~ Adolf Hitler when he sees Goten and Trunks as Super Saiyans. |
Adolf Hitler, better known as the Dictator, is the secondary antagonist in the 1995 film Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn. He is the leader of an army of undead soldiers that are invading Earth, similar to how the real Hitler invaded countries in World War II.
He was voiced by Bin Shimada (who also voiced General Blue in Dragon Ball: The Path to Power) in Japanese and Christopher Bevins in English.
Appearance[]
Adolf Hitler's appearance is almost the same as his real-life counterpart, but his military top and commissar hat is purple, and his trousers are beige. The swatiska is also replaced with an X.
Personality[]
Like his real life counterpart, Adolf Hitler is a power-hungry, dominating and evil dictator. He enjoys murdering the town with his army of undead, which resemble the Nazis from World War II. He comments about missing conquest.
Also akin to the real version, he was arrogant and incapable of realising when his strategies were flawed, as he continues to send soldiers and tanks at Goten and Trunks, despite none of the attacks even slowing his young enemies. He is also cowardly, as he never directly engages them himself.
Biography[]
Hitler is first seen with his army of zombies, driving through the town, crushing people's cars and even causing a shootout to it's poor inhabitants. However, he is fought by Goten and Trunks, which he orders his undead army to fire at them, but misses. As he continues to fire at the two kids, they destroy the tank by turning Super Saiyan. The Dictator, surprised by the duo of Super Saiyans, says that he should have recruited them due to their yellow hair, blue eyes and super strength. After the defeat of Janemba by Gogeta, the kids sense that their dads fused, so Goten and Trunks are inspired to fuse together into Gotenks, who then forms an army of Kamikaze Ghosts and unleashes them on the Dictator and his army, killing them all, and since Janemba had been purified out of existence, the previously undead army remained dead.
Trivia[]
- In the Funimation dub of Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn, when he mentions that he should have been recruiting them because of the Super Saiyans' yellow hairs, blue eyes (despite them being actually green - or rather turquoise/teal, which is a green combined with blue, thus the reference still works) and super strength, this references the ideology he and the Nazis wanted to create back in World War II the what they believed superior race of people, the Aryans, while murdering the Jewish population.
- Adolf Hitler's scenes in Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn were removed from the German, French, and Hebrew versions of the film, because of the strict laws about Nazi imagery and also to avoid insulting the victims of the Holocaust and the Israelis. Despite this, the battle with his army is still present in the Polish and European Spanish versions of the movie.
- Adolf Hitler's insignia is an X instead of the familiar swastika, referencing the Charlie Chaplin skit The Great Dictator, where the actor portrays a parodic version of the famous dictator, Adenoid Hynkel.
- Somewhat ironic that his forces were defeated by a Kamikaze Ghost Attack, since it is a reference to Kamikaze pilots in the Japanese Special Attack Unit, which were a part of the Empire of Japan, an ally in the Axis Powers with Nazi Germany.
