Abhoth, The Source of Uncleanliness, is an Outer God in the Cthulhu Mythos.
Overview[]
Abhoth is often described as a "horrid, dark gray protean mass" that serves as a source of all "miscreation and abomination". Similar to Outer Goddess Shub-Niggurath, Abhoth is constantly spawning obscene monsters into existence, who are often simply grabbed by their parents and devoured again. The children who manage to survive, usually abandon their parents and wander off.
Like most Outer Gods, Abhoth is often beyond human-comprehension, though he is known to be at least of a twisted and cynical mind, similar to Nyarlathotep.
He is currently residing in the cavern of Y'quaa beneath Mount Voormithadreth, and similar to Cthulhu, he can influence others telepathically from a distance.
Trivia[]
- Abhoth is a later addition to the Cthulhu Mythos by writer Clark Ashton Smith.
