Chief Al Gristlepuss Sr., also known simply by his forename Al, is the secondary antagonist of the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Banned in Bikini Bottom".
He is the chief of the Bikini Bottom Police Department, the husband of Miss Gristlepuss, and the father of Al Gristlepuss Jr. and his unnamed daughter who aids his wife in closing down restaurants for petty reasons.
After SpongeBob sings about his love for Krabby Patties in the Krusty Krab kitchen, a tour bus containing old women pulls up at the Krusty Krab. An elderly woman named Miss Gristlepuss enters the Krusty Krab along with her sisters and is unhappy with what she sees, so she decides to ban Krabby Patties.
The Krusty Krab gets shut down after Mr. Krabs threatens and insults Miss Gristlepuss, with him not knowing that her husband was the chief of police. Plankton thinks that Mr. Krabs changed the name of his restaurant to "The Closed Krab", but then realizes that he can take advantage of the moment to celebrate. He then discovers that Mr. Krabs has secretly reopened the Krusty Krab at SpongeBob's House. Patrick, who is serving as the guard, asks Plankton for the password to enter, and Plankton responds with threats. The threats apparently constitues as the password and Patrick allows Plankton to enter.
After making sure that no police are around, Mr. Krabs goes to check on SpongeBob, who is afraid that they'll get arrested for illegally selling Krabby Patties. Mr. Krabs forces SpongeBob to continuing working and threatens to make him take weekends off. Unfortunately for Mr. Krabs, Plankton finds out about his illegal business and calls the police on him. The police quickly show up and proceed to take the Krabby Patties and arrest Mrs. Krabs and his employees.
Al is caught eating one of the Krabby Patties and Miss Gristlepuss tries to stop him, however, she ends up tripping on her shoe laces and the Krabby Patty falls into her mouth. She sings about her love for Krabby Patties and decides to not only not send Mr. Krabs and his employees to jail, but also unbans Krabby Patties and has the Krusty Krab reopened. Plankton, who is now hiding under a Patty after his plan failed, gets eaten by Miss Gristlepuss, and the episode ends.
In "Dirty Bubble Returns", the Dirty Bubble kidnaps him and takes him hostage. When Perch Perkins does a report on this, the Dirty Bubble drops Al and proceeds to grab Perch.
After the Dirty Bubble gets arrested, Al can be seen standing to the left of Incidental 118. After the Dirty Bubble gets re-arrested, he can be seen alongside the rest of the police.
The Patrick Star Show[]
In "Patrick's Prison Pals", he brings his unnamed daughter to the Bikini Bottom Jail for being Bring Your Kid to Work Day.
In "Driven to Drive", he catches Patrick and Cecil speeding and chases them down. Cecil tells Al that is a new learner, and Al then brings out his own kid Al Gristlepuss Jr. Al asks Cecil for his license, but he doesn't have one. Al then asks Cecil and Patrick to pull over, however, Cecil insists that they can't be arrested if they get their licenses first.
Patrick and Cecil drive to the Department bof Motor Boats while still being chased by Al and his son. Patrick reaches the DMB register and finds Cecil, who initially refuses to give Patrick his license, but reveals that it was a trick and gives it to him, only for Al and his son to show up and take away Patrick's license and Cecil's car.
