The story of the enigmatic, manipulative, and pragmatic witch named Agatha Harkness from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Past[]

In 1693, in the Salem Witch trials, Agatha was being dragged through the woods by three witches. She begged to be spared, but was tied up against a wooden post with Magic. A women enquired if she was a Witch to which she replied yes. The lady responded saying she had betrayed her coven and stole knowledge above her place and that she practiced the darkest of magic, which she denied. The Witches tried killing her with beams of Witch power and Harkness pleaded with the Lady, who was her mother. Harkness cried as she was being killed by the Witches. But her power took over and she reversed the effect of the beams onto the Witches, who were all rapidly drained and aged to death in seconds. Harkness broke free of the post and begged for mercy from her mother once more, saying that she could be good. Her mother disagreed and attempted to kill Harkness herself, causing Harkness to reverse her mother’s magic back at her and drain her life in self-defense. She then stole a brooch off her mother’s corpse. At some point in Agatha's past, it is heavily implied that she sacrificed her son, Nicolas in exchange for the Darkhold.

WandaVision[]

Welcoming Wanda Maximoff[]

Hello, dear. I'm Agnes, your neighbor to the right. My right, not yours. Forgive me for not stopping by sooner to welcome you to the block. My mother-in-law was in town, so I wasn't.
~ Agatha to Wanda Maximoff.

Harkness first appears under the guise of clueless housewife Agnes, who greeted Wanda after she and Vision moved to Westview as a happily married couple. Once Maximoff had introduced herself, Agnes noticed how Maximoff had arranged their belongings so quickly, and Maximoff lied to her that she had used a moving service.

Maximoff shared that she was preparing for a special occasion later that day, and instead affirmed Agnes' guess that it was the anniversary of Maximoff and Vision. Agnes' questions about her having no wedding rings and their non-specific anniversary date caught Maximoff off-guard. She offered to help Maximoff plan their special night, while complaining to her about her deadbeat husband Ralph.

Once Wanda realized that her special night was her and Vision treating dinner to Vision's boss Arthur Hart, and his wife Sharon Hart, she called Agnes to help. Agnes happily agreed, and she arrived at the Vision Residence with a large amount of food that she and Wanda could use to cook.

She accidentally dropped a pot, which the Harts and Vision overheard. Maximoff rushed out Agnes, so she could use her abilities to cook, despite Agnes' offer to help cook and to exchange gossip.

Committee Meeting[]

Really, how is anybody doing this sober?
~ Agatha to Wanda.

Agnes had helped Wanda and Vision's magic act for the Westview Talent Show, by lending them her pet rabbit, Señor Scratchy, whom she says previously played Jesus at a Christmas pageant.

Having exchanged some a playful banter with Dennis the Mailman, she accompanied Maximoff to Dottie Jones and her group of fellow housewives for the committee meeting. She warned Maximoff about Jones' influence on the town, and advised her to get on Jones' good side to make her life easier.

She sat beside Wanda during the meeting, and later offered alcohol to Bev, after she was humiliated by Jones. She continued drinking and silently remarks to Maximoff, that she was surprised that anyone could stay sober.

Westview Talent Show[]

Agnes was among the several audience members to attend the Westview Talent Show, and secretly sabotaged Wanda and Vision’s performance to make it look comedic due to Vision's intoxication. Upon seeing Señor Scratchy on stage, Agnes bragged to the other audience members about the rabbit's real star quality.

When the pair brought out the Cabinet of Mysteries, Agnes jokingly offered Ralph to the couple so that he could disappear, which elicited laughs from everybody. With an unintentionally successful show staged by the couple, she was the first to offer a standing ovation among the crowd.

Suspicion about Geraldine[]

Agatha: There's no family. No husband.
Vision: Well, there's nothing wrong with that.
Agatha: Hmm... No home.
~ Agatha and Vision.

Agnes was seen helping Wanda Maximoff buy baby clothes, while they walked through Westview together. Later on, she cast a spell on Herb, in order to make him act like he knew about Westview's secret, in order to make Vision suspicious.

When Vision saw them gossiping and approached the two, he deduced that they were talking about something related to them. When Vision tried to leave, Agnes called him over and asked if Geraldine was with Maximoff. She and Herb explain that Geraldine is new to the town, but seems suspicious since she has no family nor home in Westview.

When Herb tried to explain why Geraldine arrived in town, Agnes stopped him, and instead left the two, saying that she needed to set up her macramé at home.

Babysitter in Need[]

Agatha: Do you want me to take that again?
Wanda: I'm sorry?
Agatha: You want me to hold the babies. Should we just take it from the top?
~ Agatha and Wanda Maximoff.

With Wanda and Vision unable to rest due to their newborn children, Tommy and Billy, Maximoff then suggested they need help. Right on cue, Agnes arrived, offering to help them instead of her scheduled jazz-ercise. Agnes' timing aroused Vision's suspicions, which made him tell her not to help them.

Agnes suddenly shifted in demeanor; she suddenly asked if she should repeat her lines and redo the scene from the beginning. This further confuses Vision, and shocked Maximoff as she realized Agnes was aware of her created reality as a simulated sitcom. Maximoff declared Agnes will help, so Agnes returned to her persona to take care of the twin babies, using an exercise routine to rock their cribs, spraying lavender on them, and finding dark liquor for the twins.

When the babies suddenly aged up to five years old, Agnes was unfazed, instead contemplating about the uncontrollable nature of children.

Creating and Killing Sparky[]

Agnes later returned to the Vision Residence with exactly the item they need, a new doghouse, which Agnes had brought over after seeing that they have a new pet dog. She subsequently named the family's new dog Sparky.

While Agnes was still present, Wanda Maximoff created a dog tag in Agnes' presence, despite her and Vision's agreement to hide their abilities, attributing to her obliviousness when the boys aged up. When the twins aged again to ten years old, Agnes merely quipped that they hoped Sparky stays the same size.

When Sparky ran away from the Maximoffs' home, Agnes killed the dog before they could find him. She wrapped him up in a cloth before the Maximoff's arrived at her home, where she broke the bad news, by claiming that Sparky had died from eating from her azalea bushes, and that she found him too late.

Agnes then overheard Tommy stating Maximoff could fix the dead, and Agnes asked her if she could resurrect the dead. She then stood by, and agreed as Maximoff advised her children that she could not run away from situations like the boys' aging, or reversing death.

Agnes later brought the fake Pietro Maximoff to the Vision Residence door in order to confuse her further.

Awakened by Vision[]

Vision: Agnes, it is my intention to reach those outside of Westview and make sense of our situation.
Agatha: How? No one leaves. Wanda won't even let us think about it. All is lost.
~ Vision and Agatha.

During Halloween night in Westview, Agnes drove to the outskirts of Westview just nearby the barrier of the Westview. Vision discovered Agnes in her car at an intersection furthest from town, pretending to be frozen in a trance. She told him that she took a wrong turn trying to get to the Town Square Scare, to which Vision asked how she got lost in the town she grew up in. Vision decided to use his powers derived from the Mind Stone to take her out of her trance.

Agnes then pretended to be shocked by Vision’s presence, recognizing him as one of the Avengers, and asked if he was here to help. When Vision revealed he didn't know what an Avenger was, she asked if she had died. He assured her that she had not, and asked her why she would think so, to which she replied with telling Vision that he himself was dead, as he was killed during the Battle of Wakanda. She later told him that no one could leave Westview and Wanda would not let anyone think about it. She then proceeded to cackle maniacally before Vision put her back to her previous state. Agnes suddenly acted in-character, and drove back towards the center of the city, much to Vision's confusion.

Agatha All Along[]

Stealing Billy and Tommy[]

Due to Wanda Maximoff wallowing in her depression, Agnes offered to take Tommy and Billy Maximoff away from her so she could relax. She gave them food and drink whilst letting them watch television, assuring them that their mom would be fine, even though she was not sure herself.

Revealing Her True Self[]

Agatha Harkness revealing her true nature

Agatha Harkness revealing her true nature to Wanda.

Later, during a confrontation between Maximoff and Monica Rambeau, Agnes got involved to help Maximoff. She took Maximoff back to her house, and informed her that the kids were in the basement.

Once Maximoff was down in the basement, she discovered Agnes' lair as Agnes finally revealed herself as Agatha Harkness. She enthralled Maximoff, revealing herself to have orchestrated all of the recent oddities, which included controlling Herb, lying to Vision, revealing to have killed Sparky, and sending "Pietro Maximoff" to Wanda.

