~ Adam’s breakdown and last words before being fatally stabbed in the back by Niffty.

Adam is the main antagonist of Season 1 in the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel.

Famously known as the First Man, after his death, Adam was transformed into an Archangel and became the leader of the Exorcists, who serve as his own private military. He created and leads the yearly Exterminations, where he seeks to kill as many Sinners as possible in Hell to avoid them becoming strong enough to rebel, and simply for the fun of it. He is the ex-husband of Lilith Morningstar, the Queen of Hell, who is revealed at the end of the season to be in Heaven after making a deal with Adam.

He was voiced by Alex Brightman, who also portrayed Sir Pentious in the same series, Robo Fizz in the spinoff series Helluva Boss, Beetlejuice in both the Broadway version and Teen Titan Go!, Gabe Miller in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Temeluchus and the Watcher in Dead End: Paranormal Park.

Appearance[]

Despite his status as an angel, Adam still looks like a normal human instead of transforming into something else: His skin is pale, his eyes are golden and he sports messy, dirty brown hair and stubble on his chin. His face might have been construed as handsome, were he not in utter rage at the one time it was shown. He walks around in a long, flowing white robe, and to show he's an angel, possesses a halo and luminous wings. Until its destruction, Adam spent is entire screentime in an LED mask with diabolic horns, yellow eyes that lack pupils and sharp teeth, ironically making him look far more monstrous and intimidating than the actual demons of Hell.

Adam's blood is different to that of a regular human due to being a golden color, likely due to him transcending to angelhood upon death since Exorcists have also been seen bleeding gold.

Personality[]

Extermination is ENTERTAINMENT!
~ Adam expressing his sadism in annually slaughtering sinners.

Adam is extremely rude, condescending, sadistic and immature. Despite his blatantly unholy behavior, he considers himself infallible and righteous in his slaughter of demons, claiming that the Sinners themselves are entirely to blame for their own plight. During his meeting with Charlie, he seems to do his best to act as obnoxiously entitled and "macho" as possible on purpose, often to the point of misogyny (which in fact, leads credence to the creation myth at the beginning of the episode), and even admits to being sexually promiscuous. He also goes so far as to admit that the Exterminations are done for his own entertainment. Ironically, Adam's behavior is not very different than the typical demons that appear in the franchise. It is also heavily implied that the annual purges are done not out of any sense of justice or punishment, but to preserve Heaven's authority in any actual uprising.

However, in spite of his negative traits, Adam has an actual friendship with his right-hand woman, Lute, whom he happily congratulates for her accomplishments. Before his death, he looked at Lute and smiled softly, showing that he did indeed have a soft spot for her. He does, however, reject her idea of an immediate surprise attack, as he believes such an assault would expose his larger plan, which demonstrates that he has some level of self-control. He also demonstrates that he is a capable leader and strategist who curved a new extermination without arousing suspicion, showing that he does have some measure of intelligence despite his over-the-top, cocky behavior.

The episode "Welcome to Heaven" also shows that Adam is proven have a rocky relationship with Sera, foolishly disobeying her one rule (which is to never talk about the Extermination in the presence of Heaven's populace) and is easily annoyed when told to get rid of Charlie and Vaggie. Despite this, Sera is the only person Adam is at least willing to listen to and during the court case, he showed a desire for her attention in the form of asking why he's in Heaven in a hopeful tone.

In the same episode, Adam is proven a hypocrite. When Charlie demands he provide the actual requirements for a soul to enter Heaven, he at first seems flustered, clearly not knowing himself. He manages to put together a brief list: "Act charitable, don't steal, and stick it to the man." Charlie then shows him live footage of Angel Dust doing all three, ordering a round of drinks for everyone in a bar, preventing Niffty from stealing, and then telling off his evil boss Valentino to protect Niffty. Despite all this, Adam's still refuses to accept Charlie's argument as even worth considering.

Even though he condones violence like murder and maiming, Adam draws the line at excessively and graphically tearing out internal organs and rejoicing far too much in it. When Lute declared she would pull Vaggie's "c*** mouth out her ass", Adam was disturbed to the point of telling her to chill out. This implies he might take joy in killing others but prefers to do it quick and relatively clean compared to his right-hand.

Adam doesn't like having the fact he was a failure as a husband to Lilith and Eve pointed out. When Lucifer points this out, Adam vows to kill him; likely using the fallen angel as a scapegoat for his own self loathing.

