Adenoid Hynkel the titular main antagonist of the film The Great Dictator. Hynkel was the Dictator of Tomania (Based on Germany) and Leader of the Nami Party of the Double Cross.
He was portrayed by the late legendary actor Charlie Chaplin, as a parody of Adolf Hitler, along with the main character "A Jewish Barber" who resembles him.
Biography
After the end of the Great War of Tomania, and sometime after the main character had been placed in a military hospital, the revolution that had broken out had come to an end. The Nami (National Mini-Socialist) party came to power, lead by Adenoid Hynkel. He set up a Dictatorship government, robbed the Jews of nearly all their rights, forcing them to live in ghettos. He made the flag and anthem of Tomania the same as that of the Nami party and re-armed the nation to the point of all society being based around the re-arming. Personality
Hynkel is portrayed as a ruthless, heartless egomaniac who despises all "non-Aryans" and who is obsessed with becoming "the Emperor of the world" (one of the film's most famous scenes portrays him bouncing an inflatable globe until he accidentally bursts it). He is prone to violent mood swings and throws temper tantrums when he does not get his way. He is also devoid of empathy and sees people as objects to be used and discarded; for example, he turns on his "greatest ally", Benzino Napoloni (a parody of Benito Mussolini) the moment the latter becomes an inconvenience.