Learning Information about Wanda[]

After revealing her true nature to her, Wanda attempted to read Agatha's mind, but this proved to be ineffective as Agatha had placed a protection spell around the room with runic symbols, and in turn, bound Wanda in magical bonds. She then demonstrated her magical powers to Wanda, including transformation and mind control, and explains to Wanda that she is capable of performing such magic. She then demanded to know how Wanda created the Hex in the first place, but Wanda was unable to recall how she pulled it off.

Deciding to use a bit more finesse in her interrogation, she plucked a hair from Wanda's head and used it to open a gateway into Wanda's memories. To ensure Wanda would follow her, Agatha revealed she was still holding Tommy and Billy somewhere in her dungeon, and having no other choice, Wanda followed Agatha through the door. The two went through Wanda’s traumatic life experiences, including the death of her parents, the mind stone granting her powers and her falling in love with Vision, as well as her lifelong obsession with sitcoms, having grown up watching them in order to learn English.

They then witnessed Wanda arriving at S.W.O.R.D and seeing Vision's dead body before going to Westview, where Vision had planned for them to start a life together after the Battle of Wakanda. In her grief, Wanda created the Hex as well as reconstructed Vision, seemingly from the Mind Stone. Having seen all she needed to put the pieces together, Agatha applauded Wanda's display of magic before teleporting outside where she held Tommy and Billy with magical nooses around their throats. Agatha then reveals to Wanda that she is a being long thought to be a myth, a being capable of creating something from nothing with the great power of Chaos magic, and that she was, in fact, a Scarlet Witch.

Final Battle[]

What's stopping you? Heroes don't torture people.
~ Agatha mocking Wanda for accidentally strangling Westview citizens upon releasing her power.

As Agatha still choking Billy and Timmy, Wanda warns her that her powers work outside, but she insists that she's counting on it. When Tommy and Billy try to escape from towards their mother, Agatha pulls back the wires attached their throats, causing the twins to fall to the ground as Wanda uses her powers with an energy blast, throwing her back, and releasing her grip on the boys. Wanda orders her sons to go to their room, and they insist on staying with her, until Agatha tells them to listen to their mother, and the pair run away.

An energy blast is thrown at her, but this time, Agatha catches and harnesses it for herself, while also causing Wanda's left hand to rapidly age. She redirects it back at Wanda, blasting her back, as Agatha requests to surrender her magic. She levitates in the air, and adds onto her offer that she'll allow Wanda to keep Westview to herself, however, Wanda throws a car from behind her, crashing Agatha, into a house.

She teleports herself onto the roof, as Vision and White Vision also join in the battle. Agatha comments on how awkward it must be for Wanda with her ex, and current partner, as she flies away, into the town with Wanda following, before disappearing from her line of sight, causing Wanda to begin searching in the middle of town.

Agatha shoots a beam of energy to Wanda from behind, stating to her that she's never battled with another witch before. She informs her that there's an entire chapter devoted her in the Darkhold, and conjures it, to explain the power she holds as the Scarlet Witch, and how she's destined to destroy the world. Wanda disregards this, as Agatha makes a point to her by proving of all the suffering she's already caused, and unearths the true persona of Dottie Jones.

Agatha watches Wanda being overwhelmed by the citizens, and when she promises to free them, Agatha questions what's stopping her, as she has the power, and heroes don't torture people. Wanda unleashes her magic, and begins lowering the barrier, to which Agatha chuckles to, telling Wanda that now she'll see. As the Hex weakens, Vision and her children begin fading, and Agatha elucidates how her family are tied to the Wanda's reality. Wanda restores the Hex, and runs to her family, before Agatha fires at her, and begins absorbing Wanda's magic. During the short period of time when the barrier was lowered, S.W.O.R.D. were able to infiltrate the town. They drive in, and aim their guns at Agatha, but she telekinetically lifts the personnel in the air, and expresses how women such as her and Wanda will always be hunted, and drops them to the ground.

Agatha throws a ball of energy towards Wanda, while heading in her direction, however, Wanda suddenly disappears, much to Agatha’s confusion. She settles on the roof of a building, observing Wanda's family, when the young witch creeps upon her, from behind, and uses her power to induce a nightmare.

As she's bound, a red crown, made up of magical energy, is conjured onto Wanda's head, and Agatha calls for her power, and in return, she will correct the flaws in Wanda's original spell, allowing her to be at peace with her family. Wanda fires a beam of energy knocking back the witches that held her back, and runs into Agnes, removing the two, from the nightmare. The pair tussle in the air, and head into the clouds. Wanda fires at Agatha, telling her she doesn't want her powers, and Agatha continues to provoke her.

The two move in the sky, and Wanda hits Agatha, various times, but also misses, and hits the barrier. With each blast, Agatha's powers strengthen, and she begins absorbing Wanda's magic, leaving Wanda aged, and seemingly defenseless. Agatha discloses that the deal the pair made has been rescinded, as once cast, a spell can never be changed, leaving her world broken as she prepares to fire at her, and pushes her hands forward, however, nothing happens and in her seconds attempt, nothing changes. Wanda's youth is restored before Agatha, and the runes of a protection spell cast by her are revealed in corners of the town, leaving Agatha powerless. Wanda thanks her for the lessons, and states she doesn't need her to tell her who she is.

Agatha screams in agony, as Wanda absorbs all the magic Agatha took from her, transforming into the Scarlet Witch, before her own eyes. Agatha utters that Wanda doesn't know what she's done, and the pair are lowered to ground level. Agatha lies in defeat, and praises Wanda, before questioning what she plans to do with her. Wanda decides that she will be tied to Westview, under the persona of "Agnes", the nosy neighbor. She pleads with her, and labels her fate cruel. She insists Wanda will need her, as she's unaware of what she's unleashed, but Wanda simply replies that if she does, she'll know where to find her. She touches Agatha's temple as the witch transforms into Agnes. She cheerfully greets Wanda as "hon", and makes a comment on her new uniform. Wanda tells her that she lives in Westview, and no one will ever bother her, and the pair part ways.

Agnes Of Westview[]

Wandas dead body

Agnes/Agatha inquires with her colleague Detective Herb about a dead body they found within Westview's Woods.

During the events of Multiverse of Madness, Agatha's Arch-Nemesis, Wanda seemingly perished sacrificing herself to destroy all copies of the Darkhold within the multiverse. Three years later, Agatha, under the persona of "Agnes O'Connor", drives to a crime scene in the forests of Westview. Her colleague, Detective Herb reminds her that she has been subject to disciplinary action after she punched a subject. Agnes remarks that she punched what is now a convicted felon. Detective Herb tells her about the case, saying that she was found face-down by the lake, and they were tipped off by an anonymous call. Agnes and Detective Herb begin to investigate the body, and they both find that the body only had a library book checked out from the Westview library, and a mysterious locket.

Detective Herb says to Agatha that detectives on the scene have discovered the cause of death to be "blunt force trauma." Agatha asks Herb if this was due to a fall. He says no, but was rather crushed by "something really big and heavy." Agnes also asks Detective herb if Jane Doe is dead. Detective Herb replies: "Oh, she's really, most sincerely dead". Agnes responds with a witty remark, winking at Detective Herb and saying "You never know." Before Detective Herb leaves, he asks her to get samples from the body. The theme song of the show, "Witches Road", sung in a darker fashion begins to play, revealing that Agatha has been trapped in a false reality since the events of WandaVision.

Agnes drives to the Westview library to consult the librarian. She shows the librarian the book, and a library checkout card that had been attached to it, with the library card having no dates. The librarian tells Agnes that they do not use checkout cards anymore, and everything is digital now. Agnes then gets aggressive with the librarian, asking her where she was "between the hours of 1:00 and 3:00 AM". The librarian backs down and says that she can run the book title. The librarian then reads out the book title, "Dialogue And Rhetoric: Known History Of Learning & Debate", with the author being "Andrew Ugo". Agnes discovers that the book was not checked out , but rather stolen three years ago. The librarian reassures her, telling her not to worry and that they have plenty of more copies within Natural Sciences.

Agnes checks out the section of the library where the book was stolen from, and finds that every single copy of the book had been burnt to a crisp. Agnes asks a man at the library if everything was destroyed. He whispers in Agnes ear, telling her "every last copy". Agnes, finished for the day, heads home.

