The Ōtsutsuki Clan are the overarching antagonists of the Naruto franchise. They are an ancient clan of extremely powerful extraterrestrial beings who many revere as deities. High-ranking members, along with low-ranking members, of the main branch travel out in search of life energy and consumption of planets to achieve true godhood.
History[]
For countless eons, the Ōtsutsuki Clan have traveled across dimensions to plant God Trees in order to harvest planets for their chakra. One member, Shibai Ōtsutsuki, was able to transcend to a higher dimension through doing this several times and abandoned his physical body.
Over a millennia ago, Kaguya and Isshiki were selected to set the God Tree on Earth and harvest its Chakra Fruit, sacrificing Kaguya to the Ten-Tails sapling in the process. However, Kaguya desired to take the Chakra Fruit for herself, betraying Isshiki in the process whom she almost killed. Isshiki barely survived, however, by possessing a nearby monk and continuing his operations undercover. Meanwhile, Kaguya, overtime grew close to humans and even got pregnant with her lover, but after being betrayed and losing faith in humanity, she imprisoned humanity in a dream world.
Later on, Kaguya birthed two sons with powers of their own. Overtime they caught onto Kaguya's cruel ways and stopped her, sealing her away after a one month fight. This fight, however, would leave a devastating affect on nearby countries.
Personalities[]
Full-blooded Ōtsutsuki’s[]
These are power-seeking creatures who don't understand the concept of love and follow the Ōtsutsuki will. Most of them see planets as nothing but "seedbeds" to destroy and transform into a chakra fruit. They usually tend to travel in pairs and use the weaker partner as a sacrifice to the tree. If they are endangered however, the more powerful partner will consume the weaker one.
They are mostly arrogant, cruel, selfish, corrupted and don't believe in working hard for power, believing it is better to simply steal power from others. When faced with a threat, they will try to avert death by any means possible, and attempt to possess a nearby human and slowly take over their body.
The only full-blood Otsutsuki to experience love is Kaguya who betrayed them and grew fond of a group of humans, though she reverted back to her cruel ways after being betrayed by her lover and consuming the chakra fruit.
Human Hybrids[]
The Ōtsutsuki's who were born on Earth are much less cruel and easily able to fit in with humans. Due to growing up on the planet, most of them wish to protect humans and live alongside them. The only known hybrid to become evil and corrupted is Indra Ōtsutsuki who got tempted by Black Zetsu.
Appearance[]
Full-blooded Ōtsutsuki's are humanoids with pale skin, colorless eyes and white hair, along with arched eye-brows. They each have differing horns coming out of their heads. They are known to wear white robes as well.
Human Hybrids - mainly first generation ones like Hagoromo and Hamura - tend to have smaller horns, located near the forehead and appear to be covered by skin. Due to human ancestry, hybrids also have a high chance of being born with darker hair colors or grayer skin compared to full-blooded Ōtsutsuki, and after the second generation, they become more indistinguishable from normal humans. The exceptions to these are some of Hamura's descendants in the lunar branch of the Clan. They also wore white robes.
