Abigail Marston (née Roberts) is the tritagonist of the 2010 action-adventure video game Red Dead Redemption and a major character in its 2018 prequel Red Dead Redemption II.
She was voiced by Sophia Marzocchi in Red Dead Redemption, and by Cali Elizabeth Moore in Red Dead Redemption II.
Biography[]
A former prostitute, Abigail was John Marston's lover and they had a son Jack Marston, who John refused to acknowledge was his.
While the gang was hiding in the snowy mountains of the Grizzlies East, Abigail spurns Arthur Morgan and Javier Escuella to search for him and they save him from wolves and return to camp. Once they relocate to Horseshoe Overlook, Abigail continues to fail to convince John to act as a father to Jack before asking Arthur to take Jack out fishing, where he meets Pinkerton agents Andrew Milton and Edgar Ross.
The gang relocate to Clemens Point after being found by Leviticus Cornwall, where they attempt to manipulate the two rivalling families. They are caught and Jack is kidnapped by Catherine Braithwaite, who passes him to mob boss Angelo Bronte, to Abigail's distress. Jack is eventually rescued and John promises to be a more attentive father.
Abigail participates in the Lemoyne National Bank robbery, but is forced to escape when it goes awry and Hosea Matthews is killed and John is arrested. Her and John's survival leads to Dutch suspecting that they were informants to the Pinkertons and he thus procrastinates rescuing John when he returns to camp. Arthur and Sadie Adler rescue John instead, infuriating Dutch.
Abigail is later captured by Agent Milton, who prepares to trial her for murder and presumably torture her for the gang's location before executing her. Arthur and Sadie rescue her and learn that Micah Bell is the real informant. Sadie and Abigail leave to reunite with Jack while Arthur confront Micah, dying as he does so. John later reunites with Abigail and Jack and they leave for the Yukon, but return after they fail to strike it rich.
John and Abigail proceed to travel around the country looking for work. John repeatedly gets into trouble, to Abigail's distress. They find work at Pronghorn Ranch, but after John is confronted by armed men on a shopping trip and lays siege on a gang, Abigail leaves with Jack, leaving John alone.
To win her back, John buys Beecher's Hope and builds a ranch there. Abigail and Jack eventually return, finding out that Uncle and Charles Smith are now living with them. John later accompanies Sadie and Charles to storm Micah's hideout despite Abigail's protests, killing Micah. John and Abigail later get legally married while Sadie and Charles leave.
John's killing of Micah leads Edgar Ross, now FBI director, to Beecher's Hope. John and Abigail are arrested and John is extorted into hunting down three former members: Bill Williamson, Javier Escuella and Dutch himself. Ross initially honors his word and lets John go back to his family, but then betrays him and storms Beecher's Hope, killing John and Uncle. Abigail is heartbroken by John's death.
Abigail dies in 1914, buried next to John and Uncle. How Abigail died is unknown, but it is possible she died of disease or committed suicide out of grief for her husband's death after waiting to raise Jack to adulthood.