The next morning, she converses with the chief, asking him if he heard what happened with the fire at the library. The chief tells her "no", and that he'll have one of the officers follow up with the case. The chief then begins to tell Agnes that soil samples from Jane Doe's fingernails came back from the corners office, and that they do not match the soil she was lying in, originating from Eastern Europe instead (heavily implied to be Wundagore). Now that the case has breached international territory, he introduces her to an FBI agent working on the case, "Agent Vidal".

Agnes then meets Agent Vidal, giving her an extremely sour look and asking her what she is doing here. Agent Vidal tells Agnes that she's just doing her job. Agnes accuses Agent Vidal of "taking over her investigation." Agent Vidal denies the accusation, saying "if you wanna be in control, you can be." The two then begin to discuss the case, mentioning that "it's almost like she just magically appeared." Agnes and Agent Vidal part on bitter terms, with Agnes saying she doesn't want Agent Vidal there.

Agatha Discovers Connection To Darkhold

Agatha discovers what the library book meant in the false reality.

Agnes then drives over to a pawn shop in Westview, attempting to gain answers about the mysterious locket. The pawn shop owner tells her that it's from the late 17th century, and it's made from cowrie (sea snail) shell. They open the locket, and he tells here there are three ladies, nicknamed "Triple Goddess", these being: "Maiden, Mother, Crone." Agnes then leaves the pawn shop and drives to the police station. As she investigates and writes notes about the case, she notices that the book is an acronym for "Darkhold", before the chief rudely interrupts her and asks her to go home.

Agnes then drives home. As Agnes begins to settle in, she hears a knock on the door. It's from Agent Vidal. Agent Vidal remarks to her that "it is a universally acknowledged truth that a lady cop cannot be good at her job and have a healthy personal life at the same time, bringing pizza with her. The two begin to enjoy a bottle of beer as they discuss the case. Agent Vidal tells Agnes that the case is not the reason why she is here, and that there was a car wreck an hour before the time of Jane Doe's death, with a bloodstain in the back seat. Agent Vidal then asks Agnes a question, saying "Do you remember why you hate me?" Agnes does not seem to remember and replies "No". Agent Vidal then asks her if she's hiding evidence. Agnes denies that she is hiding evidence. Agent Vidal says to Agnes that she's only lying to herself.

As the two resume talking, Agnes suddenly hears a series of crashes and bangs upstairs, and she rushes over to investigate. There, she finds a teenager and demands him to freeze. The teenager refuses, and the two begin to engage in an intense chase, with Agnes catching up to the teenager and arresting him. She then drives the teenager to the interrogation room so she can ask questions.

Picture Turns Into Flowers

Agnes discovers that reality is a breaking bridge as the pictures of Jane doe turn into pictures of yellow flowers.

As the two begin the interrogation, Agnes demands to know what compelled him to break into the home of a "decorated detective". The teenager gives a sharp attitude, saying "when you say "decorated, do you mean suspended without pay." Agnes gets angry at the teenager, calling him a "dirtbag". Agnes asks the teenager what he was looking for in her house. The teenager continues to give an attitude, saying "The respect of your peers and a fulfilling home life, but you were fresh out of both." Agnes asks the teenager what he was after. The teenager says "The Road", and Agnes is confused, saying "What road?" The teenager says that she, of all people, should know. Agnes scraps the question and begins to ask a new one, the same one she asked the librarian, "Where were you last night between the hours of 1:00 and 3:00 am?" Once again, the teenager continues the attitude answering with "Asleep, in bed." Enraged at the teenager, she screams at him in anger, showing him photos of Jane Doe's body and demanding to know who she is and what happened to her. The teenager says he doesn't know, and asks what she is talking about. Suddenly, the photos on the table change into flowers, and the teenager points out to Agnes that "they're just pictures of someone's front yard or something!". Agnes notices a painting at the wall and asks the teenager why he keeps looking at it.

The teenager begins to dodge the question, and then begins to chant in Latin. Agnes punishes the teenager, sentencing him to "the night in the tank." She then speeds to the coroners office as fast as she can, seeking further answers. As she arrives there, she sees Agent Vidal, but the body missing. Agnes tells Agent Vidal that she saw Jane Doe's body, and that it was there previously, and that she is not crazy. Agnes mentions details about Jane Does body, saying that she "had a hair color like scarlet, and that she was in her late 20s, green eyes, 5"7. "Agent Vidal, now under the alias of "Rio", says that those are the wrong questions to be asking and that Jane Doe is gone, and all the copies of the Darkhold along with her. Rio then reveals to Agnes that she has been trapped in a distorted spell for over 3 years as a result of this, but she doesn't have to stay there.

There are two Jane Does in this case, and you know her name. So, what's yours?
~ Rio/Agent Vidal encouraging her to break free from the false reality spell placed by Wanda.

Rio then asks Agnes to "claw her way out" and to tear her clothes off. As she tears her clothes off, she goes through several outfit changes, including the outfits shown in WandaVision, until a bright flash of white light surrounds her.

Back To Reality[]

How long have I been living in this cesspool of a town?
You don't remember?
Catch me up.
About three years.
Three years?!?
~ Agatha coming to the realization that she's been trapped in a false reality for three years.

Finally free from the spell, she awakens in Ralph Boehner's house in Westview, confused and angry on what is going on. She then walks outside and sees Herb, asking how long she has been there. Herb is confused on how she doesn't remember, and tells her that she's been stuck there for around three years. Agatha gets angry and blames Wanda for this. Herb quickly shushes her up, saying that they try to not say her name after the terror Wanda has caused throughout Westview. Agatha asks Herb on what she's been doing this whole time, and he says "Agatha's mostly been a good neighbour and a bit too casual with her boundaries." Herb says to her that she hasn't been herself for the past few days, "almost like you got hit by the true crime bug." He mentions that the people of Westview care for Agatha, checking on her to see if she's okay and trying to help out. Agatha tells Herb that she doesn't want to be called "Agnes" anymore, just "Agatha". She then sees the pawn shop owner and as she attempts to ask him questions but he runs away in terror, seeing that she is naked. She then runs back to the house and puts a houserobe on, conversing with Senor Scratchy, her pet rabbit on how she's "been mugged" and that Wanda "took every last bit of power she had and left her with household appliances", remarking that she must get back on top. She then hears muffled screaming and opens her closet, finding the same teenager who attempted to rob her house. She says that the arrest was maybe more than a kidnapping, but makes the conclusion that if he's real and not a figment of his imprisoned mind, then that means Rio must be at the house as well.

Agatha Mercy Convincing

Agatha, at her lowest tries to convince her rival Rio to spare her, now that she is without magic and in the real world.

She opens the door and Rio is there. She tells Rio that she despises her. They argue back and forth, with Rio mocking Agnes, saying "You hid behind all that dark magic and then you lost it. The two begin to battle, with Agatha being knocked into a wall by Rio's magic. As Rio prepares to dish out the finishing blow, Agatha says to Rio that she can't kill her because it's not allowed and that it isn't what Rio wants, her without power, asking Rio if she wants her at her best. Rio warns her that she is not the only one who wants to see her dead, and that she could've just sit back and watched. She giggles, saying to Agatha that she'll be sure to "tell them where to find you." Agatha is confused, and asks Rio on who she is talking about. Rio answers her by saying that The Salem Seven, an infamous and legendary group of witches is going to jump at sundown. Rio laughs and says that it really warms the heart and that after centuries, Agatha Harkness will finally meet her end.

Ugh! It really warms the heart..
You don't have a heart.
Yes, I do. It's black, and it beats for you.
~ Rio gives Agatha a final monologue after warning her that the Salem Seven are going to hunt her down at sundown.

Shortly after saying these words, Rio leaves the house. Agatha then begins to turn her attention to the closet, where it is shown that the teenager is tied up with duct tape and rope, begging Agatha to free him.

Assembling The Coven[]

The road promises that's what missing awaits you at the end. Power is what I'm missing. Sounds like it's what you're missing too.
Nope, too risky, no time.
If you wanna run, fine. But these people who are coming tonight sound serious. You really think you can outrun them with no magic at all?
~ Teen convinces Agatha to assemble a coven of Witches to walk the Witch's Road.