Biography[]

Backstory[]

According to legend, as recounted by Charlie, Adam was the first man created alongside Lilith, the first woman and Charlie’s mother. Though they were made equal, Adam demanded dominance over Lilith, but she defied him, ultimately fleeing the Garden of Eden. Captivated by her fierce independence, Lilith caught the eye of the angel Lucifer Morningstar, who saw in her a kindred spirit, the two falling in love. Later, after Eve was created, Lucifer offered her the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, seeking to spread his ideals of free will to humanity. However, this act led to the spread of evil and the creation of Hell, where Lucifer and Lilith were exiled. It’s important to note that this version of the story takes many liberties with traditional accounts, and since it’s told by Charlie, the daughter of Lucifer and Lilith, it may be biased.

Sera claims that Adam was the first human soul to enter Heaven, though neither she nor Adam knows why. Once in Heaven, Adam became an all-powerful Archangel in charge of protecting Heaven and, after centuries of human deaths, proposed a drastic solution to Hell’s overpopulation: an annual purge where he and his army of Exorcists would descend to Hell and kill all the sinners. Sera secretly approved, and the Exorcists kept this plan hidden from the rest of Heaven.

Seven years before the series begins, Lilith signed a mysterious "deal" with Adam where she gets to stay in Heaven for as long as she wishes, though it's unknown what Adam would get in return.

At least three years before the events of the series, during an Extermination, Adam and his right-hand woman Lute deserted Vaggie, one of their Exorcists, after she spared a demon child. This act ultimately led her to encounter Charlie Morningstar, Lucifer's daughter, the two beginning to date.

Season 1[]

Meeting Charlie[]

After the most recent Extermination, Adam was supposed to meet up with Lucifer for a business meeting, but the latter instead sent out his daughter Charlie for unknown reasons; presumably because the two don't get along. Adam and Lute meet Charlie via hologram and toy with her, bragging about Adam's sexual conquests, and dismissing her proposal for cooperation on her Hotel project. Instead, he declares that the purges will now occur twice a year, with the next one scheduled in six months.

Later on, in Heaven, Adam and Lute recover the corpse of an Exorcist; the first time an angel ever died during Extermination. While an enraged Lute demands to immediately wipe out all Sinner, Adam tells her to calm down as they can't risk "them catching on", but reassures her that no demons will be left alive once the next Extermination happens.

Trial in Heaven[]

Several months, Adam is hanging out with Lute in Heaven when he notices Charlie and Vaggie being shown around by Emily. Adam prepares to "take care of this" but is stopped by Lute, who reminds him to keep the Extermination a secret as per Sera’s orders. Adam, annoyed at being silenced, is confronted by Sera herslef, who shows disdain for his actions and orders him to contain the situation.

Adam and Lute later confront Vaggie in her hotel room, taunting her and revealing that they know her true identity as an Exorcist. Adam threatens to expose her to Charlie unless she sabotages the upcoming meeting to shut down the Hazbin Hotel. When Vaggie refuses, Adam spitefully reminds her of the thousands she has killed since dating Charlie before leaving for court.

During the trial, Adam mocks Charlie’s arguments about the hotel in a childish manner until she brings up Angel Dust as evidence of potential redemption. When questioned by Charlie about what it takes to get into Heaven, Adam hesitates before passing Vaggie a note that reads, "Act selfless, don’t steal, stick it to the man." Adam then presents a vision globe showing Angel Dust’s progress, which he tries to dismiss, but Charlie pleads to continue watching, with Sera’s approval.

As the court witnesses Angel Dust’s progress, Adam struggles to argue against the evidence, especially since it raises questions about how souls are admitted to Heaven. When Charlie and Emily advocate for redemption, Adam and Lute argue that "Hell is Forever" and Angel Dust can't be redeemed. However, Adam foolishly reveals the existence of the Exterminations in a moment of impulse, causing Emily to turn against Sera over the horrors of the purge.

As Charlie and Emily expose Heaven as a "lie" due to vile people being allowed to stay while reformed people aren't allowed a second chance, Adam and Lute sadistically reveal that Vaggie was an Exorcist, much to Charlie’s horror. Despite having a weak case, Adam gloats about winning and taunts Charlie and Vaggie, boasting about the upcoming Extermination and threatening to target the hotel first. When Sera reprimands him for his behavior, Adam, defeated, reluctantly apologizes and leaves the courtroom.

