Abaddon, also known as The Organon, was a powerful artificial intelligence created by the Precursors who is an overarching antagonist of The Forerunner Saga, a minor antagonist in Halo: Fractures, the main antagonist of Halo Fractures: Promises To Keep and an overarching antagonist of the Halo franchise. It was built to be the overseer of the Domain and was considered a legend after being forgotten by the Forerunners for many years.

Biography[]

Abaddon was created by the Precursors long ago and after the Forerunner-Precursor War, it seemingly helped the Forerunners gain access to the Domain and be housed in Maethrillian's capital. In time, the knowledge and nature of it would be long forgotten. Since then, Abaddon was known by the Forerunners as the Organon.

Some believed that it still exists while others, including the Ur-Didact, considered it a myth. This revelation about Abaddon would be revealed by the Gravemind to the Librarian during the final minutes of the Forerunner-Flood War revealing that Abaddon does exist and is the same entity residing in the Domain while also revealing that the Domain was created by the Precursors long ago.

After the Forerunner-Flood War and the Activation of the Halo Array, the Domain would take enough damage as several Precursor artifacts would be destroyed though it survived, it would become malformed from the firing of the Halos. At some point, it would gain a number of both Promethean Crawlers and Aggressor Sentinels then utilizes its own version of the logic plague in them, corrupting and mutating them into Pseudo-Prometheans, monstrous machines that serves as hybrids of technology and organic combination. It soon attempted to stop a party of the Forerunners by revealing its true nature and performed methods to attempt to stop them. Despite its attempts to stop the Forerunners, it was ultimately defeated after a deadbolt was inserted, causing Abaddon to be terminated for good while the Domain eventually begin its healing.

Trivia[]

  • Given the fact that Abaddon uses a more advanced version of the logic plague to corrupt and mutate an AI into a monstrous machine such as the Pseudo-Promethean constructs, it is implied that it has a connection with the Gravemind due to the fact that Abaddon is a powerful entity despite also being a Precursor artificial intelligence itself.
  • The Guardian Custodes are modeled after Abaddon as its appearance resembles them but with a more humanoid face.