Agatha frees the teenager, now nicknamed "Teen", from the closet. He tells Agatha that he is 16 years old, and that the reason that he broke into her house is because he wanted to convince her to walk the Witches Road. Agatha tries to convince Teen that he is too young for the Witches' Road and that it will kill him as many witches did not make it out alive from the Witch's Road. "Teen", being the fanatic that he is about Agatha, mentions that she was one of the only few people that made it out alive. Agatha argues the only reason that she made it out alive is because she is an exceptional witch. Teen argues that The Salem Seven who are coming to her house tonight are exceptionally formidable opponents and it will be very hard to outrun them, especially considering that she has no magic. Agatha reluctantly agrees, seeing Teen's point for what it is.

Teen and Agatha then begin a "Road Trip" to assemble the coven and watch the Witch's Road by sunset. As they are driving, Teen asks her if she already has a Coven in mind, however Agatha denies having a coven, saying "those harpies are dust." Agatha mentions that they need a coven to access the road, for it is the reason it is called "The Witches' Road". As Teen is an inexperienced magic user, he asks Agatha on how to form a coven. Agatha answers by talking about "The Covenstead Rule", which is "within any three-mile radius, there will be a collection of witchy-enough people to form a coven."

The first stop is Lilia Calderu, a 450 year old with Occultist expertise, who runs her own business selling psychic readings. To test that she is legitimate, the two enter her shop and Agatha gives Teen a fake name of "Beauford", and asks her for a reading under the claim of Beauford's dad passing and that they would like to commune with him today, and that the reason they are visiting today is that they wish to find the "location of some gold bars he may or may not have buried in the backyard". The reading goes normal at first, however as Lilia sees through Agatha's disguise she gives the following quote:

You've been under the influence of another. Someone you hurt. They took your agency. For three years. It's not the first time your witch kin betrayed you. But you survive. In a way, few do. In fact, that's why you're here. And I am not interested.
~ Lilia initially denies Agatha the chance to form a cult.

Lilia is not convinced and immediately turns the idea down, saying "what witch in her right mind would join her coven. Agatha counteracts by claiming that she is not looking for right minded witches, just anybody who can do the job. Lilia says that she didn't read Agatha's fortune, rather her reputation, making a remark on how witches like Agatha "are the reason people think we poison apples, and steal children, and eat babies." Agatha notices Lilia's place, and comments on it saying how she gets one to two visitors a day, and how she noticed the eviction notice on the front door. Agatha persuades Lilia, asking her if she missed the glory days of witching. Lilia does a hard pass, saying that she was chased out of every village she went through for accurately predicting tragedy. Lilia then asks Agatha why she wishes to do the Witches' Road, and Agatha explains that it is a restock of power. Lilia, still hesitant, asks Agatha if she's going to steal her magic, like she did with Wanda. Agatha explains that she cannot steal someone's magic unless you blast her with it. Finally convinced, Lilia reluctantly agrees to meet Agatha at her house at 5.

The next stop on the road trip is Jennifer Kale, a potions expert who runs a probiotic candle business. Agatha and Teen walk in being arrogant and rude, chasing out her customers just as she was about to close in on a sale. Jennifer Kale, knowing Agatha's reputation like the other witches greets Agatha with sarcasm, proclaiming that she hasn't seen her since she tried really hard to never run into her again. Agatha asks her if she would like to join her coven, explaining that she needs a potions expert for the Witches' Road. Like Lilia, Jennifer immediately declines the offer. Agatha asks her to reconsider, and tells Jennifer that she knows that, like her, has a binding spell that has kept her without magic for the last century. The two get into an argument and start shouting insults at each other. Jennifer lectures Agatha on how Agatha lost her power, and killed witches to obtain it. Jennifer then asks who Teen is, calling him "another child sacrifice." Despite this, Agatha expresses sympathy for Jennifer, apologizing the legal troubles she has had so far about her products. However, this sympathy is immediately extinguishable as Agatha then proceeds to mock Jennifer again about her products causing chemical burns. Jennifer says to Agatha that she has not been convicted yet, but Agatha mentions that witches as a group don't do well in prison. Finally, Agatha persuades Jennifer, saying that each count is 5 years and if she has 800 counts, she will be going to prison for several lifetimes. Jennifer considers that she could be legally bound and magically bound, possibly living a miserable life for the rest of her days if she does not join the coven. Jennifer is the next member of the coven, agreeing to meet Agatha at her house at 5 to conjure the Witches' Road.

Agatha and Teen stop for lunch at the Westview Mall before heading to their next destination. Agatha explains to Teen that the third person they are seeking is a "Blood Witch", which means "A child of a witch". In that case, the person they are looking for is the daughter of a famous witch and Rockstar, Lorna Wu, who headlined "The Coral Shore". Teen mentions that his mom went to see her last tour right before she died, and tried to get an LP of a signed edition of her album but failed. The two then proceeded to move onto their next destination, who is Alice Wu Gulliver. Agatha and Teen enter into the Hot Topic store she is working at. They introduce themselves, but Teen shoplifts. Agatha then accuses Alice of assaulting Teen, and Alice says she saw them lift something to her boss. However, Alice's boss mentions that she's been nothing but bad luck and fires her as a result of the False Shoplifting accusation. Seeing Alice at her lowest point like herself, Agatha follows Alice on her walk. Like the others, Alice initially denies the offer, saying that people like Agatha are dangerous. Alice speaks to Agatha, saying that the road is a myth. Agatha counteracts, by saying that the road is real and that she has been on it before. Agatha persuades Alice by explaining to her that the Road might offer some answers on what happened to her mom. Alice still says no, and Agatha and Teen walk away from the mall, however Alice changes her mind making her the third member of the coven.

Arriving home with Teen, he sets the decorations and invites Jen, Alice, and Lilia to her home. Agatha however, is still missing a fourth witch to join her on the Witches' Road - A Green Witch, someone who is proficient at Earth-related magic. Teen asks if the Green Witch is needed and Agatha confirms that the ballad says that one of the requirements is somebody who is proficient at earth magic. To check if Agatha is right, Teen looks at the invitation list and sees a black heart. Knowing that Rio Vidal was heavily implied to be this green witch, Agatha deliberately avoided her and instead recruited Sharon Davis, a holistic neighbor across the street who had no magical powers/expertise, but excellent gardening skills. Agatha also argued to teen that the only reason why he thinks that Rio Vidal might be the green witch is because they used a black pen when writing out the invitation list.

With the coven finally assembled, the four begin to sing "The Witches' Road", a magical song which opens up the portal to The Witches Road. However, things get tense as Rio shows up at Agatha's door, along with the rest of the Salem Seven. As Teen makes sure everything is set to walk the witches road, he spots Rio and The Salem Seven and quickly runs down the stairs to warn Agatha and the other Witches. Unfortunately, Teen's magical power is not enough and they blast down several doors in Agatha's house. This leads to an argument between the four, proclaiming that the only reason Agatha brought them there was to be used as pawns for her to open the portal. Seeing as the five of them are in danger, Agatha demands that one of them blast her with their magic so that way she can finish up the spell. The witches agree, and Agatha uses the borrowed magic to conjure the door to the Witches' Road, which is a hollowed out tree trunk. The four walk down the entrance and end up in the Witches' Road, where they set off on their adventure.

The Witches' Road - First Trial[]

Anyone can be a witch in training.
Which puts us even more in danger and we don't even know what we're up against!
~ Jen scolds Agatha for bringing Sharon Davis along on the Witches' Road because she has no formal magical expertise/experience.

As the group begin to walk the road, Teen begins to note to Agatha that this is exactly how he imagined it. The coven discusses on how they thought the witches road was not real. Sharon begins to complain, saying that what they are doing is a kidnapping, and she should "involve the authorities." Jennifer questions Agatha asking why the Salem Seven chased them down the witches road. Lilia mentions that whatever chased them down there is their problem now, and teen mentions that "A Coven shares burdens and blessings alike." Teen also mentions that the Witches Road is stuck in a state of perpetual night.

Lilia mentions the first trial being to "tame someone's fears", in other words their worst nightmares. Alice mentions that they will encounter their worst fears in the form of trials as the witches road ballad says. Agatha mentions to the coven that the road will test them on the knowledge of each of their specialties, with one trial for each skill. Jen is confused and asks the coven how they are going to pass them especially when Jen and Agatha alike both have no power. Teen mentions that a possible solution could be in the form of "labor intensive, manual acts of magic", "witchcraft" with an emphasis on the "craft" portion. As Teen begins to introduce himself to Jen, the glyph appears again and he is forbidden from speaking his name. Lilia mentions that someone has put a sigil on him. Teen is confused on what a sigil on it. The coven explain to Teen that a sigil is a "redaction spell that hides something." Jen teases that Teen is a "Sparkly Little Mystery".

