Admiral Aña Benítez is one the two secondary antagonists (alongside Sean McKay) of the 2021 video game Far Cry 6.
She is the loyal navy admiral of the FND tasked by Antón Castillo to protect trading across the Yaran shores, but also has to deal with the rebellious factions La Moral and the Legends of '67.
She was voiced by Michelle Arvizu.
Biography[]
Background[]
Aña Benítez was born to Yara as the middle child to unnamed parents, and spent her youth living on her family's yacht and learning from the crewmen about the sea. During her teenage years, she cut ties with her family and joined the Fuerzas Nacionales de Defensa's naval academy. She proved her skills and became one of the youngest lieutenants in the navy, and later met a man named Leon, who works in the navy's administration office. The two would later marry and have two daughters together, Aña "Lita" Benítez I and Aña "Gorda" Benítez II. During her early tenure as a lieutenant, Benítez learned of his parents' involvement with Santos Espinosa and his government. When they asked their daughter to flee to the United States, she instead arrested them and watched their executions, where she didn't weep for them.
When Antón Castillo became president of Yara, he decided to promote Aña as the minister of the navy, but only because she was a woman in uniform, which would inspire women to join his regime. Due to the travel demands, Benítez had Leon take care of their daughters while she maintained control over El Este to protect Yara's trade and shores. She also worked with businessman Sean McKay, but the two developed a hatred for one another, with Castillo often having to come to resolve the tension between the two. While controlling the region, Benítez became known for her cruelty, hanging rebels on fishing cranes on her private island, and executing anyone who spoke against Castillo's regime. One incident involved Benítez executing a set of students in front of a college for minor crimes, which was witnessed by Yelena Morales, who would start La Moral to fight against the admiral.
Far Cry 6[]
While continuing her control over the region, Dani Rojas arrived in El Este to unite the Legends of '67 with Libertad to fight against Castillo. Rojas would team up with La Moral when most members of the Legends refused to return due to their old age and believing they ended the Castillo's oppression years prior. Dani would assist La Moral and Jorge "El Tigre" Aguilar in disrupting Castillo's control over El Este, and Benítez receives a call from him on his frustration of the situation. She is shaken from Antón's call, and orders her men to hang the rebel's corpse higher to overcompensate for her failures.
Rojas succeeds in having all members of the Legends return to help La Moral, and all forces commit a full assault on her private island. When the rebels arrive, Aña attempts to kill Rojas by releasing PG-240X in one room, and later killing several prisoners when they are released from their cells. Trapping herself in her room, Admiral Benítez attempts to have Rojas surrender by holding a prisoner hostage, but she is shot in the head, and her body is hanged from a cannon at her base as a display of humiliation. After her death, Castillo has McKay take control over the region, and the latter succeeds in killing several rebels at their base with PG-240X. Despite this, McKay is later contacted by Juan Cortez to change sides, and either leaves Yara or is killed by Rojas for his crimes.
Alternate Ending[]
If Dani decides to leave Yara for Miami, it's assumed that Admiral Benítez maintained her control over the navy and El Este.
