~ Abalone Cookie last words before getting drowned in Duskgloom Sea by Black Pearl Cookie

Abalone Cookie is the main antagonist of the Cookie Run: Kingdom special episode “A Mermaid’s Tale” and the overarching antagonist of the Legend of the Duskgloom Sea storyline. He is a greedy pirate and treasure hunter who sought for more fortune in the form of treasure from the undersea civilisation of Tearcrown, especially a pearl from a mermaid named White Pearl Cookie (now Black Pearl Cookie) that was entrusted to one of his underlings, Lord Oyster, who was on board the ship during a search.

He was voiced by Yun Yong-sik in the original Korean version, Shōhei Tabuchi in the Japanese dub, and Austen Moret in the English dub.

Biography[]

Abalone Cookie and his crew went out to sea with the predecessor of Crème Republic Elder Oyster Cookie, Lord Oyster on a journey to find legendary treasure. House Oyster at the time was floundering unlike in the present day so they need the help of the other noble houses. Desiring fortune and riches, they eventually had a mermaid, White Pearl Cookie, the youngest among the five Gem Mermaid sisters, who happened to get no powers from the Sea Foam Rite, in where Sea Fairy Cookie granted her powers to a family of mermaids, as bycatch. Abalone plans to hold the mermaid captive on their ship to interrogate her to retrieve information for a source of marine treasures, but Lord Oyster orders him to release the mermaid knowing that the eclipse will fall on the next day as the Tearcrowners attack the ship to rescue White Pearl Cookie, to which he responds by angrily berating Lord Oyster and when he tells him to leave the sinking ship, Abalone considers prioritising the goods on his ship over his men whilst leaving behind White Pearl Cookie. White Pearl tells Crimson Coral Cookie, the commander of the Tearcrowners and her oldest sister, to call off the attack as Lord Oyster who saved her was on board the Abalone Ship. Abalone’s crew members start to question him, but he silenced them on the bounds of a mutiny.

Lord Oyster bonds with the mermaid who takes him to the Garden of the Sea in Tearcrown. She promised him her tear, a pearl, which could allow him to not be soggy underwater, for saving him before bidding her farewell. It is revealed that White Pearl could only utilise her powers when there is no moonlight like during a total lunar eclipse, so she begins to regain her confidence. As the lunar eclipse begins, Abalone Cookie and his crew have set out to sea again this time on another ship to begin to capture the Tearcrowners for more treasure while intentionally blocking out the moon. Caring only about how much riches he can attain from the Tearcrowners, while not willing to lose his own trophies so far, he demands his crew to retreat.

The next day, Abalone Cookie tries to have Lord Oyster explain to the public about his encounter with the Tearcrowners. Wanting to go back to sea to continue his quest of catching the Gem Mermaids, in spite of the damage dealt to the their ship from yesterday’s ambush, and a crew member pointing out that Lord Oyster told them not to disturb the sea any further, Abalone gaslights Lord Oyster saying without the pearl, House Oyster will not have enough funds to recover if they suffered from a downfall, going as far as to convince him that he could buy back the pearl when everything doesn't go the way he intended. He obtains the pearl from Lord Oyster, and sends his fleet and crew out to sea yet again before the eclipse ends to block out the moonlight in order to weaken the mermaids. The Tearcrowners scramble to protect the children from Abalone Cookie’s fleet as Crimson Coral launches an assault on his ship, and orders White Pearl to stay beside with the Gem Mermaids' retainer Frilled Jellyfish Cookie. White Pearl goes against the orders of Frilled Jellyfish to check the Sea Fairy Tear at their shrine, as her powers would start to fade by the time moonlight is returned. As the now-vulnerable White Pearl is about to be harpooned by Abalone's first mate, Frilled Jellyfish sacrifices herself to protect the mermaid.

Afterwards, White Pearl Cookie spots her pearl in Abalone Cookie's hands to which he responses that he managed to have his hands on it due to Lord Oyster's "lack of a spine." Lord Oyster comes back to explain to her what actually happened for "giving" her pearl to Abalone Cookie and "betraying" him and desperately promising to give back the pearl but an enraged White Pearl Cookie demands the sea to sweep him away. Abalone has his crew pursue White Pearl and retrieve the vulnerable Gem Mermaid. They managed to subdue the mermaid, but Crimson Coral Cookie intervenes where Abalone boasts of her swimming right into his net. White Pearl Cookie refuses to stay behind her sister, where Abalone compliments the sisters' bond only to be surrounded by the rest of the Gem Mermaids who grant Crimson Coral their powers.

Abalone Cookie continues to gloat about capturing the mermaids, but White Pearl Cookie goes back to the Sea Fairy Tear and absorbs its power, upset about the apparent death of her only friend, Frilled Jellyfish Cookie, and Lord Oyster “breaking” his promise to her, becoming Black Pearl Cookie, leading to the erection of the Tower of Frozen Waves. Conversely, Abalone still greedily insists on having his crew try to grab every last mermaid and treasure. Frilled Jellyfish eventually recovers but Black Pearl destroys all of Abalone Cookie's fleet, at the cost of ruining what's left of Tearcrown, turning it into Black Pearl's personal living quarters in the Duskgloom Sea, where any land Cookie that ever happens to step into such waters will be "smashed into pieces", putting an end to the greedy treasure Hunter for good.
