant like Ranpo is unable to tell if he is lying or is hiding an ulterior motive without fully using his Super Deduction. During his days a military infiltrator, he was known as "The Man of a Hundred Faces" due to his legendary skills in infiltration and espionage. However, he has admitted that he has become rusty and chalks it up to his age.
Physical Prowess: Fukuchi is also well-versed in martial arts. Like Fukuzawa, he appears to be proficient in performing the kote gaeshi, a throwing technique that uses an opponent's momentum against them.
Equipment[]
- Shintō Amenogozen: Shintō Amenogozen (also known as the space time sword) is a powerful sword that can cut through space and time. The sword on its own is able to slice through airspace with a limit of at least a dozen centimeters, but due to Fukuchi's ability to enhance the power of any weapon, the sword can penetrate farther than it originally can. The sword can also cut time, it has been seen cutting through the past within a timeframe of at least a dozen seconds. It allows Fukuchi to "foresee" the future by cutting into the past accouple of seconds back before his defeats, he can also use it to send a warning to his past self, rendering surprise attacks to be anticipated and enabling him to overwrite defeat in battle.
