Alan Daniel Budd, also known the AL Generator is the main antagonist of the Doctor Who episode "The Robot Revolution".

He was played by Jonny Green.

Biography[]

Alan Budd was the former boyfriend of Belinda Chandra. In 2008, he named a star after her. However, this star was actually a planet that took on the name Missbelindachandra, it was inhabited by robots and humanoid beings. Meanwhile, Alan was coercively controlling Belinda, so she rejected his marriage proposal.

On exactly Friday 23rd May 2025, robots who formed a revolution against humans on the planet kidnapped Belinda to make them their queen. She protested that they should take Alan instead, this caused a stable time loop where the robots captured him in 2015. Seeing life on Missbelindachandra as a game, Alan merged himself with the machines and started the war, becoming the AL Generator, whom many though was actually AI. However, when Belindra was finally brought to Alan, he revealed that he was in pain. Belinda touched her copy of the certificate to Alan's, causing them to experience all of time simultaneously. The Doctor rescued Belinda, while Alan reverts to a sperm and egg, which is cleaned up by a robot, liberating Missbelindachandra.

Personality[]

While Al appeared affable and well-tempered, in truth, he was egotistical, manipulative, controlling, and wrathful. Upon gaining power, he immediately killed the Prime Minister for simply asking a question and giggled in glee over the ability to so easily take life, displaying zero guilt or remorse, rather going on to kill countless more to maintain his given authority or merely out of a whim.

As a youth, he was an obsessive and controlling boyfriend of Belinda, hence she dumped him; despite this, he remained certain they would remain together, and upon transitioning into more machine than human, his desire to control Belinda mutated into a desire to absorb her mind to keep her trapped within his own, thus exacerbated his existing controlling nature to the extreme.

Appearance[]

Initially, Alan Budd was a young man with blond hair and greyish blue eyes.

However, upon being turned into the AL Generator, his skin was all covered in metal except for his left eye, his right eye was replaced with a yellow glowing device. To the public, he hides behind a giant mask with a green right eye and a red left eye.

Trivia[]

Funnily enough, in real life, some stars seen in the sky can be in fact different planets. Shooting stars are actually meteoroids.
AL Generator is clearly a jab at the recent controversy of AI doing the jobs of many people, like writing and artwork.