Attack on the Hotel[]

As Charlie and her allies prepare for battle, Adam declares his intention to wipe out every sinner at the Hazbin Hotel, offering a bounty for Vaggie’s head before sending out the Exorcists to Hell in what would soon be his final Extermination. However, Alastor traps the angels in a demonic shield, which Lute reports to Adam. Unfazed, Adam sarcastically remarks about the obviousness of her statement before launching a powerful punch that shatters the barrier. He then engages Alastor in combat, converting his sword into an axe and claiming that a mortal soul is no match for him. Alastor, angered by Adam’s arrogance, counters that true power comes from one "taking charge of their own fate", catching Adam off guard and sending him crashing into a billboard. Having grown tired of the Radio Demon, Adam first breaks his cane before slashing him in the chest, leaving Alastor to teleport away to save his life while Adam sarcastically says his goodbyes to him.

Adam proceeds to fire his "holy light" at everyone, injuring Nifty and prompting Sir Pentious to sacrifice himself in a failed attempt to defeat Adam. Adam and Lute then confront a distraught Charlie, who has transformed into a stronger form, and Vaggie. Lute battles Vaggie while Adam attacks Charlie, taunting her about her mission to protect sinners. Charlie seizes an opportunity to stab Adam in the shoulder, calling him a "pig" as they engage in a fierce battle. Enraged yet somewhat amused the princess actually managed to make him bleed, Adam battles Charlie.

Adam eventually overpowers Charlie, grabbing her by the throat and declaring that he will kill all her friends and everyone in Hell. Before he can strike, he is violently punched by Lucifer Morningstar, sending him crashing into a balcony window, his mask shattered. Enraged, Adam attacks Lucifer, but is taunted and mocked for his failed marriages and inferiority complex, which only fuels his fury as the King of Hell effortlessly dodges all his attacks without even fighting back to show his superiority.

Adam unleashes a massive beam that splits the hotel in half, sending Charlie plummeting, but she is saved by Lucifer. Adam charges at the enemies, but Charlie uses her powers to block his fist, shocking him as he realizes she is stronger than him. Lucifer then violently beats Adam for daring to endanger his daughter, taunting him that "he's in [Lucifer's] house". Just as Lucifer is about to deliver the final blow, Charlie stops him by declaring that Adam has had enough. Deciding to set a good example for Charlie (despite everything of what Adam did), Lucifer agrees to spare Adam by mockfully asking "How's mercy taste, you little bitch?".

Refusing to accept defeat, an enraged Adam proclaims that the Morningstars "don't get to end this"; for he is the First Man who started all of mankind, while Lucifer is "just some fucking clown or something". Adam continues to rant at the Sinners around him, claiming they should be worshipping him for being the reason they even exist, before being stabbed in the back by Niffty at the last second. Niffty continues to stab him over and over as her friends watch in surprise and the Vees in pure shock at her being the one to land the final blow on the First Man. As Niffty walks away, and injured and armless Lute runs over to Adam, begging her to stay with him. He gives one final smile to his friend before finally dying, his soul destroyed forever. Lucifer then angrily orders Lute to take the rest of the Exorcists and leave Hell as they have lost. Having no choice, Lute and the remaining Exorcists fly back to Heaven, leaving Adam's corpse (along with dozens of other dead Exorcists) behind in Hell.

Legacy[]