A sigil is a redaction spell that hides something. In this case, you from witch folk.
~ Jen explains to Teen what a sigil is.
Mysterious beach house

The mysterious beach house where the first trial takes place.

Agatha asks that the coven focus on the road and stop the conversation. As Agatha mentions what each of their goals are, Sharon goes missing. The coven go out in search for her. The camera then pans to Sharon's perspective, as she stops and catches a breath, the ground begins to sink beneath her, taking her purse along with it. As Sharon begins to reach for her purse, she is sucked into the ground. The Coven rush to save her from the sinking mud. Alice scolds Sharon for straying away from the road. Agatha begins to establish rules for the coven to keep them safe. The first rule is that they should not step off the road. Agatha advises her coven to follow the instructions of the ballad so that way they can keep themselves safe. Sharon gets angry at Agatha, complaining about how she is supposed to keep walking and walking when there is nowhere to walk to. Jen, seeing an opportunity, notices a bright light in front of them. The group begins to turn and they notice a house with footprints and sandy beaches behind it.

The coven travels to the beach house. Lilia notices a strange emblem implemented on the door. Teen mentions that each one of the circles embedded on the door corresponds with the phases of the moon. The corresponding symbol that they are searching for is "full", also known as "the water phase." Sharon then rings the doorbell, and Agatha opens the door, with the coven walking inside. Alice, feeling suspicious is the last to walk in, with Sharon following behind her.

Jen says that the house is not exactly the stuff of nightmares, and Agatha speaks to her saying that the road is adaptive and changes for the coven. Suddenly, the group notices that they now have new outfits. As the coven begins to explore the house, Alice mentions that none of the windows or doors open. In the house's fireplace, Teen notices a letter and invites the group to investigate:

The Witches road cordially invites you to the first trial. Please see reverse side of card. (on reverse side of card): My age has value. I'm no fun alone. I mess with your mind. My tricks are well-known.
~ What is written on the fancy letter above the fireplace.
Agatha First Trial Wine Puzzle

The coven discovers the wine as part of the trial and reluctantly agree to drink it.

The coven begins to investigate the conundrum, with each making clues and theories as to what the answer could be. Sharon notices a bottle of wine on the table and begins to pour it for herself. Alice stops Sharon, advising against drinking it as she does not know the side effects of what could happen. Agatha leads her team, advising to drink the wine even though she speculates that something terrible will happen if they drink it.

Jen notices Teens overtly-friendly demeanor and advises him to "watch his back" with Agatha. Teen responds by saying he knows how people feel about her.

Jen: Watch your back with Agatha.

Teen: I know how people feel about her.
Jen: Did you know she traded her own child for the Book of the Damned?

~ Jen reveals a shocking revelation to Teen.

Shocked by this statement, Teen denies what Jen is saying. Jen retracts her statement by saying he's probably right, and then continues on with the conversation. She mentions that it is a rumor that no one knows what happened to Agatha's son, with the general consensus that he is dead, or possibly an agent of Mephisto. Jen insults Agatha behind her back, saying that it's what happens when you have her as your mom, and doubts whether she'd recognize her own son if he showed up at her doorstep. Teen gives a disgusted look as Jen is speaking. Jen finishes the conversation and walks away.

As Agatha begins to pour the wine, Sharon begins to take the first glass and chugs it all in one go. The other members of the coven give a weird look at her. Suddenly, a timer is shown on the desk for thirty minutes, and it begins to count down. Sharon pours herself another glass of wine, and the coven scatters around the house. Agatha pours her glass of wine on one of the planets in the house. Elsewhere around the house, Teen compliments Alice's tattoo on her arm, asking where she got it from. Teen tells Alice that she knows that it is a ward meant to fight off curses. Alice answers Teen, telling him that her mother made her get the tattoo because she said that "all the women in her family was cursed", and that she was thirteen when she got the tattoo. As the two resume talking, the camera pans to the wine glass filling up by itself. Teen emphasizes with Alice, saying that a lot happened to him when he was thirteen too. The two begin to grow a liking to each other with Alice complimenting Teen's hair and eyeliner.

Ok, so a witch is just another name for a bad girl - is that right?

That is extremely reductive. We are not a monolith. And you know, I blame Halloween! Do you see any pointy hats in here? Any green skin? Any brooms? No, sir.
Well I'm not saying that I wanna join the club or anything, but I would drink the blood of a virgin if it would smooth out some of these wrinkles.

~ Sharon Davis begins to ask the wrong questions to the coven, and begins to reveal a hint about what the answer could be.
Something is very wrong

Alice along with the rest of the coven realizes that the wine is poisonous and they have 30 minutes to brew up the antidote.

Sharon begins to ask the wrong questions to the coven, and in her conversation with them, accidentally reveals a hint to what the answer could be. Suddenly, Sharon's face begins to puff up as if it was injected with botox and the Coven is shocked by her appearance. The Coven is concerned for her and asks if she is okay, noting that her face is "a little swollen". Jen shouts out that they've been poisoned by the wine and the coven begins to panic, looking at their faces in the mirror. Sharon begins to drink another wine glass, but Teen quickly stops her reminding Sharon that the glass of wine is poisoned. Agatha proposes a solution in that Sharon could possibly drink the entire glass of wine so that way they can identify the poison. The coven reluctantly agrees.

Jen asks if Sharon feels a tingling in the back of the throat. Sharon says no. Jen then asks if Sharon begins to taste mulberries. Sharon is confused at Jen, saying that she does not know the taste of mulberries. Jen tries to close in on the answer, asking her if she hears any ringing or the sound of fairies crying. As Jen continues to interrogate Sharon, her face suddenly goes back to normal. Finally, Jen figures out the answer as to what type of poison it could be - "Alewife's Revenge", noting that face swelling is just the beginning. The next symptoms are dizziness, delirium, and loss of motor function in addition to the heart racing, inevitably leading up to death.

Agatha instinctively tries to break the windows, proclaiming that she has to get out of there. Jen scolds Agatha, telling her she "can't run from the poison." Teen finds the filled glass on the counter, telling the coven that Agatha did not drink the poison, and shames Agatha for "cheating". Agatha gets angry at Teen, asking him who says that - Teen replies with "The Road". Agatha tells the Coven that not everybody has to suffer, as Teen did not drink the wine - but the only reason why he didn't drink the wine is because he is not in the Coven, and he is also underage. Agatha cannot take it anymore, and so she throws the wine glass to the ground, shattering it. The coven demands that she drink the wine, but she says that she would but there's no more wine.

Alice shows Agatha that the glass fills on its own and that she must drink the wine. Teen decides to make the sacrifice to drink the wine, however Agatha stops her. In a moment of selflessness, she drinks the wine. Sharon begins to show a relaxed demeanor, asking Agatha to let Teen breathe before passing out. Jen tends to Sharon making sure she is okay. Agatha tells Jen to quickly brew an antidote while the poison works through her. Jen agrees to brew.

Making a plan, Jen says that in order to brew an antidote she needs frankincense and the guts of an eusocial insect, and a corpse that's been decaying for at least 30 million years. Alice and Wu set out to find the first ingredient, while Agatha is confused at what Jen is talking about. Jen answers that the third ingredient that they are looking for is zooplankton and that it can commonly be found in petroleum products. Lilia sets out to find the second ingredient along with Agatha. Jen notices the sink in the kitchen and notes to herself that it could be used as a cauldron for brewing the antidote.

As Agatha and Lilia begin to set out for the second ingredient, they search the garage but find that it has no car, as well as no gas. Agatha thinks that they need to find Petroleum Jelly, so they scour other areas of the house. They manage to find Jen's robotic skincare in the master bathroom, but Agatha mentions that it is organic so that must mean there is no petroleum in there. Agatha asks that they dump all of Jen's skincare products into the mix, and Lilia agrees.

Death comes for her

Lilia is haunted by a mysterious green woman behind the hallucination of the nun.

