Adio Suerte is the main antagonist of the video game One Piece Odyssey. He introduces himself to the Straw Hats as a friend and helper, but in reality he is the last living descendant of the tribe that once lived on the sky island of Waford and seeks revenge against the world government.
He is voiced by Masaya Matsukaze in the Japanese version.
Personality[]
Although Adio deceived the Straw Hats from the beginning and only revealed his true intentions towards the end, he is not an inherently evil person. Although his actions are strongly driven by his hatred and vindictiveness towards the world government , which took everything from him and has always hunted him, he does not act ruthlessly to achieve his goals. So he shot Lim and also said that he killed her because her powers could be dangerous to him, but in the end he didn't have the heart to do it and, despite his good shooting skills, missed her internal organs, which meant she survived. However, that doesn't mean he isn't willing to make sacrifices and kill people. He sank several naval battleships to the seabed with a laugh and his plan called for many more victims.
Powers and Abilities[]
Adio Suerte is a major threat to the World Government, and undoubtedly not just because of his knowledge of Waford and the Divine Breath. His bounty of over 2 billion berries alone is an expression of his strength. In combat he usually uses two pistols, with which he is very accurate. He also ate the Grab-Grab Fruit, a paramecia-type devil fruit. Through their powers, Adio is able to summon two giant gloves that act as extensions of his own hands and can grasp and manipulate all non-living objects. In weak-willed creatures, Adio can also absorb knowledge and exercise a kind of mind control, such as bats. However, according to his own statement, beings with strong wills can block this. The skills can also be used to create a protective barrier and block attacks and generally increase defense. The devil's powers also gave him the ability to grasp and control the Divine Breath. This made him almost invincible, and even a huge naval fleet that initiated a buster call on Adio and the island of Waford was defenseless against him.
Although he ultimately had to admit defeat to the entire Straw Hat pirate gang and then lost the duel against Straw Hat Monkey D. Luffy, he was almost equal.
History[]
Adio Suerte was born on the Grandline, but as a descendant of the tribe that was once native to Waford. About 200 years ago, he was in a war with the World Government because the World Government wanted to get their hands on the Divine Breath located on Waford. In the wrong hands, however, this machine was too dangerous, which is why the Waford tribe prevented the World Government from gaining its powers. Ultimately, however, Waford lost the war and the former sky island fell into the sea, whereupon all survivors and their descendants were hunted down by the navy. This was also the case throughout his life for Adio, who heard many stories about Waford from his grandfather during his childhood. Nevertheless, Adio and other descendants, including his good friend Pororoka, searched for their home island of Waford. On their expeditions they also encountered Smoker.
However, on one of these expeditions, Pororoka killed all the crew members except Adio. On the other hand, he weakened Adio with a poison. Pororoka has made a deal with the World Government. For his life and freedom, he should murder the remaining descendants of the tribe and hand one over to them alive so that there can be a public execution. However, Adio overheard this conversation and jumped off the ship. Although he was pulled out of the water by a Marine convoy and captured, he managed to escape. Pororoka was executed in his place, which Adio only found out later through the newspaper. This betrayal, but also the actions of the world government, made him realize that the previous world order should be destroyed and an entirely new world should be built.
A little later he actually managed to get to Waford and met Lim there. He built a house near the bay in which he lived with Lim from then on. As a result, he explored the island and tried to obtain the Divine Breath that his grandfather told him about. Two years ago, for example, he examined the lakeside cave and gave it its name. Only later did he realize that the cave was on an inland sea and not on the lakeshore, but he did not change the name. Before the Straw Hats reached Waford, Adio already knew about their shipping route through intercepted naval conversations and decided to use them for his plan. He knew that in order to obtain the Divine Breath, the four Colossi of Waford had to be defeated so that the barrier that protected the Breath would disappear. However, anyone who attacks the colossi becomes an enemy of the island and has no chance of controlling the divine breath. That's why he wanted the Straw Hats to defeat the Colossi for him. So he let Lim in on his plan, but lied to her that he only wanted to turn off the barrier for a short time so that his friends could enter the island. However, he actually wanted to use the Divine Breath to overthrow the World Government. But Lim trusted him and agreed.
When the Straw Hats appeared, Adio's plan began. Lim absorbed the pirates' powers with her abilities and turned them into cubes that flew away in all directions. Adio then appeared and helped the now powerless Straw Hats fight the first Colossus. In order to regain their strength, the Straw Hats now had to defeat all four of Waford's colossi one after the other. So Adio accompanied them to the ruins where the Colossi were and also took part in the fight, but did not attack the Colossi themselves, but only strengthened or healed the Straw Hats. After each defeated colossus, the Straw Hats had to go with Lim to the so-called Memoria, where Adio did not accompany them.
After the fourth Colossus was defeated and the barrier around the Divine Breath disappeared, Adio revealed his true plan. At the now exposed Sky Tower, he seized control of the Divine Breath using his devil powers. Lim and the Straw Hats wanted to stop him and Lim ran forward to the Sky Tower. When the Straw Hats arrived, however, they had to watch as Adio shot Lim. Although he claimed to have killed her, he intentionally missed her internal organs. He then immobilized the pirates and headed to the shore with the Divine Breath to defeat the oncoming navy. With the help of the machine this was no problem as Adio Suerte could now control the weather. Countless battleships fell victim to his unbridled destructiveness and the navy had no chance of stopping him. Only the renewed intervention of the Straw Hats was able to switch off the divine breath for the time being. Luffy then defeated Adio in a duel. However, Luffy still couldn't believe that Adio simply shot Lim, who was said to have been like family to him. Although Adio didn't admit it, it was revealed that Lim was still alive and hoped that Adio would one day live with her on Waford again. In the meantime, Adio had headed back towards the other naval ships with the Divine Breath. It is not known how the renewed encounter ended, but the Five Sages later reported that the Divine Breath was finally destroyed. Later, Lim receives a visit at Waford from someone she is very happy about, implying but not confirming Adio's survival and his return to Lim.
