Biography[]
Background[]
Not much is known about Adrian Black's past, but he was born on October 28th, 1914 in the United States, and later married a woman named Margaret. He became the head of the Saval Tool Company, where he befriend the foreman Frank Morgan, whom he spent time with drinking at Cavanagh's Bar. At some point, Adrian's marriage to Margaret turned for the worse, becoming distant to each other and sleeping in separate rooms. While in Seattle on a business trip, Adrian began an affair with his secretary Nicole, but Margaret would learn of this but didn't confront him with the truth. He soon decided to fake his own death to be with her in Seattle, believing that their love was the real thing.
Morgan would help Black in his plan, having Adrian's car be left at a freight depot and had pig blood be splattered all over the sea to make it look like he was brutally killed. Needing a place to hide while his death was faked, Adrian was kept hidden at Morgan's apartment while waiting for money to come so he could leave.
L.A. Noire[]
When Black's abandoned car was found at the freight depot, it was reported to the Los Angeles Police Department, whom Detectives Cole Phelps and Stefan Bekowsky to investigate. Morgan left his slaughterhouse receipt in the back of Black's trunk, which helped Phelps and Bekowsky track down Frank, who revealed Black's plans and his location. When confronted by the two, Black feigned surrendering to them before closing the door on the two. Adrian gave a brief chase before being arrested, admitting that he thought it would be easier to fake his death than just file a divorce to Margaret. Black was charged with fraud, conspiracy and resisting arrest as Morgan was possibly charged as well, but returned to the streets some time later.
As a result of his arrest, Black presumably lost his job at Saval Tool and Nicole dumped him, but Margaret forgave him and took him back. Though he doesn't appear for the rest of the game, he is mentioned by Phelps when he arrests Morgan for attempting to steal a fish truck.
Trivia[]
- The character is based off of Eugene Hamilton White, a tool company businessman who faked his own death and fled to Seattle.