The camera then focuses in on Alice and Teen trying to find the first ingredient. Teen manages to find some "essential oils", but Alice suddenly feels herself losing balance and suddenly begins to have hallucinations. She enters into a door full of steam. Jen finds some mustard seed for the antidote, and when she walks in she suddenly sees an unknown man standing in a menacing pose near the counterpart. As Lilia works her way back to the kitchen, her hallucinations manifest in the form of a girl with a pink dress who begins to walk left into another room. As Alice walks through the steamy door, she sees a person who she thinks might be her mother. The mysterious man, wearing a butcher's outfit, begins to walk towards Jen, telling her that she is an "inconvenient woman."

Lilia then quickly follows the girl, and finds herself in a room full of spiderwebs and tree branches. Alice's mother then begins to light a lighter, and shows a sad expression on her face. Alice's mother tells her daughter that her grandmother died today, thousands of miles away and she could still feel it when it happened, and that it's her turn to die. The girl turns into a pale-skinned nun in front of Lilia, and she gets scared and freaks out. The butcher then begins to drown Jen in her own potions. Alice mother screams that she cannot protect her, and Alice quickly runs away from her.

Jen manages to break free from the hallucination and stops herself from drowning. Terrified, Lilia begins to shout in Sicilian "She's dead! They're all dead!" at Agatha. Teen, immune to the hallucinations finds the frankincense and guides Alice back to the kitchen. The coven then regroups to assemble the potion. Teen mentions that the "eusocial insect" is just another gross term for "honey" as the ingredient. Lilia and Agatha return with their ingredients in hand.

Suddenly, the window glass begins to crack revealing an eerie, green night underneath. Agatha peers quickly into the window to investigate and discovers that the window is leaking with water. The group begins to carry Sharon's unconscious body into the kitchen. A shot of the timer appears, and there is 3 minutes and 13 seconds until they are out of time. Jen mentions that the ingredients added need to be in a certain order, at a certain time, starting with guts and eye. The next ingredient is the zooplankton, which the group adds to the mix. Lilia begins to feel dizzy and exhibits signs of the poison working through its late stages. The group adds three drops of the next ingredient. The mix begins to glow a bright pink, however the coven has a problem on their hands: they need to boil the mixture in order for it to work. Jen asks for some ideas from the Coven, and Teen proposes a solution with a "sous-vide", that being a 'super fancy cooking tool", heating water to a specific temperature so meat can be cooked evenly. Jen orders Teen to stir the mix counter clockwise, to which he agrees. Jen then asks the coven to take out a single hair out of each of their heads so it can be added to the mix.

Agatha begins to hear coos of a baby, and begins to exhibit signs of shell shock, walking away from the situation and instead tending to the hallucination of the baby. As she opens the covers on the carriage, it instead is the Darkhold, sending Agatha into a state of agony as she begins to panic on the floor. Jen snaps Agatha out of the hallucination, and Teen asks what Agatha saw. Agatha brushes it off, saying that she saw nothing. Jen demands that Agatha remove a strand of hair from her head, and she reluctantly agrees. Teen then stops stirring the mix as per Jen's instructions.

Antidote Ready Agatha All Along

The antidote seems ready for the Coven to use.

The group needs to clasp hands and clear their minds, and once their intentions are aligned the mix will begin to glow "bright cerulean". As everybody's intentions are aligned, the mix glows bright cerulean. Alice asks if cerulean is supposed to be green, and Jen answers no, noticing something is wrong with the mix. Jen says to the coven that she must have forgot something, and notices that there is only one minute on the timer to their inevitable demise. Agatha asks Jen what she forgot in the mix, and Jen mentions that they've never made this potion before, instead she only makes retention serums.

There was a time when I would be able to just solve this with a wave of my hand, but now? I'm bound! He stole my magic! We're all gonna die here!
No. I'm not gonna die here. This is not how I die!

Agatha begins to hold onto Jen, consoling her.
I have always hated you.
If this is a pep talk...
But I left you alone, because what you were doing was important. Not this Kale Kare crap, the real work. You can be that witch again. They can take your power, Jen, but they can't take your knowledge.
Jen!
Blood.

~ Agatha motivates Jen to finish the antidote, allowing her to find the final missing ingredient to the antidote.

Agatha motivates Jen to complete the antidote. Jen realizes that she needs "the blood of the un-poisoned" to finish the antidote - implying Teens blood is to be used. Agatha slashes Teens hand, allowing the blood to fall into the mix, completing the antidote. They drink the antidote, and make a sigh of relief - However, the problem isn't over yet. They still have to cure Sharon. They realize that there is only 10 seconds until they run out of time, and quickly tend to Mrs Hart. The oven is open and they begin to investigate.

Diva Down Agatha All Along

Unfortunately, Sharon did not pass the first Trial due to the coven forgetting her hair as part of the antidode. And so, it cost her life.

The house begins to flood and they quickly run into the oven, sliding down out of a tree into the next part of the witch's road. The group is back to their regular outfits again, albeit cold, wet, and soggy.

As Jen remarks that everybody made it out alive, Teen shouts to Agatha that Sharon unfortunately did not make it through the tests and passed away. The camera pans to Sharon's dead body and the group stand over her. Agatha is confused, asking who Sharon is. The surviving coven looks at her, dumbfounded, and proceed to the next part of the witches' road.

The Witches' Road - Second Trial[]

My mom did die on the road...

We don't know that for sure. She could still be out there.
She died on tour. Hotel fire.
So, if you're not trying to find her out here, why did you come with us?
She said the road would save me.
From.. what?

~ Alice reveals to the coven that the initial reason she took the road was not to find out answers on what happened to her mother, but rather that her mother asked her to take the road because "it would save her."

Agatha then proceeds to look at Sharon's body, commenting on Sharon's bravery and saying "I didn't think you had it in you", sighing and shaking her head. Teen asks who had what in them, and Agatha responds with a wink. Alice looks at Sharon's body, devastated. Jen proceeds to comment that everybody is acting very quiet. Lilia asks Jen to be respectful, noting to her that Alice's mom perished on the road as well. Agatha shrugs it off, and asks the group to join her along for the second trial of the witch's road. Agatha asks the coven what the problem is. The coven berates her for her actions, telling her that Sharon is dead because of them and that Alice and Teen are digging a grave for her. Agatha proceeds to skip along on the road.

Sharon was a bad draft pick. Of course, The Road Killed her. More Power for the rest of us!

Setting aside your staggering callousness, we still have the issue of our incomplete coven!
Oh, okay yes. Ok, now I know the confusion. We needed the whole gang to access the road. But after that, it's anybody's game!
It's like the ballad says, "burn in brew, with coven two, and glory shall be thine. Agatha proceeds to laugh.
The ballad clearly says, "With coven true, glory shall be thine."
Does it? It's "Coven Two."
That doesn't make any sense.

~ Agatha argues with the Coven about the missing member that they require in order to complete the road.

Agatha then comments to the others that they need to summon a "Green Witch", now that Sharon has died. The coven proceed to argue about how the Witches' road goes, until Teen mediates the coven and they proceed to conjure a spell. Agatha asks Teen if he has a spellbook, in this case they do. Standing over a portion of the Road, the three begin to read out their affirmations for what they want the Green Witch to be, before completing the spell. Suddenly, a rotted hand spikes out of the ground scaring the group. It turns out to be Rio Vidal, Agatha's rival from Episode 1. She greets herself and introduces herself as "Maria", and the group remain on friendly terms with her, although Agatha attempts to pick a fight with her when she sees her. Once they introduce themselves, they proceed to the next part of the witch's road.

Alice, upon seeing the wooden house initially tries to run away, but she ends up bumping into the same house again. Agatha comments that although they can run away from it, once they go to the Witches' road they must endure the trials and they cannot back out of it. The coven proceed to enter the house, which shows the "waxing" phase of the moon on the door, with Teen commenting that it is the "fire" phase. Alice takes a deep breath before entering along with the coven.

Agatha Episode 2 Cabin

The cabin where the second part of the Witches' Road trial takes place.

Once again, due to the reality-warping nature of the road, the coven now have outfits that are themed as if they are in the 70s, with Agatha taking on an appearance similar to a hippie. Alice, now in a full blown panic demands that the group do not eat, drink, or touch anything in the house, with her heartbeat racing and her heart beating heavily. Rio looks towards her, commenting that it feels like the house has a story inside of it. Teen mentions that like the first house, the second one should have a mantle with an invitation. The group begins to search the house for the invitation. As Rio steps closer to Agatha, Agatha objects and pushes Rio out of the way.

