Adam Pratt is the secondary antagonist in Season 4 of the Netflix show You

He is a pretentious entrepreneur and the boyfriend, later husband, of Lady Phoebe.

He is portrayed by Lukas Gage in his first villainous role.

Biography[]

Adam is an American expatriate who is the son of a wealthy East Coast magnate but never lives up to his family's venerable standards as he's always partying a lot in the Sundry House, a nightclub he owns, and is behind a lot of debts he owes, leading most of his employees to resign when it's clear to them that Adam's won't make good on his promise to pay them. He's in a relationship with Lady Phoebe and takes it upon himself to marry her so that her wealth he would benefit from to settle them.

However, Adam proves to be an unfaithful boyfriend to Phoebe, as he's asking male employees to pee on his face to pleasure himself. Adam is ashamed to try this out with Phoebe because he thinks he is inferior to her, leading Phoebe to break up with him. He blames Joe Goldberg, who is using an identity as professor Jonathan Moore, as he was the one who tipped Phoebe off on the matter earlier. He later watches alongside his friends as Roald accuses Joe of being the Eat-the-Rich killer, due to finding him kneeling over Gemma's dead body. However, the alleged real killer "Rhys Montrose" captures Joe and Roald before being released by Kate, but it's later revealed that "Rhys" is Joe's split personality.

During Kate's art gallery fundraiser to honor Simon, Phoebe is held hostage by Dawn Brown, a middle-aged paparrazi who has an unhealthy obsession with her and tries to protect her from the killer. She is framed by Joe for the murders of Malcolm, Simon, and Gemma and arrested by the police, though not before she warns Phoebe about Adam's true colors. Phoebe once again breaks up with Adam, but as she starts suffering PTSD symptoms from her previous traumatic experience with Dawn, Adam uses her deteriorating health to his own advantage to marry her, which she quickly accepts, much to Kate's shock. At Adam and Phoebe's engagement party-turned-wedding, both Kate and Joe try to convince Phoebe otherwise, but are unsuccessful and removed from the celebration by the bouncers on Adam's orders. Shortly after they marry, Phoebe's state worsens and she has a mental breakdown, leading her to be committed to psychiatric care. Adam is later murdered by three hitmen posing as prostitutes, hired by Kate's estranged father, Tom Lockwood. Consequently, Phoebe is free to start over and moves to Thailand to teach English lessons to kids.
