Supreme Commander Ichijou is the superior of Aya Odigiri in Skyforce and the leader of the Neo Jetman. Upon that he is also the secondary antagonist in episodes 40 and 41 of Chojin Sentai Jetman.
He was portrayed by Hideaki Tezuka.
Biography[]
Supreme Commander Akira Ichijou is introduced to the Jetman right after their battle with the Vyram monster Meteor BEM. Meteor BEM had previously taken the Jetman's power that ran on Birdonic waves away using Anti-Birdonic waves. Although, Supreme Commander Akira Ichijou new Neo - Jetman team had saved the Jetman from impending doom. With the Jetman hurt and broken Akira Ichijou disbands the Jetman and tells them they will be replaced with his armored team. They fight with their counterparts as Aya talks with Ichijou who reveals his jealousy of her and how he wanted to lead the Jetman program. Even when she pleads him to let the Jetman still exist he refuses and doesn't change his mind.
Soon after Meteor BEM infiltrated the Sky Force base and when the Neo - Jetman went to fight it they failed utterly and had to then be saved by the Jetman. Ichijou though claimed to the Jetman that his team were expendable and that they didn't need their saving or help. Still they disobeyed and helped them with Jet Garuda albeit until the Vyram drowned it. Icijou then raged at his team for being saved by "civilians" and then figures out that there is a way for the Jetman to regain their powers. Even though this is the case he withholds this information from them and tells them they will forever be powerless unable to be a Jetman. He then immediately disbands the Jetman team. As the Neo Jetman are beaten again by Meteor BEM, Supreme Commander Akira Ichijou then tells Aya to contact the Jetman for help.
When the Jetman come and are beaten Aya tells everyone to evacuate but the Supreme Commander seals them in the base. Then the Neo Jetman tell them that Supreme Commander Akira Ichijou got rid of their results and that they can be Jetman again. The Neo Jetman give their powers to the Jetman and they destroy Meteor BEM. All is then well but Supreme Commander Akira Ichijou is never seen again.
Personality[]
Supreme Commander Akira Ichijou is a cold and egotistical man. All he cares about is power and recognition and doesn't care that the Jetman were protecting the Earth. All he cares is about his power and could care truly less if the Vyram attacked Earth. The only reason he seem to care is so he can gain power within Skyforce. In addition, he telling the Jetman not to protect his team and scolding his team for failing shows he is failure intolerant and that he doesn't give a thought if his team dies. To them they aren't people, nobody is. They are just teams and people at his disposal.
He also seems to be jealous of Aya Odagari also showing his egotistical and power hungry nature. He hates that she got the Jetman program and he didn't and sets this up during an attack by the Vyram partially out of stupid jealousy. Finally he hiding the Jetman's test results shows his depravity and that he would do anything to keep them out of the picture. Overall he is a corrupt and power hungry egotist, no better than Vyram.
