AJ Novak is a major antagonist in Season 5 of the crime action drama series S.W.A.T..

He is the son of Arthur Novak, and was responsible for murdering Miguel Reyes, the father to Delfina Reyes and Isabel Reyes' husband. He wanted for the Reyes to sell their land to his father.

He was portrayed by Luke Cook, who also portrayed Satan in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Biography[]

Backstory[]

AJ Novak moved to Mexico with his father after his father became a fugitive. Mexico had no extradition treaty. While residing in Mexico, AJ and his father managed to bribe the police and gain wealth, power, and influence over the small town. AJ wanted Isabel Delfina to sell her land to his father, but she refused their offer. When he found out that the land was worth more than their attempt to sell it, AJ and his father purposely changed the price for which they wanted to sell the land to a price far below its actual value. In addition, AJ murdered Miguel Reyes with a pickaxe when the latter was getting in the way of their deal which led to Delfina hating Gabriel and blaming him for her father's death. Because of the bribery with the local police, the homicide was ruled as an accident leaving the case closed.

"Vagabundo"[]

AJ and Gabriel encountered Isabel and her family members demanding that they sell their land to his father. AJ got impatient with Delfina and her family member which led to him stabbing the tire of the truck and escalating the confrontation to hitting a man in his face. Hondo stepped into the situation to help Isabel and her family with the truck. AJ was vexed at Hondo for interfering in their conflict and Hondo ignoring him when he told him to go away. AJ told Hondo to not encounter him again and left.

AJ, Gabriel, and another man are later seen in a building after he trailed Delfina and Hondo. They kept pressuring Delfina to sell the land to Arthur Novak, but she refused. Hondo stepped into which AJ told him that he was not supposed to meet him again. Hondo told them that they were leaving, but Gabriel and the other man started to attack Hondo which led to Hondo deflecting their attacks and stopping both of them. AJ pulled out a knife intent on cutting Hondo's neck until Hondo deflected his attack and threw him through the rectangular hole in the wall. Hondo and Delfina left. AJ and Gabriel left to tell Arthur about the confrontation leading to Hondo getting arrested and eventually released after meeting with Arthur.

AJ kept an eye on both Delfina and Hondo. AJ's intent on capturing Delfina to get her land led to a car chase in the town where Hondo and Delfina barely escaped the men who were coming after them. Despite what happened, AJ went to Isabel's house where Delfina was at and kidnapped her before Hondo could arrive.

"Madrugada"[]

AJ brought Delfina to her father where they revealed that they intend on torturing her to force her mother to sell the land. AJ enjoyed seeing Delfina struggle as he escorted her back into the building to continue the plan. Gabriel managed to trick the guards so that he could get to Delfina and help her escape. When AJ was aware of this, he shot and killed Gabriel and grabbed Delfina as she tried to escape. He held her down to the ground with his knife pointed at her which led to Hondo shooting and killing AJ.