Charlie would begin to lose hope in her dream with the hotel destroyed; however, Lucifer would proceed to cheer her up and convince her to continue, using his powers to create a larger, better Hazbin Hotel. Meanwhile, Sir Pentious reincarnates in Heaven as a Winner, ultimately proving Adam wrong and showing that Sinners can ultimately be redeemed. Despite Adam's plans going down in vain, a vengeful Lute finds Lilith in Heaven and shows her Adam's halo as proof he's dead, and now she's in charge of Exorcists, demanding that the First Woman goes to Hell to put Charlie in her place.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Angelic power: Being the First Human and first virtuous soul to ascend to Heaven and became an Angel, Adam possess great Angelic power. The level of Angelic strength he possessed proves to be immense, surpassing all but the strongest of Angels and Demons. As the leader of the Exorcist, his private Angelic Military Force, he is the most powerful member amongst his battle-hardened Exorcist Angels.
    • Immense strength: Adam possessed immense levels of strength, capable of casually smashing a light projector in front of him with his hands in a moment of rage and when he was serious, he was capable of destroying Alastor's barrier, which an army of Exorcist Angels struggled to break, with a single punch. Immediately after that, he went on to confront the Radio Demon and despite Alastor being a powerful demon Overlord of Hell, the latter was ultimately overpowered and nearly killed by Adam's great Angelic power, and later on also overpowered Charlie in their first fight. However, he was no match for Lucifer, as Adam was easily overpowered by the Fallen Angel. But then Charlie by her new strange ability, which proved that she’s truly stronger than Adam.
    • Nigh-invulnerability: As with all Angels, Adam is mostly invulnerable to any form of damage due to divine physiology. The only known way to damage and kill an Angel is through the use of Weapons crafted by Angelic Steel, or being harmed by another fellow Angel with relative or greater power than Adam, such as Lucifer or Sera. As such, he is virtually impossible to fatally hurt such as when Alastor's tendrils fail to noticeably hurt him or make him bleed.
  • Nigh-immortality: Due to being a soul rather than a living human, Adam is almost impervious to dying (again), with only angelic weaponry being enough to kill him.
    • Photokinesis: Adam has shown the ability to project powerful beams of holy light from his hands.
  • Flight: Adam possessed a set of golden angelic wings that he could use to fly at great speeds. He could also remove a feather from his wings to use as a quill pen.
  • Nephokinesis: Adam can control clouds he creates and make them into steps.
    • Cloud creation: With a flap of his wings, he can create a gust of clouds around him.

Trivia[]

