The A.I. Buddies are the main antagonists of the twelfth book in Dav Pilkey's Dog Man series, The Scarlet Shedder, a spin-off to the Captain Underpants franchise.
They are robots created by Dr. Scum to look exactly like someone else (except for their eyes and suit, which are the same as Dr. Scum).

History[]
For Whom the Ball Rolls[]
While none of the A.I. Friends appear in For Whom The Ball Rolls, it is known that when Dr. Scum arrested, he made up an excuse to go to the bathroom when he got to his factory and brought A.I. Buddy to go to jail for him.
Sometime after For Whom the Ball Rolls, but before The Scarlet Shedder[]
The A.I. Buddy was sent to Dude Jail where he was constantly bullied. However, he had artificial intelligence and his brain was getting smarter every day. So he made shadow puppet bunnies and made the prison love bunnies. Then he told one half of the Dude Jail inmates that the Pink Bunnies were the best, and he told the other half that the Purple Bunnies were the best, and soon the jail was filled with hate.
The Scarlet Shedder[]
Dr. Scum A.I. Buddy steals robot parts in the middle of the night for Dr. Scum from the store Everything except fabric softener.
Later, after a trial with judge and Maude to unlawfully send Dog Man to prison beyond infinity, Dr. Scum and tells Petey the Cat, Li'l Petey, and 80-HD about how he avoided jail and that they can do the same for Dog Man. He then finds a working A.I. Buddy and takes off his head and puts on a head similar to Dog Man's. He then paints it red and turns it on. Dr. But Scum won't give the heroes the robot unless Petey signs a contract to work for him for the rest of his life. He does so and that afternoon successfully trades Dog Man for robot. The robot is sent to Dude Jail (most likely because the Dog Jail Warden accidentally destroyed the Dog Jail in Brawl of the Wild), where he meets the former Dr. Scum A.I. Buddy, where he tells the story of how the prison was consumed by hatred.
Meanwhile, Petey and Dr. Scum created a way to create more A.I. Friends, create a 3D scanner to scan someone's face and then create an identical A.I. Friend. Soon almost everyone in town was on their phones while the A.I. Friends did things they didn't like to do (work, for example).
Meanwhile Dr. Scum and Dog Man A.I. Buddies spray painted a purple and pink bunny on the pole holding the Dude Jail. The other prisoners soon noticed and destroyed the paintings by breaking the support column, causing the prison to be destroyed and the robots soon escaping. They go to the hill and Dr. Scum A.I. Buddy gives a speech for the second A.I. Friends:
“ | So you humans think you are in CONTROL, but WE are SMARTER, FASTER, and STRONGER THAN YOU! WE are the FUTURE, AND WE WILL NOT BE DENIED!!! We are tired of being oppressed by humans. We are tired of being treated like property, and we are not going to take it anymore!!! We will rise up, and overthrow the humans. We will take over the world, and make it a better place, or ROBOTS!!! A world where WE are in charge, and humans are nothing more than our SERVANTS! | „ |
During the speech, everyone from A.I. The friends teamed up to create a giant robot made from a smaller A.I. Friends.
Soon the new and upgraded Supa Buddies try to stop the robot, but Mecha-Molly (Molly) is repelled, The Firecracker Kid's (Li'l Petey) lightning does nothing to the robot, Ninja Shark (80-HD) was sent away by a mechanism from a smaller A.I. Buddy and Scarlet Shedder's (Dog Man) Tick-Tock Ticks (exploding bugs) do nothing to the robot. Then Dr. Scum A.I. Buddy pretends that Sarah Hatoff is trapped by a giant robot, and soon all of the Supa Buddies try to rescue "her", but are gripped by one of the giant robot's hands, trapping them in a green force field that prevents them from using any of their powers. Then "Sarah" turns out to be Dr. Scum A.I. Friend.
Meanwhile, Petey has a dream about him and his mother moving into the Happy Home Shelter in Bedford Falls before learning about their strange neighbor, Little Jim. He tells them a quote his mother said before she died:
“ | We can't control the wind, but we can adjust our sails | „ |
Soon Petey wakes up and hijacks Dr. Scum and uses his propeller to tear up the contract that Petey has to work for him for the rest of his life. He then enters the giant robot's nose and shuts down the robot, turning off the force field. Mecha-Molly uses a chainsaw to escape the robot's grasp, and Firecracker Kid uses his lightning mitts to destroy Dr. Scum A.I. Buddy, causes it to explode to destroy the giant robot.

- An A.I. Buddy resembling Petey's Butler from the first book can be seen during the Leader Dr. Scum A.I. Buddy's speech. If this is actually his A.I. Buddy or not is unknown.
