I was used to bending mountains, now I demolish them!
~ Adheera

Adheera is a major antagonist of the Sandalwood period epic franchise KGF, being a supporting antagonist in the first film and the main antagonist of the second.

Adheera is the elderly brother of Suryavardhan, the founder of Narachi. He was one of the first field enforcers of Narachi, responsible for enslaving and killing large numbers of the civilians put to work there. He holds a legacy symbolic of fear and evil to the people of Narachi, and is appointed by Guru Pandian (who saved him from Garuda) to overthrow Rocky's rule of the company.

He was portrayed by Sanjay Dutt, who also played Daroga Shuddh Singh in Shamshera and Kaancha Cheena in Agneepath. Dutt received widespread domestic recognition and critical acclaim for the role.

Biography[]

Adheera was the general and field enforcer of Narachi when Suryavardhan first formed it, taking a role then similar to this future nephew Garuda. He is shown to be symbolic of fear and evil as he has brutally tortured and killed several slaves, ruling them like a god. He is largely unseen during the 70s when Garuda leads Narachi in the wake of Suryavardhan's sickness but serves him as a second in command. When Rocky executes Garuda he sees a major opportunity to take Narachi for himself, but this is halted when Garuda sends men to kill him, and he only survives when Guru Pandian, the leader of DYSS saves him.

Many years later, Adheera's sword is discovered by Narachi residents under Rocky's rule when they scavenge a mine, with the miners fleeing and crying at the sight of the sword, recalling what Adheera did to them in the past. Later, it's revealed Adheera was sent under Guru Pandian's order to reclaim Narachi, and so he gathers an army of rnforcers to invade the mines. One of Rocky's warriors, Farmann, sets the bridge on fire and tries to cut it, but Adheera takes the rope and holds it long enough for the army to cross, eventually killing Farmann. He has his men capture Reena, whom they lure from Rocky using her father's murder as bait. Rocky arrives to save her and kills several enforcers, but Adheera shoots him in the shoulder to strike fear into Rocky's people. However, this backfires completely when Rocky makes a deal with crime lord Inaiyat Khalil and gets Soviet ammunition from him, which he arms his army with and uses it to gun down Adheera's men and leave him wounded.

Adheera makes a second attack in retaliation under Pandian's order by infiltrating KGF via the mining tunnels, with his army cutting off all the entrances and lays siege to the industrial part of Rocky's controlled KGF. Adheera shoots Rocky's newlywed wife Reena dead and fights him in a prolonged physical confrontation. Adheera nearly kills Rocky till he recovers a hammer and breaks his sword, eventually killing him by breaking his neck.

Personality[]

Adheera embodies the personality of a power-hungry warlord, enjoying the act of hurting, torturing, and killing innocent people for sport. He is also intelligent, calculating, and a skilled war strategist.

Appearance[]

Adheera has a fascination for viking culture and considers himself to be one. He has grey hair, tattoos on the side of his face, and wears viking attire, including chainmail, furred clothes, and a two-handed claymore.

Powers and Abilities[]

On his own, Adheera is a skilled strategist and sword combatant, in addition to having superhuman strength. He has been capable of supporting the weight of multiple men and vehicles with one arm and effortlessly lifting an iron beam. Adheera has also demonstrated an immunity to being burnt by fire, although how exactly is not known. He also has an army of Narachi enforcers armed with guns, swords, and bazookas to do his bidding.

Trivia[]

  • Adheera may have served as inspiration for Bagheera, a villainous gangster king from the 2023 period epic film Kabzaa. The film is inspired by KGF and Bagheera also wears a viking attire.
