Abaddon is the main protagonist of the video game Misanthropie.
Fueled by a deep hatred for humanity, Abaddon embarks on a mission to exterminate as many people as possible. His brutal violence, targeting both civilians and law enforcement, reflects his belief that humanity is irredeemable and undeserving of life.
Personality[]
Abaddon’s personality is defined by a limited emotional range and a deep, sadistic pleasure in violence. He derives satisfaction from the destruction he causes, viewing each act of brutality as a reaffirmation of his grim, nihilistic philosophy. Believing that all humans are as morally depraved and evil as he is, Abaddon harbors a profound disdain for the natural liberties afforded to others, considering them undeserved. His worldview fuels his violent tendencies, and he takes delight in the suffering of others, seeing it as both a necessary purge and a reflection of his belief that humanity is beyond redemption. His extreme behavior and dialogue are intentionally exaggerated to satirize hyper-violent mass-murder characters in media.
Biography[]
Background[]
Little is known about Abaddon’s past aside from his employment in construction. A Marine Corps jacket found in his home suggests he may have served in the military, though the origins of his ideologies remain uncertain.
The Events of Misanthropie[]
Abaddon’s killing spree (also known as "The Infernal Reckoning") begins with the murder of his boss at a construction site after being fired, escalating into a series of massacres across various locations. After killing his boss, he drives to a cemetery, where he murders mourning visitors, including a member of the Grimloch MC. He then walks to the attached church, where he crucifies the reverend before setting the building on fire. As he leaves the burning church, he is confronted by members of the Grimloch MC seeking revenge for their fallen comrade, triggering a shootout. Abaddon kills them and takes their weapons. Next, he heads to a plaza with a motel and a nightclub called The Palace Delight. He gets a room at the motel and makes remote charges which he then plants at each room's window. After detonating the bombs he guns down the fleeing victims at the motel. Once he's finished with the motel, he enters The Palace Delight and executes any injured survivors. Afterward, he drags a bleeding woman into a back room; while the act is not shown on screen, it is strongly implied that he rapes and kills her. Following this, he is confronted by the remaining members of the Grimloch MC, led by their leader, Merle. Another intense shootout ensues, ending with Abaddon wiping out the entire gang. He briefly escapes the scene before hailing a taxi to a far away suburban neighborhood, hoping to evade the authorities for a little longer. Upon invading a house, he finds a family inside and executes them, taking any supplies he can. While there he overhears on the TV that a celebrity, Dennis Liao, will be making an appearance for a signing of his new book at the nearby Avalon Academy of Virtue and Education, upon hearing this news, Abaddon begins preparing for his next target: The School. At the school, he kills as many students and staff as possible before making his way to the library, where he assassinates Dennis Liao and his bodyguard, Josef Nikolayev. This triggers another deadly shootout with law enforcement, during which Abaddon is shot and severely wounded. Bleeding out, he retreats to the outskirts and enters an abandoned hospital, searching for supplies to tend to his injuries. After patching himself up, he starts moving on to the nearby slums, where he then massacres the homeless population and triggers another shootout between him and law enforcement, forcing him to escape once more.
Fate[]
During his attempt to escape, he accidentally steps on a needle. He collapses and loses consciousness, leading to his capture. Abaddon awakens heavily restrained in Atascadero State Hospital, where he is constantly monitored and subjected to daily treatment. After several months, a new nurse named Dolly Harper is hired as his caretaker. Struggling with the ethics of caring for such a violent patient, she begins to secretly administer drugs to Abaddon with the intention of killing him. But instead of dying, it only started giving him vivid hallucinations of Hell and leading Abaddon to believe he is destined to become the Antichrist. In his visions he is guided by a voice known only as "The Soul of Desolation", which commands him to exterminate any demons in order to take over the underworld. He battles his way through The Dread Pit, retrieving the Three Books of Hell in order to cast upon a ritual against Lucifer. After gaining Lucifer's attention, Abaddon then challenges him for the throne in Hell and ultimately emerges victorious. Sobered from the hallucinations, Abaddon recognizes his visions weren't real. Enraged by his own mediocrity, he ends his life by biting through his tongue in a desperate, pathetic act of self-destruction.
