The "1995 Hiker" is the overarching antagonist of the 2025 supernatural horror film Wolf Man.
He was a hiker who had gone missing in early 1995. Following several sightings by witnesses, locals came to believe he had contracted an animal-transmitted disease known as "Hill Fever". However, the natives who preceded them called it ma'iingan odengwaan or "Face of the Wolf". He was also responsible for infecting Grady Lovell with his lycanthropy, who would later pass it down to his son Blake thirty years later.
Biography[]
In early 1995, this man had gone on a hike to the central mountains of Oregon. He somehow caught Lycanthrophy and succumbed to the disease, becoming the first known werewolf in the region. Over the months, several witnesses claimed he had contracted "Hill Fever", but the natives who preceded them called it ma'iingan odengwaan or "Face of the Wolf". From then on, the man lived in the forest. On one occasion, the beast caught a glimpse of a young Blake Lovell, whom he decided to stalk, first by standing right in the view of his scope, and then stalking him, sending shivers down his spine.
Blake and his father Grady soon hid in a hunting outpost. The hiker followed them, climbing up the ladder, with his breath visible rising above. First he tried breaking down the door, leaving a scratch but failing. He then climbed through the side of the structure, positioning himself right behind his prey, ready to strike. Suddenly, a deer distracted the beast. The hiker jumped off and mauled the animal, ripping its throat and spilling its guts. Soon, the werewolf ran off after narrowly evading a shot. It is unknown what happened to him after this, but in the ensuing 30 years, he'd infect Grady Lovell.

- According to some notes gathered by Grady, the hiker's name is Larry Talbot, which is a reference to the titular character from both incarnations of the Wolf Man.
