Aga Ryochi is the overarching antagonist of the Junji Ito story Whispering Woman.
He is the abusive boyfriend of Mitsu who frequently mooched off of her for her hard-earned money so that he can go gambling, relying on violence if Mitsu refuses. He was also a suspect upon her death.
Biography[]
Mayumi a daughter of a wealthy family, has a mental illness where she must be given specific instructions at anytime during the day. Her Father has hired several maids to help Mayumi, but each and every one of them quit because it was to challenging. A women by the name of Mitsu Uchida, Mitsu manages to give Mayumi a instruction and calm her down, after she was crying. One day Mayumi's father finds bruises on Mitsu and ask if she is okay, she says she is fine. After that day Mitsu didn't look well, Mayumi's dad has a employee run a background check on her. Where its revealed she has a abusive boyfriend by the name of Aga. Mayumi's father plots to separate Mitsu from Aga.
Mitsu is found dead one day, with the only culprit to her death being Aga, Mayumi's dad grows worried about Mayumi since she doesn't have a care taker to give her advice, but Mayumi says that Mitsu is still talking to her. Mayumi comes home soaked with blood on her clothes, Mayumi tells her dad that she killed Aga because Mitsu had told her to do so. In a particularly twisted way, Mitsu had finally been freed from the constant torment she suffered when she was still alive, while Mayumi was able to continue to live her life with all the independence Mitsu had managed to instil within her.
