Sunhawk Ahsis is a minor antagonist in Horizon Zero Dawn. He serves as the main antagonist of the Redmaw questline.

He served the Sunhawk of Meridian of the Carja's Hunter's Lodge before his death. Although he had legitimately gained this position in accordance with the Lodge Bylaws, he was not beyond using dishonest and even illegal methods to hold onto it.

He serves as the arch-enemy of Talanah Khane Padish, due to him covering up the deaths of her family from the Redmaw's terror, as well as enforcing his bigoted, misogynistic policies in the Lodge despite Avad's reformations of the whole tribe after Jiran's death.

He was voiced by Ako Mitchell.

Personality

Ahsis was known to be conceited and extremely bigoted, as well as being devious. He held non-Carja people, especially Nora, in low regard. The changes Avad had made to the Lodge Bylaws, which allowed any hunter with the necessary competence to join, regardless of gender or tribe, appalled him and would secretly follow Jiran's old-fashioned policies. He was also selfish, refusing to aid an impoverished town of his fellow Carja because they could not pay him handsomely, and amoral, eager to have Talanah killed to keep her from replacing him.

In addition, his pride would not allow him to share his success with anybody else. This caused him to pursue Redmaw and other machines twice without his Thrush since he didn't want to share the success's glory with anybody. In addition, he banned all discussion of the heroic deaths of both his predecessor Talavad and the Hawks that perished beside him. Ironically, Ahsis after being killed by the Redmaw is reduced to a humiliating, undignified footnote in the Lodge's history books, while the previous Sunhawks and Thrushes who died are honored and revered.

Trivia

• Despite being the first Lodge Member to kill a Thunderjaw, of which was what supplanted him to being the Sunhawk, his death from the Redmaw (also a Thunderjaw) was what sealed his fate at the end of the titular sidequest.
