Albert is one of the two main antagonists of the 2014 thriller A Walk Among the Tombstones, alongside Ray.

He was portrayed by Adam David Thompson.

Biography[]

How he and Ray got to know each other is unknown. At some point, however, they began to be together and focus on New York drug dealers. After spotting and tracking them, they kidnap their wives, rapes and mutilates her, call the dealer, demand a large ransom and kill the woman even though the ransom has been paid. They after dumped the body' pieces somewhere.

One victim was Leila Anderson, an interior design student at Brooklyn College. Before killing her, they met Jonas Logan, a groundskeeper, at a video store. Noticing he worked at a cemetery, they pretended to work for DEA agents with a police radio and files on drug dealers as proof. It's later revealed they killed a DEA agent and stole her papers. They drank at some bar, where Logan told them that Leila was a wife of a local drug dealer and that he wanted to save her. The duo accepted and after observing her for some time, kidnapped and brought her near the water in Brooklyn. After stopping the van they used, they tortured Anderson by ripping off one of her tits. Horrified over realizing what Ray and Albert truly are, Logan flees away from the van. The duo eventually killed the woman, mutilated her body, and left the parts to the cemetery, to be found by Logan found the next day.

Some time later, they kidnapped the wife of drug dealer Kenny Kristo. After they did so, Ray called Kristo and told him to deliver $400,000 to them. Kristo did this, and the duo redirect him to an abandoned car. When Kristo found the car, he opened the trunk, and found the body' parts of his wife wrapped in bags. The killers also left a recording of the woman being raped for Kristo's "listening pleasure".

In the movie proper, they're watching over their next victim, waiting for the good moment to abduct her. However, she never comes out of her house. Growing impatient, Ray goes to the courtyard of the house to see what is going on and notices the victim is lying on a bed, being taken care of by a nurse. Frustrated, Ray comes back and asks Albert that they leave, as the man will not want to pay as much as he would for the nurse. As they start the car, they see Ludmilla (calling herself Lucia), the pair's girl, crossing the street and set their sights immediately on her.

One night, they break in the house, incapacitate the family's dog, and kidnap Ludmilla by using a Taser on her. They call the father and asks for $1,000,000 as a ransom. But the ex-cop turned detective named Matt Scudder negotiates with Ray and manages to have an appointment face-to-face with him and Albert in the cemetery where Leila was left dead.

Scudder arrives with Kenny Kristo and his brother Peter to set up a trap to the partners-in-crime. The exchange goes as planned, although Albert insists to shoot Scudder down. However, Scudder sees Lucia has two fingers cut off. Ray points his pistol toward Scudder and is perplexed to see the detective's absence of fear. He renounces to shoot him, but Albert, who was counting the money, realizes some are from Monopoly game and warns his partner. But before he can shoot Scudder, the latter draws a gun and shoots Ray, who survives because he wears a bulletproof vest. Peter and Kenny shoot the duo, but they don't touch them. Ray however, manages to kill Peter, gets into his van with Albert, and they drive away, hitting several graves.

Unbeknownst to them, TJ is also on the van and manages to give their location to Scudder. With Ray complaining about the wound, Albert gets into their house. Ray tells him there is a first aid kit in the bathroom, only for Albert to completely ignore him and go urinate. They go down in the basement. Albert checks the money and figures out there are some real. Ray, on his side, grabs a Taser, and is brought to a chair by his partner. Ray then notices TJ, but before he can react, Albert strangles him from behind with a rope.

After this, he makes something to eat for himself, planning to chop up Ray's body in order to leave them in some bags before leaving. Scudder, Kristo and TJ surprise him during his meal. They grab him and bind him to the heater. Albert calmly explains them what he planned to do. When Kenny asks to whom he planned to deliver the pieces, Albert nonchalantly answers this was just for him. In his rage, Kenny aims his gun at Albert, but Scudder says with plenty of evidences they found at the duo's house, he will be imprisoned for the rest of his life. However, the choice of letting him leave or not depends on Kenny, and the latter decides to spare him. Albert offers to help him with his hand. In response, Kenny takes a bottle and knocks him out.

Scudder calls a taxi for TJ to bring him back to his shelter while Kenny inspects the basement of the criminals. Unfortunately, Albert wakes up, frees himself, and savagely kills Kenny. Waiting for Matt to show up, he attacks him from behind, knocking and trying to strangle him. Scudder tries to shoot him from behind. Annoyed by the noise, Albert throws him on a desk. Taking a hammer, he hits him several times, but Scudder gets up and dodges the hits. Albert tackles him to the ground. He then takes a cleaver to finish Scudder off, but the detective, having spotted the Taser in Ray's pocket, manages to take it and give Albert an electric shock, enough to incapacitate him. Albert tries to say something to Matt, but the latter doesn't listen, takes a pistol and shoots him in the head, ending definitely the duo' heinous crimes.

Personality[]

Albert is cold, emotionless, and rather quiet. However, he is much as ruthless as Ray is, participating and endorsing in each of their crimes such as serial killing, mutilation, torture, and rape.
