Adam Richmond, Trevor Burkett, and Christopher Stafford are the overarching antagonists of the Criminal Minds episode "What Happens in Mecklinburg...". They're a group of college football players and gang-rapists targeted by Sheila Harrison, for the rape and manslaughter of Sheila's sister Laurye-Anne.

Portrayals[]

  • Richmond was portrayed by Luke Loving.
  • Burkett was portrayed by Matthew Helfer.
  • Stafford was portrayed by Ty LaPlaunt.

Biography[]

Richmond arranged for himself, Burkett, and Stafford to gang-rape Laurye-Anne in the den of the college frat house during a party there. In the hopes of discrediting her, they held her against her will in the basement until she drowned a full bottle of vodka, then dropped her off at Sheila's front door. Laurye-Anne told Sheila everything before she was taken away by paramedics and slipped into a coma. Sheila would later be convinced to take her sister off life support when her condition wasn't improving. But while the date was approaching closer and closer, Sheila planned revenge on all the rapists and killers, the accomplices who covered up everything, coach Michael Smith and ER doctor Edward Calder, and even Christy White, Laurye-Anne's classmate who brought her to the party.

Sheila first held Smith, Burkett, and Christy captive in her basement after tasing and kidnapping them, tying them to the pipes in the ceiling. Burkett suffered the worst, being beaten and raped with a fire iron before acid was poured down his throat. He was left in the woods and rushed to the hospital his fate left unknown. Richmond was abducted next, and he tried to apologize, but Sheila bitterly refused his admission of guilt. Stafford was arrested before Sheila could snatch him as well, and he confessed to everything interrogation, as did Calder around the same time, since they were also suspects in Sheila's crimes. When Sheila grew furious enough to stab Smith to death with the poker, the FBI raided her house. They convinced her to surrender, and Richmond and Christy were released. While Christy was taken to safety, after Richmond was given medical treatment, he was incarcerated along with Stafford and Calder for their collective crimes.

Trivia[]

  • The rape case is inspired by the Steubenville High School rape case, were several students and football players gang-raped a teenage girl while she was unconscious, disseminated footage of it online, and the school and athletic staff engaged in an active cover-up.
