No Sang-gook, better known as 1st Floor, is the tritagonist of the Korean black comedy thriller television series The 8 Show.

Despite being a hero for the majority of the series, the actions of the antagonists of the show cause him to suffer a villainous breakdown in the finale, as well as having a few villainous qualities earlier on.

He is portrayed by Bae Seong-woo.

Biography

No Sang-gook was a circus performer who had a very sick daughter. After the hospital refused to treat the daughter anymore due to Sang-gook being unable to afford the treatment, he attempted to kill himself by walking into traffic in order to give his family his life insurance policy. However, he was confronted by the Host of the show, who offered him a chance to make some money.

Due to bad luck, 1st Floor chose card number 1, earning him the title of 1st Floor, and earning the lowest amount of cash on the show. Eventually, after suffering extreme abuse from the villains, he snapped, and held everyone hostage while preforming a tightrope performance, which accidentally started a fire, causing his death, and the end of The 8 Show.

• Unlike his original counterpart, who is a Pure Evil character, 1st Floor in The 8 Show is tragic and a good person at heart.
• His character is possibly inspired by Arthur Fleck.
  • Both characters are tragic, suffer from disabilities, and have a clown persona.
  • Both characters also eventually turn to villainy as a result of the wealthy upper class looking down on and abusing them.
  • Both characters eventually also die as a result of their actions.
• 1st Floor's death is foreshadowed in the intro sequence of every episode, with his body being consumed by fire briefly flashing on screen close to the end of the sequence.
• Out of all the contestants on The 8 Show, 1st Floor is definitely the most tragic, as he, just like 3rd Floor, was suicidal, but he also suffered the most throughout the show, due to living on the bottom floor of the games, earning the least amount of money, constantly being abused by the upper floors, losing all of the money he earned from the show, and being the only of the main characters to die.
