Agrona Vritra is the main antagonist of the fantasy action manhwa and light novel series The Beginning After The End and anime adaptation series of the same name. He is the Head of the Vritra Clan and Ruler of Alacrya. He is well known and responsible for the war between Dicathens and Alacrya and his original goal is to conquer Epotheus partly to acquire with Dicathen to have more manpower to achieve this goal.

His first initial appearance was the form of Sylvie by possessing her once the seal is already broken, in which he offers Arthur a safe place and those he loved if he withdraw the war which he later possess Sylvie again after The Bloodfrost battle in Destin where Dichaten suffered a disastrous loss and his offer towards Arthur is no longer relevant to him.

Appearance[]

Agrona is shown to be a tall, lean, and great-looking male Basilisk. As a member of his race, he possesses a pair of long antlers on his head. He has short brown hair. He has cold red eyes. He typically wears a brown outfit with sharp shoulder guards all around his torso. The appearance of his horns have several rings of gold and silver wrapped around the pongs.

Personality[]

Agrona Vritra is considered to be cold, ruthless and cunning leader of the Vritra Clan. He has an interesting fascination of the lesser beings especially the ancient mages who harness the power of Aether. His daughter, Sylvia, described him as "coy and charming yet a thrill seeker for knowledge". After he was exiled from the Asura race after he threatened to expose the Indrath clan for the genocide they committed against the ancient mages who they refuse to give them the knowledge of aether arts which he is later driven mad for the betrayal of his clansmen and his own love which he later committed acts causing his despicable actions that went against his ethics. Despite that, he is casual and demeanor that is pleasant to allies and enemies alike which Arthur describes him as eccentric and antisocial yet Agrona acknowledges someones strength and immense potential even if they're lesser beings and doesn't look down on them.

He is shown to enjoy to torture his enemies especially when insulting Infront of Arthur on his emotional weakness without remorse of his actions while does not have the patience nor tolerance for failing him though he can give a second chance. Given when an individual impressed him, he acknowledges while complimenting on arthur gambits himself on unlocking the fourth keystone while hiding.

He is well described to be very manipulative and cunning, demonstrating on how he manipulated Adultin Eralith and Dawid Greysunders to betray their own countries and citizens, as he also demonstrated to outmaneuver Kezess sightedness and long term plans. Despite that, he is never above the mistakes he caused while disreagarding Arthur as a threat when discovering his survival in Alacrya, leading the death of Cabell and a squad of his race. In the later novel, he later lost his control to of Dicathen while failing to capture Arthur thrice leading his defeat when Arthur separates him and Cecilia using the power of fate.

Biography[]

He is the leader of the Vritra Clan and is intended husband of the Sylvia. Centuries way back when he wears a disguise sneaking off to Alacrya and Dicathen for hidden research purposes and his intrigue interest of the lessers way of life. In one of his discoveries, he unearth the relicombs of the ancient mages and unearth the darkest secret of Indrath, the genocide of the ancient mages which he later threatened to expose their wrongdoings but is later exiled due to his intimate relationship with the lessers. In his time in exile, he and his followers searched the buried texts of the ancient mages to deepen their knowledge resulting to use lesser beings as an experimental subjects to test the powers existence, "Fate". He later reunited with his late wife, Sylvia, who warned him about her fathers plan to assassinate him and notify him her unborn child she has carried which he imprisoned her until she gives birth to her daughter, Sylvie but she instead escaped along her unborn baby as he later sent Cadell to capture her. When he personally appeared before Kezess Indrath, manipulating him that her daughter died in battle and persuaded him to not wage war and a treaty was formed , forbidding all races of Asura to wage war due to he damage that will be caused on the world.

It is later revealed that the last of the ancient mages aka the Djinn, Ji-ae, helped him created advanced mana arts while he was unaware that Ji-ae helped Sylvia escaped and give her the relicombs and informs her about Arthur's existence.

He later discovered the runes created by the ancient mages, making him use it to give capable people in Alacrya through a Bestowal ceremony and is also responsible for reincarnation of Grey, Nico and Cecilia to bring power of the eternity to destroy Kezess and the Asura factions.

Abilities and Powers[]

  • Body Possession: He embedded the spell on his daughter, Sylvie before she was born, which he posses the ability to possess her body yet it is limited to move around and communicate others and cannot use mana arts. However, in her resurrection, this ability should disappear
  • Shapeshifitng: He doesn't have a true form but only a regular basilisk and disguised as a human at the same time.
