An unnamed commanding officer. known as the Alaskan Base Officer, is a minor antagonist in Heavy Object, having appeared early in the story.
Appearance[]
The officer wears a dark uniform over pale skin and slicked light hair and thick lips. In the light novel, he has a more handsome appearance by comparison.
Biography[]
Frolaytia witnessed the officer's object, the Water Strider, speeding towards her base in the events leading to the above and sent the Baby Magnum out in an attempt to counter its attacks. Due to the equal speed, the enemy object catches up and manages to blow a hole in the Baby Magnum with Millinda managing to escape via ejection seat.
As the enemy object aimed towards the main male protagonists, it fires at the base despite it raising the white flag, leading to it being blown apart and bringing forth a mass of casualties there. Heivia and Qwenthur retreat as the enemy object continues to fire upon the base, leading to more deaths as helpless soldiers on the heroes' side die before it retreats.
Frolaytia insists that they make a retreat alongside the surviving soldiers as they are at risk of getting killed next. But the guys resolve to locate Millinda and save her. Qwenthur witnesses several soldiers surrounding Millinda and proceeds to shoot the repulsive men when one of them launches a bazooka which forces Hevia to push Qwenthur out of its path.
As they run, the giant object's cannon aims at them once more, prompting the three to retreat from a cave before blowing up its entrance to get the Water-Strider off their back.
Having rationalized that the object is requiring flesh and blood maintenance, Qwenthur and Havia head towards the base in order to sabotage the Water-Strider and end its rampage once and for all. The duo proceeds to infiltrate the base and seek out the machine's weak points by destroying the spare parts while Milinda hides.
After Qwenthur reads a manual, he and Havia retreat in an attempt to escape while planting explosives only to find that Milinda was captured. Not long afterwards, when the duo message Frolaytia on the pending explosion, the officer's men captured them and orders the boys executed by the object's guns while planning to subject Milinda to a personality-damaging torture before planning to hang her from the guns of the object while she freezes to death.
Just as maintenance was done, the object moves out when Qwenthur tackles the officer and swipes his communicator while a bomb explodes on the object. Convinced the object will still attack, Qwenthur proves him wrong by pointing out the self-destruct system that triggers afterwards.
After the Water-Strider explodes, the officer takes his loss poorly and tries to shoot the trio only for him to get shot by Frolaytia who has her men arrest the surviving cronies.
