Alan Garner is one of the three main protagonists (alongside Phil Wenneck and Stu Price) of The Hangover trilogy.
He is played by Zach Galifianakis, who also played Humpty Alexander Dumpty in Puss in Boots.
Personality and Traits[]
Alan immediately shows himself to be someone with many mental problems; that is, an immature forty-year-old who behaves like an immature and mentally ill child in some way, for this reason he often gets ADHD because he is hyperactive, but he almost never swears and he almost never swears and he knows how to be nice. The fact that he drugs people sometimes makes him crazy in a certain sense because he does not think before acting and shows a tendency to change opinions and desires for little and often does not know how to regulate his personality. Alan considers Phil his idol and his man, this is also another symptom of his stupidity, but also because he loves them very much. Furthermore, Alan can sometimes be intelligent: for example, he learned to play Blackjack like a professional, reading a book that teaches how to do it. Alan can be very relaxed, optimistic and witty, and strangely has unpredictable memories (remembering them with meditation in Thailand) and when he is drugged, the conditions worsen such as falling asleep in certain situations. Technically he was the one who formed the “wolfpack” and partially redeemed Chow, so Alan proves useful sometimes.
He lives with his younger sister Tracy Garner and his parents Sid Garner and Linda Garner, in a rich house, where he loves everyone, although more to his father since he revealed at his funeral that he would have preferred his mother to die first. They often call him "Sweetie" and usually fix the disasters he causes, until the incident with the decapitated giraffe that was the last straw for Sid who was so furious with Alan that he wouldn't listen to reason, which made them have a heart attack, which later worsens his personality, since he misses them and starts having a crisis. However, towards the end of the last film he gets better and marries Cassie.
In the first film he feels a bit of a hindrance to come to Las Vegas with Doug, Phil and Stu, but then Doug reassures him, even though he is the one who creates chaos by drugging the others with drinks, but luckily it ends well. In the second film, he is obsessed with the invitation to Stu's wedding in Thailand. According to Sid, he has never left Las Vegas in his head and needs it, and in the end he receives the invitation, but after finding out that there is also a new one among them, Teddy, he immediately takes a dislike to him and tries to drug him with marshmallows, but this backfires and he also drugs himself and the others. In the end, however, everything always ends well. In the third film, where he is the protagonist, he loses his father after an accident with a giraffe that causes them to have a heart attack and has a crisis and after a lot of trouble with Chow and a mobster he marries Cassie, a woman who works in Las Vegas at a pawn shop in exchange for gold and he also moves there with her.
