Ack-Ack is a character in Fallout 4, serving as the main antagonist of the side quest "Returning the Favor." She is a raider leader who heads a small gang holed up inside an inactive communications satellite station.
She is also a playable unit in the Fallout-themed wargame Fallout: Wasteland Warfare.
She is voiced by Salli Saffioti.
Appearance[]
Ack-Ack is a middle-aged woman with a uniquely heavyset build. Like most raiders, her entire body is caked with dirt and grime, with clown-like black face paint covering most of her face. Her blonde hair is pulled into twin pigtails. She may spawn with standard raider armor or heavy cage armor, depending on the player's level.
Biography[]
Background[]
Not much is known about Ack-Ack's background outside of the description for her Fallout: Wasteland Warfare miniature. Known for her violent raids on local farms and settlements, she and her gang frequently forced the settlers of Abernathy farm to supply them with food. On one such occasion, the Abernathys' eldest daughter, Mary, attempted to stand up to Ack-Ack, only to be mercilessly gunned down. Before leaving, the raiders added insult to injury by stealing Mary's locket, an heirloom that had been in her mother's family for generations.
Events of Returning the Favor[]
The Sole Survivor discovers Abernathy farm to find Mary's father, Blake Abernathy, still on edge after Ack-Ack's last arrival. When the Sole Survivor learns about Mary's fate and expresses sympathy, Blake encourages them to go after Ack-Ack and retrieve Mary's locket. Having overheard the raiders mention the name of the station before they left, Blake gives away the location of her hideout, saying he would not mind if she and her gang were to share Mary's fate. The Sole Survivor arrives to find that negotiating with Ack-Ack for the locket or the farm's safety is impossible. She can be found in the depths of the concrete bunker guarding the toolbox containing Mary's locket, ready to tear through any unwanted guests with her signature minigun.
Ack-Ack is a dangerous foe capable of dealing high damage in quick bursts and healing herself, but the Sole Survivor can overcome her by taking advantage of the station's dim lighting and complex layout, taking shots at her and her grunts and repositioning when her minigun begins to whirl. She's also something of a glass cannon, unable to endure much punishment before dying, and her movement speed is severely hampered by her minigun. The Sole Survivor can take advantage of these weaknesses to avoid fighting her entirely, instead sneaking up behind her and delivering a well-deserved neck snap that will send her oversized body crumpling to the floor, dead.
Alternatively, Ack-Ack can be pacified with the Intimidation perk or snuck around to obtain Mary's locket without killing her, though the latter will be difficult without luring her far from her patrol area. If Ack-Ack is not killed during Returning the Favor, she may become the target of the radiant quest Raider Troubles, in which the Minutemen get word that she and her remaining men have been harassing a nearby settlement. The Sole Survivor will have to take her life to ensure she can no longer be a threat to anyone.