Lilia Strange Paintings

Lilia notices the paintings in the house dictating the suffering that witches have gone through in order to protect their existence.

The coven then enters a room with various hanging decorations within it. Lilia notices various paintings showing the trials, including a picture of a witch boiling with her arms in a wooden restraint in a cauldron, a witch being tied to a fire, and a witch being restrained in presumably an electric/execution chair. Lilia begins to show tears in her eyes, and has sudden flashbacks to when she was persecuted, hearing screaming and agony in the background. Jen begins to notice the other decorations in the room, including a Hannya and Oni mask with blonde hair. Suddenly, the mask reveals to have eyes shortly before the eyes dissipate into shadow. The camera then begins to pan as Alice looks at a photo of her mother hanging on the wall with sad eyes, as Lilia accompanies her to investigate the picture.

She was trying to open the road, wasn't she? With her concerts.

Her fans were her coven. Two years after this tour, she had to sell the catalogue to keep our house.
Which is it? Am I wispy, or am I kooky?

~ Alice and Lilia discover that her mother was trying to open the witches road with her fans being the coven.

Lilia begs Alice to not do something which is unclear. Alice asks, "don't what?" Lilia begins to lose her memory, asking her to pardon. This implies that this trial is likely about curse expulsion, with the curse in place being the soul of her mother who perished on the road. Agatha, having explored the house, begins to get comfortable on a chair in a room that is a production studio. Rio begins to join her in the room, asking her how the quest for power is going. Agatha says it's good, and tells Rio that the coven are her new best friends.

I'm feeling impatient. I'm feeling like I wanna cause some damage.

You're too early!
It wasn't up to me. Magick, as it does, took the path of least resistance, ferrid the closest, most appropriate candidate down. Or up.

~ Rio and Agatha continue the tension with each other.

Rio them demands Agatha to answer the question on why she brought Teen. Agatha answers with "many hands". Agatha quickly gets up and comments how the road is like Switzerland and tries to reason with Rio once more, asking to "call it a truce." Rio then activates the PA system in the production booth, saying this:

I get the pleasure of watching you do what you do best.

Which is..?
Kill all the witches around you. One by one.
Then what?
You get your power.. and I get my bodies.
Hey! That's my coven you're talking about! I'm not that kind of witch anymore.

~ Rio hints at her and Agatha's deceptive nature to the Coven.

Confused, the coven walks up to Agatha and Rio, asking her what she is talking about. Suddenly, a distorted, loud noise begins to play over the speaker. Teen gets frightened at this loud noise and demands to know what the sound is, saying he thought it was a clue. He then holds up a paper sleeve to his face. The label reads: "Play Me". Agatha begins to notice that the record is spinning backwards. The record begins to cause delirium and pain within the coven, and they all scream, demanding Agatha to stop and turn it off. Agatha throws the vinyl player on the ground, destroying it and stopping the distorted song. Lilia begins to shout that they've been cursed. Suddenly, a metronome begins to tick. Rio says that she thinks it means that the trial has started.

Lilia Suffers The Curse

As Alice says she feels lighter, the curse passes onto the rest of her Coven instead, causing them to feel the effects instead of Alice.

Alice says to the coven that she feels lighter. Suddenly, Lilia's clothes begins to burn and she screams in horror, curling up on the ground and panicking. Teen wonders who is causing Lilia to burn, and how to stop it. Jen quickly shouts at Alice to protect her, and she instinctively borrow's Rio's knife, etching a circle into the ground where Lilia is standing, reciting a expulsion spell. The curse leaves Lilia's body. Jen is shocked, and remarks to the Coven that she needs Alice to draw one of those "circles" around her as soon as possible. Teen is unsure of how to handle the curse and lists several methods they could possibly use in order to get rid of it including "smudge sticks", a "salt bath", but the most notable example being locating and reasoning with the witch who cast the curse. However, Agatha tells Teen that these methods will not work, as once vengeance is cast or the curse is cast you cannot "reel it back in."

Teen: So... uh.. breaking a curse. Smudge sticks? A salt bath? What if we locate and reason with the witch who cast the curse?

Agatha: Once Vengeance is loosed, you can't reel it back in.
Teen: So what do we do?
Lilia: The only way to end a curse is to face it.

~ Lilia explains to Teen on how to end a curse.

Suddenly, Jen begins to erupt in flames in the same manner as Lilia. The coven immediately attends to Jen, watching over her as she receives horrific burns and falls to her knees on the floor. Alice takes swift action, borrowing Rio's knife once more to draw the same circle as well as cast the same expulsion spell. The curse is expelled from Jen and she huffs and puffs as it begins to subside. Noticing Jen's shoulders, Teen tells the group that Jen has a strange scar on her now. Lilia asks if she has one too, to which it is revealed that the second/third degree burns all appear within the same place. Alice, now panicked, looks towards herself. Rumbling is heard within the distance, asking if anybody hears it. Rio notes that the noise is the curse seeking its next victim. Violent wind begins to blow, and the coven also hears a demonic growling. Alice scrambles to piece together the broken record realizing it is the solution to ending the curse. Lilia asks what the broken record is if it were to be played properly. Alice reads the broken label, which displays:

Lorna Wu & The Coral Shore

The Ballad Of The Witches' Road
1: Mary Mary 4:41
2: Red Haired Woman 4:12
3: Cinnamon & Sage 4:11
4: Flick Of The Wrist (unintelligible)
5: Swans Song 3:51

~ Transcription of what the Record's Side A Label reads.

Agatha quickly runs to Alice, but it is not to help, but rather to place the blame, shaming Alice for bringing the curse along with her to the Witches' Road. Teen tries to be Agatha's voice of reasoning telling her to leave Alice alone. Alice denies that she brought the curse, saying that she did not think it was real. With tears in her eyes, Alice shows the scar to the Coven. Lilia expresses sympathy and pity for Alice, calling her a "poor thing". Jen asks if they are talking about a generational curse. Jen scolds Alice on how the entire Coven now has her family's "old A** curse". Alice apologies for the trouble that she has put the coven through. Suddenly, the curse, now taken physical form lunges at the coven, knocking Teen back through the glass several feet.

Agatha quickly runs to Teen, with Jen removing the glass from him. Agatha begins to show an expression of worry on her face. Teen explains that he was attacked by the curse, and asks Jen and Agatha if he is part of the coven since all coven members share blessings and burdens alike. Lilia joins in to comment that there is not a lot of blessings within the group. Jen asks if Teen is okay, while remaining her distance in the circle to avoid the curse. Agatha teases Jen, asking her if she "lives in the circle now".

Alice helps Teen get back up and the Coven come up with a plan as to how they can overcome the trial. Agatha has a moment of clarity and says to Alice that she's right, that what she is proposing is the solution. Teen asks what the solution is, and Agatha responds by saying that the Trial is asking all the members of the coven to play Lorna Wu's version of the ballad.

Alice gets agitated and refuses to play the song. Agatha counters her by raising her hands up and pointing at the room, showing Alice that it is a music production studio. Alice, still dumbfounded asks what good will playing Lorna's version of the ballad do - saying that the original version of the ballad opened the road and that they're "all here". Teen makes a point in that Lorna's version is played differently, with different lyrics. Agatha begins to think and make theories as to what Lorna wanted from the road, what her intention was. Rio comes up with the theory that the whole reason that Lorna took the road in the first place was to save her daughter, Alice.

Agatha: You should've burnt to a crisp years ago but here you are. Sullen and aimless, but alive. That's because at any given moment, somewhere, someone is playing the song that you hate so much. Lorna's Ballad is a protection spell. It protected you.

Lilia: And maybe now it can protect us.

~ Agatha gives Alice a talk about the plan to succeed within the trial.
The Band Begins Agatha

Agatha and the Coven begin to perform Lorna Wu's version of the Witch's Road.

Agatha gives Alice a pep talk explaining the solution. As Agatha finishes her pep talk, a shrieking noise is heard from the curse/demon and the Coven gets spooked. The group quickly decides who's playing what, as Agatha is the lead vocalist, Lilia playing an assortment of random instruments, Teen playing guitar, Jen on bass, Rio on drums, and finally Alice playing Piano as well as providing secondary vocals. Agatha asks Alice to "play it right, play it well", with the hope that they won't die from the curse.