  • Following his reveal on Twitter, many who worked on the show, including the creator, Vivziepop, described Adam as one of their favorite characters because of how fun he was to write and watch. He is also a favorite character among many fans.
    • Because of this, many fans want Adam to return in season two, possibly as a sinner demon, believing that he has a ton of potential that he didn’t fully live up to and were disappointed that he was killed off so early.
      • Vivziepop had confirmed that Adam, with the voiced by Alex Brightman, will return on the second season but she didn't answer how he will return.
  • In the season finale Lucifer refers to him having "really let himself go", implying that he is overweight under his robe.
  • A joke made by fans about Adam’s design and personality is that he is the angel version of Blitzo from Helluva Boss.
  • Adam is snacking on ribs during his conversation with Charlie, an ironic reference to how, in the Biblical story Eve was created from one of his ribs. This has caused some to joke that he’s trying to regrow his ribs by eating more of them.
  • It is debated by fans whether Adam ate the fruit like in the Bible. Assuming he did, then he is aware of the difference between Good and Evil, but only assists in whatever side suits him, while if he didn’t, then he was unfairly kicked out of Eden and fails to recognize the impact of his actions.
  • It's implied that even Adam doesn’t even know what got him into Heaven, which makes sense considering how awful of a person he is. While yet to be confirmed, fans have theorized that the reason for Adam being in Heaven despite his sinful nature is because of nepotism due to being the first human on Earth. (In short, what would have been the point if every human Heaven creates went to hell? So Adam got a free pass.)
    • Another website, TV Tropes, pointed out Adam couldn't have committed any of the Seven Deadly Sins during life due to the Earth being empty of a society and processed goods.
      • His prideful nature as the first man would just be brushed off due to how big of an importance that role was.
      • With Lilith banished to hell and Eve the only woman live, Adam could only lust for one woman.
      • Being lazy was impossible as Adam had to fight daily for his sustenance and shelter.
      • He couldn't be greedy due to having to scavenge for resources.
      • He couldn't be jealous of anyone other than Lucifer, whom Heaven cast out; it was like sharing a mutual enemy, so Heaven overlooked it.
      • As he has to work hard for his meals by scavenging and hunting, he couldn't be a glutton as he had to share his bounty with his family.
      • The only person he ever hated or was angry with, again, was Lucifer. Just as stated before, Heaven labeled Lucifer the bad guy; so it was "okay" to bear a grudge by their standards.
  • Ironically, despite being an angel, Adam has shown no traits of the seven heavenly virtues, and instead committed all of the seven deadly sins:
    • Pride: Probably his most defining sin, Adam believes that he is superior to everyone else in both Heaven and Hell due to his status as the first human in the Hellaverse. He also arrogantly claims that he has never made a mistake in his life. In his final moments, he rants to the sinners about how they should all be worshiping him as a god since they all descend from him.
    • Gluttony: Adam is implied to be overweight underneath his robe, most likely from overeating, as shown when he indulges in eating a plate that’s stacked with ribs. In The Story of Hell, in the beginning of the first episode of the series, he is depicted as skinnier, meaning his time in Heaven changed his appearance over time.
    • Lust: Adam is extremely perverted and likes to refer to himself as "dick master" due to being the first man on Earth. He also openly admits to having sex with women in Heaven. Additionally, he named Vaggie after a vagina during her time as an Exorcist, stating that it’s the "best thing ever", something of which she finds degrading.
    • Wrath: Adam hates sinners and enjoys killing them during exterminations, believing that they are unworthy of living and deserve to die. He also gets incredibly petty and spiteful for little reasons or when he doesn’t get his way, as shown when he spitefully reveals Vaggie as a former exorcist to Charlie for calling him out on his hypocrisy.
    • Greed: Adam likes to make everything about himself and what he wants, believing that he deserves everything he wants due to his status as The First Man. During his meeting with Charlie, he makes most of the conversation about himself without giving Charlie a chance to talk. Additionally, he tried to control Lilith and make her submit to him during their time in the Garden of Eden, showing that he saw her merely as an object to control rather than a human being.
    • Envy: Adam harbors a deep grudge against Lucifer for seducing Lilith, and possibly Eve, even though he was the one who was abusive to her and tries to kill Lucifer in a jealous rage after he taunts him over losing his wives to him during their battle. He also expressed jealousy at one of his dates taking an interest in a drummer at a concert instead of him.
    • Sloth: Despite being an incredibly powerful angel and the leader of the Exorcists, Adam mainly has his soldiers do all the work for him while he sits back and watches, only getting involved if needed. He also didn’t even bother to show up to his meeting with Charlie in person and instead appears as a hologram.
  • It's highly likely that the reason why Adam is so evil is due to him being spoiled rotten because of how he had the whole world in his favor on how he wanted to see it fit, making him labeled to be too special for his benefit. Ironically, this makes him more in line with the biblical interpretation of The Devil than Lucifer in the series; having his perfection corrupt him.
  • Adam is left handed, proven be how he holds his guitar while playing it. This is another irony, as when the story of Genesis was first written, being left handed was seen as the sign of an evil person, "left-handed". being the original meaning of "sinister".
    • That said, during Charlie's telling of the Legend, Adam is seen pointing with his right-hand, and when he’s writing what he thinks gets you into Heaven, he again uses his right-hand to write, meaning he's ambidextrous.
  • Adam serves as a representation for toxic masculinity coming from religious men who felt entitled and see women (or in his case, sinners) as inferior and demanded complete control over them as shown when Adam tried to control Lilith which caused her to reject him for his behavior. With that being said, he did seem to have a genuine friendship with Lute.
