Agent Red is the main antagonist of Aardman's eighth animated feature film A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon.

She was voiced by Kate Harbour in her first villainous role.

Appearance

Agent Red is a tall and slim woman with long brown hair pulled back into a tight bun at the top of her head. She has purple eyeshadow and red lipstick, and wears a black suit, tie, sunglasses, high-heel shoes and diamond earrings.

Biography

Past

When she was young, an spaceship has landed near her home and she saw two aliens (Lu-La's parents) coming out from it. Wanting to prove her school that aliens do exist, she draws an art of the exact aliens from the ship she saw before and showed it to her classmates, but they didn't believe her and instead laughed at her, causing her to become upset and sad.

Shaun the Sheep: Farmageddon

After an alien named Lu-La crash-landed on Earth with her UFO, Red and her organisation the Ministry of Alien Detection (M.A.D.) launched an investigation on the case, interrogating a man who witnessed the alien's arrival and was led to where he saw Lu-La with her spaceship, only for said ship to not be seen on sight. They later discovered the location of the spaceship (the same place where it originally is, but was turned invisible so it can be hidden) and arrived to take it to their headquarters; as the HazMats were inspecting the spaceship, Red was also inspecting a device from the ship (which was the key to activate it).

However, Shaun and Lu-La slip out prior and manage to retrieve the device, as the Hazmats are distracted by Bitzer (who has been following Shaun and is mistaken as the alien due to his alien-like suit) before the three barely escaped with the ship when Agent Red tried to stop them by closing the entrance to the base. Frustrated at herself failing to prevent the alien from escaping, she briefly reminisces of how she once saw two aliens as a child and that Red showed a drawing of them to her peers only to be ridiculed by them; now looking back to her old drawing, Red soon continued the pursuit for Lu-La, finding her and Shaun at the "Farmeggedon" theme park built by the Farmer.

As Shaun and Lu-La work to try to contact the latter's parents from a distant planet, Red captures Bitzer only to her realizing he's a dog. She's ridiculed by the audience of the theme park as Red is about to give up. But when she discovers Lu-La's plush toy, she finds her with Shaun climbing at the top of the tower and chases after the duo using a robotic device. The Flock manages to interfere in her robot advice and shuts the power energy giving more time to Shaun and Lu-La, but she reconnects her robot and throws the Flock into a ball pit. Shaun sends a signal, to Lu-La's parents, but Red interferes. As Shaun and Lu-La throws to her the letters of the "Farmageddon" tower, Red gets in the top of the tower, ready to finish her goal. As she's about to attack, Bitzer (who throws himself in a canon) throws her off the tower, falling to the ground at the same spot where his robot sidekick Mugg-1N5 is. Lu-La's parents arrive and Red (with a sudden change of heart) eventually welcomes the aliens, knowing they are the ones she saw as a child.

Her fate after meeting Lu-La's parents is unknown, as she was not seen afterward. However, it could be implied that she had her organisation shut down as she has finally met the aliens she saw as a kid, moving on for a better, and less tyrannic, life while continuing onto better things.

• Agent Red is the second Shaun The Sheep antagonist to be a human, the first being Anthony Trumper.
• Agent Red is the second Aardman antagonist to have a tragic backstory, since The Toad from Flushed Away, although Agent Red’s tragic backstory is more genuine.
• Agent Red is the foil to Melisha Tweedy from the Chicken Run duology, Agent Red is a redeemable villainess, who wears black, with a tragic backstory, have a robot called Mugg-1N5, have Hazmats as her guards and wanted to captured the aliens alive to prove to everyone of the aliens' existence, while Melisha Tweedy is a pure evil villainess, who wears pink and purple clothing, married her two husbands for money, have two dogs called Mr. Bonzo and Fido, have Fun Land Farm Guards as her guards and wanted to kill the chickens for meat products are chicken pies and chicken nuggets.
• Agent Red is the foil to Piella Bakewell from Wallace and Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death: Agent Red is a redeemable villainess, who wears dark-coloured clothing, while Piella Bakewell is a pure evil villainess, who wears light-coloured clothing.
• Agent Red is the first Aardman antagonist to be redeemed in a feature length film, although she is the second overall after The Cooker from the Wallace and Gromit: A Grand Day Out short.
