~ Agahnim, upon slaying Link's Uncle. |
Agahnim is the secondary antagonist of the Shotaro Ishinomori comic based on The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Unlike the games, he is a separate entity from Ganon.
Powers and Skills[]
Agahnim, in addition to his sorcery, has shown himself to be a swordsman as well, which is demonstrated by his fight with Link's uncle.
Biography[]
Prior to the events of the story, Agahnim had been kidnapping maidens which prompted Sashsralha to flee to escape the wizard's clutches. When Link is summoned by Zelda calling for help, he rushes to Hyrule Castle where he watches his Uncle losing against Agahnim which culminates in the wizard killing him vowing that anyone who tries to stand up to him will die.
Realizing that Zelda was able to get help via telepathy, Agahnim orders his men to bring Zelda to him so he can sacrifice her as part of his plan to break the seal on the Golden Land placed by the seven wise men to prevent the power of an evil individual and his from coming through its entrance.
Suffice to say, Link manages to fight his way through the castle and dispatch the soldiers who were escorting Zelda to be sacrificed. Although Link did help Zelda escape, Agahnim catches up with them as she does not have a chance to escape him even if they reach the ends of Hyrule.
When Link opposed him, Agahnim zaps him, calling him as foolish as his uncle and proceeds to make Link taste the fear he nver knew. Aftwerwards, Agahnim takes away Zelda to the castle dungeon as Link and the old man watch helplessly as they do not have the Master Sword.
Afterwards, Agahnim proceeds to impersonate the king and place a bounty on Link's head as a scapegoat for the kidnapping of Zelda. After Link manages to get the Pendant of Courage from the old man, Agahnim was furious that his minions failed and while he did try to show mercy to the people of the kingdom, he wanted the people in the bloodline of the knights dead, having been mistaken about Link's uncle being the last of their line.
The wizard then ordered his terrified men to hunt link down and kill him. Once Agahnim casts the spell on Zelda at the full moon, he and Gannon will rule the world.
The next day, the soldiers under Aganhim set the House of Books on fire due to it having the Book of Mudora which was needed to translate the ancient language of Hyrule. But Link manages to brave the inferno and save the librarian.
During the full moon, Agahnim's assistant explains to him that the preparations of the sacrifice are complete and it's time. Just then, Ganon appears by the wizard to explain that the hour to cast the incanation is close and he must not fail to send Zelda to the Dark World before Link's eyes if he manages to make it.
While Link does manage to reech Agahnim via an improvised hot air balloon, it was already too late and Agahnim freezes Link as he casts Zelda into the Dark World. Agahnim proceeds to mock Link over the matter of time left before Ganon's forces conquer the world with the Triforce.
Enraged, Link proceeds to assault Agahnim as he swings the Master Sword. But Sashrala communicates with Link to tell him that he must deflect Agahnim's magic back at him. After Link deflects a red ball of magic back at the wizard, the dying Agahnim mocks him, as his demise will not restore the seal and sends Link to the Dark World. Soon he discovers that Zelda and the other maidens were alive and encased in crystals.
When Link enters Ganon's Castle with Zelda, he finds himself confronted by illusions of Agahnim alongside the Lanmola and the Moldorm. After Link and Roam managed to dispel the illusions, Ganon reveals himself from the Agahnim illusion.