  • Despite having a foul mouth (being the most foul-mouthed character in the series) and willing to use the C-word numerous times, he seems to think Lute's order to the other Exorcists to "Rip out Vaggie's c*** mouth through her ass!" was too obscene.
    • Though this is more due to Adam preferring quick and clean kills as much as possible; all his strikes with his axe were meant as death blows, not to eviscerate his targets.
  • His human appearance is based on his voice actor Alex Brightman.
  • He is, so far, the only character in Hazbin Hotel to break the fourth wall, that being when describing what he thinks are Hell’s biggest problems, he mentions ugly people and grins at the camera, implying that the people watching Hazbin Hotel are ugly.
  • While he is based on the Biblical interpretation of Adam, many watchers have noted that Adam's backstory and arrogant characterization in the show are almost the same and parallel with that of Iblis, the Islamic interpretation of The Devil. In the Quran, Iblis is one and the same as Satan and Lucifer (Iblis is an Arabic name for Satan), having been a Jinn named Azazil who, like Adam, rose to the same level and rank of the Heavens and became one of Allah's (The Arabic name for God) most loyal and pious servants along with the Angels. However, similar to Adam's portrayal, his rise in power led to him becoming arrogant and boastful of his importance, believing that he could do no wrong and was superior to others, leading to him refusing to bow down to Prophet Adam (AS) due to believing that he was superior to him because of his status and the fact that Adam (AS) was made of clay and Azazil was made of smokeless fire. As a result, Allah cast him out of Heaven; rather than repenting for his mistake, he held on to the belief that he was in the right and instead bargained with Allah to extend his time until the Day of Judgement, where he would use it to influence the rest of humanity into immorality to bring them to Hell with him, renamed as Iblis and widely known to the Muslims as Al-Shaytaan (The Devil).
    • Additionally, while Hazbin Hotel portrays Heaven's leaders as corrupt Angels who punished Lucifer because he wanted to introduce free will by giving Eve the Fruit, in the Quran, it is said that Allah is a merciful deity who allowed free will to Adam (AS) and Hawa (the Arabic name for Eve) as a test to see if they would use the free will for the right choices and not be tempted by Shaytaan's influence in the Garden. Additionally, unlike Adam's portrayal in the show, Adam (AS) was humbled and begged for forgiveness for disobeying Allah and was granted such, but was sent to Earth as a test for him and the rest of humanity to see if they would use their free will to make the right choices in life and not be tempted into immorality, in exchange for eternal happiness and freedom in Heaven come the Day of Judgement.
    • As a result of this, while Hazbin Hotel has received critical acclaim, it has received backlash from the Muslim community for Adam's portrayal in the show for showing him in a negative, villainous light while Lucifer of all people is instead portrayed as a hero and a victim, basically switching their roles and character. Many have even accused the fact that the show's lessons and themes in redemption and forgiveness only work because the story portrays Adam and Heaven in a villainous light to make the Devil look like a sympathetic character and justify Charlie's crusade.
  • Adam shares a surprising number of similarities with Alastor. Fittingly enough, they would meet and fight in the Season 1 finale.
    • They were both humans before becoming the beings they are in the present.
    • Both reached a position of power through massacres (Alastor murdering other Overlords and Adam with exterminations).
    • Both had a dark past as humans (Alastor as a serial killer and Adam as a toxic man).
    • Both are related to a possible solution to overpopulation (Alastor with the Hazbin Hotel and Adam with the exterminations).
    • Neither of them believes in solutions to the problems of infernal overpopulation, they only participate for their entertainment.
    • Neither of them believes it is possible to rehabilitate a sinner, maintaining that he only lives once and that is the opportunity to make things right.
    • Both enjoy killing demons.
    • They both have an adept with whom they seem to get along quite well (Alastor with Husk and Niffty, and Adam with Lute).
  • He is the second antagonist in Hazbin Hotel to die after the Loan Sharks in “Dad Beat Dad” (not including Sir Pentious or the Egg Boiz because they were redeemed before they died).
  • Although Sera says that Adam was the first human soul in Heaven, in the Bible the first human to die was Abel, Adam's second son, who was killed by Cain. It is unknown if Abel is in Hell, or if in the Hazbin Hotel timeline Adam died first.
  • In some traditions of Hebrew folklore, Adam had, in addition to Cain, Abel and Seth, with Eve, a son with a succubus called Naamah, the demon born from this union is nothing more and nothing less than himself Asmodeus but this is likely not canon in the Hellaverse. However, if confirmed, then Asmodeus would be related to the sinners, due to all of them being Adams descendants.
  • Following his debut, many fans have compared Adam to Mammon from Helluva Boss in terms of personality and appearance, with both of them being egotistical and misogynistic and both being associated with rock music and guitars.
  • Some fans theorize that Adam died of herpes, due to him believing that it is the biggest problem.
    • This isn't likely as STDs wouldn't have existed yet.
  • Some fans theorize that the mastermind behind D.H.O.R.K.S., the goverment organization in Helluva Boss, could be Cain, the eldest son of Adam, but this is unconfirmed.
  • The reason Adam's mask has glitched before Lucifer has punched him is due to how while he is allowed to hurt and kill Sinners, he isn't allowed to hurt and kill Hellborns, as Charlie was a Hellborn, which caused Lucifer to take Adam down.
  • Adam is often thought of as being race lifted from his Biblical counterpart from a Middle Eastern man to a Caucasian. However, upon closer inspection, it can be observed that Adam's skin color is closer to grey than it is white. It's more likely that his design is simply following the theme of Heaven's inhabitants have fantastical technicolor skin.
