Adolf Hitler is the overarching antagonist of the 2008 blockbuster film/documentary film Valkyrie. It goes without saying, but he is based on the real life dictator of the same name.
He was portrayed by David Bamber.
Biography[]
Much like his real life counterpart, Hitler was the chancellor of Germany form 1933 to 1945, and until his death, the head of the Axis Powers during World War II, and the ultimate architect the holocaust which killed over 11 million people, namely 6 million Jews.
Valkyrie[]
Claus Von Stauffenberg, organizes a conspiracy to assassinate Hitler, he goes to several of his colleagues, Including Friedrich Fromm, with the intent of getting their help with the conspiracy, some join in, others such as, Fromm doesn't directly assist but is aware of it and keeps silent about it. Hitler himself appears about halfway through the movie, at his mansion up in the mountains in Bavaria, petting his dog and praising Stauffenberg for his loyalty, (unaware that the latter was already plotting against him) and encourages his subordinates to be just like him. When Stauffenberg and his conspirators plot the attempt and Hitler's life, the former insists that Heinrich Himmler must also be present so they will have more difficulty finding a successor for Hitler, they also ask if Benito Mussolini will be present, to their disappointment, they announce that he isn't, but they will go forward as planned. They arrive at the Wolf's Lair, where Hitler is present, Stauffenberg manages to get a suitcase with a bomb inside it at the meeting, he escapes, and then the bomb explodes, killing at least four people, but not Hitler, who only sustained minor injuries. Stauffenberg then tries to turn the tide in his favor by arresting the SS and desperately insisting that Hitler is dead, however that goes away when Hitler personally announces he is still alive on the phone through Joseph Goebbels to one of his subordinates, and then publicly on the radio, he as the conspirators taken alive so that they can face execution. As such, the conspirators, Including Stauffenberg and even Fromm, (though one committed suicide with a grenade to avoid being found out) are executed.
Defeat and Death[]
Despite, as in real life however, the Axis Powers lost and Hitler committed suicide to avoid capture by the Allied Forces.