As the band begins to play, the tape recorder starts, with the metronome ticking in the background. The curse attacks Agatha and burns her, knocking her down. Agatha tells Alice to keep playing. Agatha begins to sing the road, and gets up. The protection curse seems to be working to protect the Coven.

As Agatha prepares the chorus, a fire erupts from behind them, and the curse begins grow and hiss. Lilia shouts, "Oh great! Fire!", with Rio commenting that the curse is now growing angry. Agatha scolds Alice, yelling at her to "stop holding it in and to play like a witch."

Stage Begins To Erupt On Fire

The stage begins to erupt on fire as they prepare the second verse.

The group continues playing, and Jen and Teen look at each other while trying their best to play with the Coven. During this time, the lyrics mention that Lorna Wu has known the power of "midnights in the wood", danced "inside the circle of all that's bad and good", and that the dangers "are great", the trials "wait", for those who seek the prize. It also asks the listener to "tame their fears", for "a door appears to love that never dies". Teen notices that the glass is shattering within the studio, cutting him a bit. He reluctantly continues playing as screeches are heard across the production studio and the fire gets worse. Lilia switches to Triangle.

Alice Curse Gets Killed Agatha All Along

Alice, with the power of music (and her mother's protection spell) finally kills her family's generational curse with the help of the coven.

It is now the part of the bridge, and Alice begins to silently shed tears as the camera splits in two to show a portrait of Lorna. Meanwhile, Lilia switches to Maracas. As they begin to play the final chorus of the song, Alice gasps as the Curse begins to take flesh in the physical form of a horrific demon, which the camera pans to. Alice shouts that she can now see the curse as it begins to take flight and lunge towards her. With her being able to see the curse, she is able to kill it and plays the piano as hard as she can. The perch that the curse/demon is sitting on begins to erupt in flames. The demon attempts to perch on her shoulders, but she sings harder and harder. The coven is shocked at what they see. Alice, raising her arms in victory, shouts "I'll see you at the end!", finally killing the curse and freeing her and her coven from it forevermore. The metronome stops ticking, marking the end of the second trial. Agatha sighs, breathing heavily in relief. Jen asks if they killed it, and Alice nods her head.

The piano opens up to reveal the exit and in turn, the third part of the Witches' road. Alice begins to grin, showing a smile on her face. Teen congratulates Alice. Alices smile runs away from her face as without warning, Teen faints and collapses to the floor. The coven immediately tends to Teen, with Agatha asking what's wrong with him. They find that he is bleeding due to some unknown force. The coven, carrying his body, runs to the exit bringing him to safety. They manage to lie him down on a tree log, and carefully remove the glass spikes from his body (as a result of the curse taking effect within the first verse when they performed the song, presumably.) Agatha begins to panic and asks what else she can do to save him. Lilia tries to lighten the situation by hoping that Teen will survive this, noting that Teen is the youngest member of the coven and he's just as strong like the others. Agatha's expression turns to anger, and she shouts "Don't!", looking at Lilia with a stern face. She then begins to turn her attention to Rio. She asks Rio to spare Teen's life. This time, Agatha's expression turns into one of sorrow, and asks Jen about what ingredients she might need to try and save him.

Jen asks Agatha for the coven to bring her some "water and moonlight" as part of a revival potion for Teen. The group quickly runs around the Witches' Road to find the ingredients, while Agatha pleads them to hurry. Rio shows an apathetic, yet curious expression on her face, looking at Teen as the rest of the coven begin to assemble the potion. Jen begins to chant in Latin, and Lilia with her Tarot expertise translates to "three of swords" - a tarot card with a heart, with three swords piercing it, with the first sword representing words, the second one representing actions and the third one representing intent. Agatha, now with tears in her eyes scolds Jen for making it worse. However, to the coven's surprise, the potion works and Agatha is shocked to see Teen alive again with healthy spirits. Lilia praises Jennifer by asking her to look what her potion has resulted in. Agatha looks at Rio, who gives a snarky look back at her. Jen suggest that they should move Teen somewhere more comfortable.

The coven then lifts Teen's body and starts a campfire. Teen, exhausted finds himself resting on the ground. Agatha, alone with him looks at Teen with a worried expression on her face. Elsewhere, the coven has started a campfire and they begin to bond with each other, sharing stories about their experiences as Witches. Jen goes first, telling her story:

Jen: I never really identified as a witch. I'm an 11th-generation root worker and midwife.

Lilia: A midwife...
Alice: How were you bound?
Jen: I was invited to the brand new Obstetrics Association of Greater Boston, to share my expertise. It was a trap. I still don't know how he did it. Bound me without magick. So much for "Do No Harm".

~ Jen Alludes to an unknown person cursing her.

Alice is next, beginning to tell her story and reflecting with Lilia:

Alice: When Mom died, I stopped believing everything she ever taught me. I was so angry. Part of me hoped that The Road wasn't real, so I could stay angry. Because...

Lilia: Now you know, it was all for you, and that makes you sad.
Alice: *She begins to look at Lilia with tears in her eyes:* You're right.
Lilia: Sad is better than angry.

~ Alice reflects on the peace and the satisfaction the road has given her with Lilia, finally finding closure on what happened to her mother.

Jen gives Alice a mystical rock, asking her to put it on her pressure points. Alice asks why, to which Jen responds with the reason being that it smells nice. Alice thanks Jen for her kind gift. Lilia then begins to offer her advice to the other witches:

Lilia: You know, the worst part of being a witch? All the misconceptions and rumor mongering. That we talk to goats.
~ Lilia provides some comedy relief to the coven with some "words of advice".

As Lilia continues to give her "words of advice", Rio chimes in with the joke. The coven all begins to laugh. Meanwhile, the scene shifts to Agatha. She holds her hands in prayer, still watching over Teen. Teen begins to wake up, and Agatha expresses relief at him in the form of a snarky remark that he's alive, and that's great. Teen, being suspicious of Agatha's behavior, asks Agatha the following question:

Teen: Did you put the sigil on me?

Agatha: NO. Actually, I wouldn't know. A sigil works on the witch that cast it as well. That's why we don't use them as much, they're super irritating.
Teen: Can it be lifted?
Agatha: Sigils are destroyed, not lifted. And before you ask, "How?" in that curious little voice of yours, the answer is when they're no longer needed. You don't have to know a person's name to know who they are.
Teen: Careful you don't say something nice to me.
Agatha: Oh, I won't.
Teen: Agatha... What really happened to your son?
Agatha begins to show disgust towards Teen, and gets up to leave.
Agatha: Heal fast. We're not staying here long.

~ Teen's conversation with Agatha.

Teen has a shocked look at his face as Agatha walks away. Elsewhere, The coven begins to laugh. They are showing signs of friendship. Lilia shows Jen her vampire bite. She tells Jen of how she got the bite, and how she proceeded to knock out the other vampire's tooth. Lilia acknowledges that there are signs of friendship, and notes how they initially hated each other in the beginning. Their conversation is interrupted by Agatha, who stands angry above them.

Alice shows concern for Teen asking how his health is. Agatha answers with "mouthy". Lilia says that it is a good sign. Agatha begins to sit down beside Rio. Jen asks Agatha to show them her "battle scars". Agatha looks at Jen funny and rolls up her sleeves, showing her a scar that resulted from a "knitting needle to the elbow". She asks Jen if she's ever heard of the Daughters of Liberty. Jen denies. The coven then all laugh. Rio, showing a serious conversation, says the following words. In the middle of this, she's looking at Agatha back and forth:

Rio: I've got a scar.

Agatha: *begins to laugh it off* No, you don't.
Rio: Yes, I do. A long time ago, I loved someone. And I had to do something that I did not wanna do, even though it was my job. And it hurt them. She is my scar.

~ Rio, while her and Agatha exchange glances tells the Coven her story.

Agatha dismisses the conversation, saying she's going to go and "stretch her legs". She's now away from the rest of the group by herself. Suddenly, Rio joins her. The two begin to flirt before Rio shares a devastating revelation:

Rio: Agatha? That boy isn't yours.
~ Rio tells Agatha the truth about Teen's origins, urging her to let go of the delusion that Teen might possibly be her son.

Agatha, heartbroken, nods to Rio and gives her a slight smile before leaving. The journey continues for the Coven, and so they proceed to the third trial of the Witches' Road.
